Just shows you just how far left the Democrat party is pushing... even the leftists are saying they're too far left. -

OR... maybe they don't think there's a better candidate and your feelings are hurt. I know you won't read this, but that's because you're not very smart and why I'm on ignore. -

I mean, I don't know how to respond to this. I just posted what the editorial section does and you ignored it and gave your own interpretation. LOL You do you bud. -

Honestly, I had no idea what the purpose of an Editorial section of a newspaper was until this came about. I never read the newspaper. Found this... Seems to me that this is exactly what the owner asked them to do, and they didn't do it. Makes sense that he wouldn't then endorse a candidate. Garza was upset that he blocked them from endorsing Harris, so no, it's not that she's mad that no endorsement was made, but that the one they wanted, wasn't made. "Soon-Shiong reportedly blocked plans for the newspaper’s editorial arm (which operates independently from the newsroom) to endorse Kamala Harris for president over Donald Trump, as reported by Semafor earlier this week." Further: "It makes us look craven and hypocritical, maybe even a bit sexist and racist,” reads Garza’s resignation letter" Again, she's clearly mad that Harris wasn't being endorsed, and not that an endorsement wasn't being made. As the initial article said, other endorsements were made, so clearly it was only this one that had Garza up in arms, and it's clear that it's because they didn't endorse Harris. -

I think he meant all types of elections, such as Senate, HoR, DA, stuff like that. Not every presidential election since their inception. I could be wrong though. -
Well done (getting the girl).
-
They won championship in '94-'95 with Rizotti. They went 4 years without winning again and during that times, he had backed off that practice (not totally eliminating it, but scaling down a lot). After winning with Sue Bird in the '99-00 season, they asked Auriemma what he thought the reason was, that they got over the hump after falling short so many years in a row. He told them that the biggest factor was going back to practicing with guys regularly. He said his girls got better because of the competition level. He kept doing it and they kept winning. Sue Bird's season was the first of 10 championships over 15 years.
-
Then doubt away bud. I'm taking Auriemma's word for it.
-
LOL, the first time I linked the wrong one. But, to the point, Rizzotti was there in '94. The link is from 2011 with Maya Moore... meaning, the practice continued and still does. There is no stock of D2 (or JUCO in your estimation), players every year on college campuses. Auriemma has said in interviews that he goes to the gym looking for guys playing pick up games and asks them to practice with their team. It's not a mystery.
-
That's what he did back then, he's been using kids ever since. Go listen to an interview. The original article I linked a few posts prior says that it's common in women's sports in general. I don't know what the big secret is or why it's even bad. I think it's a great idea. Here's another one with UConn: https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/UCONN-WOMEN-A-few-good-men-helping-Huskies-11552793.php "Welcome to the world of the male practice players, 15 UConn students finding an outlet to extend their basketball playing days. The concept of using former high school boys' players enrolled at the school to push the powerhouse women's team was an idea hatched in the 1994-95 season, when starting point guard Jen Rizzotti asked if her future husband, a fellow UConn student, could take part in practice with some of his friends." Rizzotti's idea was the catalyist for the trend. Auriemma has been doing it ever since, especially when they have a short roster. It's been going on for 30 years, that wasn't a one off. Again, these are generally just students that they recruit on campus. There's no scholarships, there's no pay, there's no credits, there's nothing. These guys just volunteer.
-
It's common knowledge really, but here's one that took 3 seconds to find. https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/UCONN-WOMEN-A-few-good-men-helping-Huskies-11552793.php In the article there's a comment that Geno realized it's value before the '95 season.

The Truthful State of the Election: Landslide confirmed...310 plus EV for Trump!

Remember when Hillary was a strong woman for backing up Bill against the women who accused him of sexual abuse/harassment? Yeah, good times, good times. -
Yup. Now, they bigger dudes... and college guys ranging from 6'-2" to 6'-10" and big in size like 210 to 250. But still, they were random dudes that can play school yard ball. They had to at least be able to play basketball. Rebecca Lobo said that after the first couple practices with the guys, they needed a few days off because they were drained physically and mentally. But she said it worked. They got better because of it. I mean, they became a dynasty because of it. There's nothing wrong with that, it's a great idea. In the article I posted, it's become mainstream because it works. I mean, no kidding, it has to. If you have the ability to practice against people better than you, it's going to make you better. The best way for women to do that, is to play against men. It's common sense. The thing is, when it comes to sports like basketball, soccer, tennis, etc, you can find random guys (obviously, they have to be able to play), almost anywhere, to practice against. My nephew's girlfriend (they're 16 and in high school), plays soccer. Her team practices against the boys middle school team. When they scrimmage, they don't keep score... she says it's because they always lose to the boys. Right now, her team is 7-0. It's why I say, I think any junior college men's basketball team would dominate the WNBA. There's guys that are 6'-4" that'll run right past these women and dunk on them. When I was in high school, we had guys on our freshman team that were 6' and could dunk. Come on, get out of here that 'they'd have to be D2 level'.
-
I think you're wrong on this take. Geno Auriema used to (and I believe he still does), have his team practice against men. He'd put out fliers all over campus looking for guys to run practices and scrimmages against his girls. He'd run 4 guys (random dudes), against 5 girls so that they can play against harder competition that what they'd see in games. It was a way to get them to play better and get better themselves. It worked to the point where it's more mainstream. If an average junior college men's basketball team joined the WNBA, I wouldn't be shocked if they won the championship that year and every year they played.

Like I said earlier, "agree to disagree".

Check-in thread if you've been "ignored" by the Coont

Thanks. He's just a dope. I'm not sure if he's serious or just trolling or just a complete buffoon. I'm not upset he's ignoring me, I just think that's childish. I don't ignore Rusty or Gutterboy even though they're just like this guy, I still read the crap they post and generally just laugh at them. -
(says the guy who's been going on and on when I only said I think the word "many" isn't a good adjective) LOL, whatever makes you happy.

For the people who have been here that long and no record, fine... those aren't the people I have a problem with. Anyone here the last 2 to 5 years, they go. Gone. Anyone, regardless of time, who has a criminal record has to go. Anyone 5 years and under, who've had kids here... they AND their kids go. -

You're not very smart, are you? -
I know people in the tech world as well and they don't get paid for jury duty unless they take time off... be it personal, vacation, bereavement, family leave or something else. Walmart and McDonalds are Fortune 500 companies and they don't pay either, so not even all of them pay. Amazon lets you file for a leave of absence... still, you have to wait a month (or more), to get paid, and they're another Fortune 500 company. Those 3, employ like 5M people. I know people who work for engineering companies, GIS firms, and alike and none of them get paid out of the companies pockets. Again, that's why I said "many" isn't the adjective I'd use as it's ambiguity implies at least half or more and why I said "some" or "a few" would be better descriptors as I believe the vast majority of companies do not pay you.
-
Ok, we'll just have to agree to disagree on the definition of "many". That's fine.
