Girls' track and field athletes don't stand on podium next to trans athlete at Oregon state championship
TBayXXXVII replied to jbycho's topic in The Geek Club
With abortion, I'm actually fine with making it legal... I just think that the woman killing her kid should have to pay for it. It's shouldn't be on the taxpayers dime. Her body, her choice right? Well, her choice, her money. Another big talking point by the left is that women struggle making this decision? Fine, let's either call their bluff or help. In order to get an abortion, a woman must be required to seek outpatient psychiatric care. AGAIN, another leftist talking point is how the financial burden on society if the woman is required to keep the child is far more than paying for the abortion. My argument is that if she's going through mental gymnastics over the decision and then dealing with it... it's far more beneficial for her to pay the couple thousands of dollars to take care of her mental health and abortion then the hundreds of thousands to raise the child. Personally, I'm against abortion. I don't think it should be legal. There are plenty of people out there who want to adopt an infant. There's people who will pay the mother for the expenses. Some insurance companies will cover some of those expenses on behalf of the adopting parents. There are other ways out than abortion. But, if we're making it legal, fine... you pay for it. You pay for the mental health help as the result. It's WAY cheaper than paying for the kid. Maybe... just maybe, more women will be more responsible in their decision making. As for the trans issue, let them play dress up all they want (if they're an adult), as long as they don't force society to play along. That's mainly what I mean when I say that the left should abandon their trans movement. Stop forcing and proposing legislation that requires society to play along in their delusion. If they TRUELY have a mental health issue, then that's fine, it can be dealt with... the thing is, those people aren't the problem. The social contagion is the problem. I'm willing to bet that 99% all trans people in this country are just going through a phase or are professional victims, have far leftist activist parents, or are just fock'ed in the head. Those with true gender dysphoria probably make up about 1% of this group. When laws, policy, and rules are made to cater to these people, it affects all of society, but 100% of all women and all times. Unlike abortion where it pretty much affect only certain age groups. Yes, all women go through that age group, but it's only 15% of their life. -

It does affect every woman. Any time a trans person is walking on the street, they can go into any bathroom, changing room, etc, that is afforded as a safe place for women. Schools and places of employment treat men as women, who claim they are, and that affects all women as well. It actually affects everyone, but predominantly women. Abortion only affects women in a certain age group. -

I mean pushing the cause of treating men who say they're women... as women, and vice versa. I mean, accepting a child's word for it and chemically destroying them. If an adult male says "I'm a woman, call me Jane." Fine. As long as the government, and "Jane", are pushing the agenda that "Jane" is allowed certain protections that are awarded to women, such as their own bathrooms, dressing/changing rooms, and alike... and vice versa. They want to get married... go ahead, I don't care. They're American citizens (if they are... lol). Whether they are a man or a woman, they're entitled to the same rights as any other man or woman, but if you say you're the other gender, you don't get privilege's afforded to those genders. I think if we stop catering to that angle, we'd see a massive drop in kids thinking they're the opposite gender. -

Because they're all competing for spots to qualify for awards, tournaments, and scholarships. Every times a guy is competing in a woman's sport, that's one less woman getting a spot to which they're entitled to. All of them are shifted down at least 1 spot for every guy. Again, projections are opinions, they're not facts. It is a fact that when a guy finishes in 4th place (for example), every female below that finish, is affected. That's not an opinion. Looks like you seem to have a problem differentiating between facts and opinions. No. -

In the state of Oregon, 100% of all female track athletes in high school, we're affected by a trans athlete. That’s just this particular case. It happened in Connecticut as well... and Maine (in fencing). Probably more leftist states as well. That's just 3 instances this year. LOL, and you're an idiot. They didn't say that 25% of women have had an abortion. They said that 13.7% have had an abortion by age 25... they "project", that by the age of 45, 25% could have one. Projections aren't facts, they're opinions. -

I just find this topic entertaining. Instead of Democrats saying they were wrong on this topic (which would be a net win for them), they keep minimizing it and laughing when it's brought up. The fact is, this is a bigger women's rights issue than abortion is. This affects EVERY woman, everywhere. Its not only about athletes, but in everyday life. Abortion only affects a very small portion of women. If they abandon the trans movement, they lose no one. There's no one on the right who's picking up that banner, so the trans community's only recourse is to stay in the LGBT conglomerate and pretend to be marginalized just like the L's, G's, and B's. The Democrats win because they can still pretend to care about all women's rights. -

UConn didn't make it. I thought getting to the conference championship game would've locked them in. Guess not.

My comment was more of a joke, hence the laughing emoji. The dude is doing something so great, that based on his prior accomplishments, it's considered mildly disappointing. Something like that is rather awesome to achieve and something we should all hope to be at, at some point in our lives. With respect to my WAR comment, yes, WAR can go up or down, but you can't expect someone who had a great year over a period of 23 starts, to be near that number after only 12. Right now, Skenes has the 2nd highest WAR (2.8), in the league (baseball-reference.com). He's on pace to be at 5.37 for 23 starts. Last year, he was a 5.8 for 23 starts... that's less than a .5 difference. Luzardo is first at 2.9. To note, Wheeler is 3rd at 2.3 and like Skenes, has had 12 starts. Using Fangraphs, Skubal is #1 in WAR at 2.6, Luzard #2 at 2.4, and Skenes at 2.3.
-
WAR is cumulative as the season goes on, so obviously it's down. Imagine being 22 years (23 as of yesterday), and someone tells you that while you are still producing as one of the 10 best people in the world at your craft, that you're "mildly disappointing".
-
Not really. The game is in KC. In 57 road games, Skubal is 20-19 with a 4.07 ERA. Last year was the only year where he had a road ERA under 4. This year, in 5 starts, he's sitting at 3.38. Not saying that 3.38 is bad, just that he's not the same guy that he is at home. If the game was in Detroit, then I'd side with you that it would be "ballzy".

Heard last night, during the Pirates/Diamondbacks broadcast that Paul Skenes has an ERA of 2.012 (yes, .012... that 3rd decimal place matters), in games pitched as a 22 year old. Dating back to 1915, only 1 pitcher has an ERA better, Babe Ruth at 2.011.

I liked Caglianone and had hoped he fell to the Pirates. He struggled in his first minor league romp, but meh, it was after a CWS run and playing with a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds that were a step down from what he was facing. Dude lit it up in his short stint in spring training and continued on in AA and AAA. I think that production can continue. He's a legit "true hitter", that has a ton of power. That's why I was hoping he fell to the Pirates. He'd instantly make our lineup better. That said, I'm loving the kid we got, Konnor Griffin. At 19 (just turned 19 only 5 weeks ago), he's hitting over .310 in A-ball and with an OPS over .880. In 41 games, he has 8 HR's and 20 SB. MLB Pipeline thinks he'll be up in 2028 and scouts have made comments that he could be on a Mike Trout pace. Trout was drafted in June of '09 and got to the pros in July of '11. Griffin was drafted in July 2024, could be up in Pittsburgh in August of 2026 is the comp they're saying. Now, this is the Pirates, so I don't think they're going to bring the kid up in August next year if they don't need him. They'll slow play him (like they're doing with Chandler), and probably not bring him up until 2027. Still, that's a year sooner than projected.

Exactly. You notice that ever since they pushed hard for abortion and transgender rights as well as the COVID vax, they've somewhat abandoned the "trust the science" mantra they always tried to shove down our throats? -
Yeah, sorry. I meant the quote from the article. The part where Gutterboy purposefully left out because of his agenda driven stance. It's why I don't really reply to his crap all that much. I think removing healthy pregnant women and children from the list is the right thing to do. Those cases should be handled by the doctor.

So what you're saying is that RFK is handling the COVID vaccine perfectly and leftists don't like it?

I think the people who used to say "Trust the science", called this kind of thing "evolution". That's not a money grift like "Climate Change" is, so they switched gears. -
