The extension was signed before 2019 season... but the extension didn't hit the the Chiefs cap until 2020. His rookie contract was what was on the books for the Chiefs 2019 season. It's like Lamb this year. Dallas' number for Lamb is whatever his rookie contract stated. This deal won't hit the books until next season.

In 2020, Mike Evans was #7 in total cash & #30 in cap hit. In 2015, Demaryous Thomas was #4 in total cash & #3 in cap hit. In 2019, Tyreek Hill was still on his rookie contract. He lost in 2020 and the Chiefs didn't make it 2021. He didn't get "paid" until he went to Miami. If you're talking cash, Thomas and Evans should count... only Thomas if you're talking cap hit. In 2024, CeeDee Lamb will likely neither be the #1 WR in terms of cash or cap hit.
