Your solution is more "impractical, impossible in large numbers, immoral, and frankly anti-American", than what he said or what's happening. Sure, fine people, nothing wrong with that. People pay fines all the time. After that though, what you said is completely absurd and goes against the Constitution. If they are legal, they should be citizens. If they're citizens, they can't be threatened with deportation. If they're citizens, they have the constitutional right to vote. To make people live here in fear, LEGALLY, with limited rights is a thousand times worse than deporting them. That said, I fully expect this to be a more mainstream liberal/leftist idea. Reason being, it makes them targets of the left to exploit. After 10 years or so, you can claim you were wrong (which we knew at the time), and fight for them to be citizens with all rights. That way when they get it, you can fear monger them into thinking that if Republicans get control, they'll take those rights away and deport them.

I find it entertaining that "slavery is bad", yet we're ok with essentially doing the same thing (just calling it a different name), with Hispanics. Back in the day, black folks were put to work on farms/plantations by property owners and given crappy housing, food, and a community. Today, the government is giving crappy housing, food, and a community, so that business owners can get cheap labor. Yeah, I know... (it's (D)ifferent), these people are getting paid. LOL Yeah, they're getting paid, less money (which is illegal), than the going rate of minimum wage and on top of that, the business owners don't even have to pay taxes for them.
