What are your thoughts on drafting Luck this year?
TBayXXXVII replied to seafoam1's topic in FFToday Board
Come on guys, let's be realistic here... do you really think everyone in the league would allow Luck fall past the 10th round? No. It's why I said that I wouldn't take him. I'm not taking him as a QB1. I'd take him as a backup... round 15 or so. I honestly don't think Luck is all that great anyway. He's a solid QB with more hype than production. If his defense is even remotely decent, then he's no better than Joe Flacco (for fantasy purposes). -
Which rb would be ranked 4 after the top 3 are gone? Gordon? Mccoy? Freeman?

Andy Ried did pretty good for himself in Philly too with Westbrook and McCoy. -
M. Bryant is Josh Gordon with less talent. For that reason, I'd rank him 1 slot below Gordon.
-
I have Kelce #1 on my TE board... I'd take him in the 4th.

... and that 4.0 ypc would have put him tied for 23rd in the league with guys like Latavius Murray, Terrance West, Christine Michael, Lamar Miller, and C.J. Anderson. That's not very good company. -

I get where you're coming from and while you may be right, I think it's the wrong approach. You're just basing it on total points scored and not by impact. If Elliott is suspended for a few games, he will definitely score less points this season, but in the games that Elliott plays, I believe he outscores Gordon. In games Elliott misses, you don't take a 0, you can start someone else. There's no way I take Gordon over Elliott. -

I wouldn't draft him at all... regardless of the round. -

You could stop there, drop the mic, and win every argument you ever get into with just those 2 sentences. -
Outrageous predictions, you believe WILL come true..........

Keenan Allen finishes in the top 7 WR's. -
I like Clay Travis in the morning on Fox Sports.

Yeah, aside from death and taxes, the only other guarantee is that both Gronk will get hurt. It's not "IF" with him, it's "when".
-
I actually thought that was a bit too early. As of right now, he's one of three RB's on a team that has shown ZERO reliability on who's going to get the most touches on a given day... and now there's three! Plus, their OLine is quite suspect. In a re-draft, I won't even have him on my board.

Thanks to ESPN's liberal movement, I switched to Fox Sports and found that they are significantly better! Thanks ESPN for helping me find the best programming out there.

I always liked Greenie a lot more than Golic personally. Back when I used to listen to ESPN, if Golic was out, I'd still listen to the Mike and Mike show, but not when Greenie was out. I do like 3 as host, and it's possible he's not a good fit for Golic, but my guess is that it's because of Golic and not 3. I do like Ryen Russillo though. I thought the Russillo/Kanell show was even better than Mike and Mike. Those two were great. Just another reason to stop watching ESPN in my opinion.

Beckham and Evans are different because they're on the same plane as Brown. Cooper, I honestly don't think he's all that great. I think he's a solid player... that's it. I don't think he's a WR1 in fantasy and I don't think he ever will be. I guess the biggest difference in our opinion's is that you think Cooper will get better... I have significant doubts on that. Watching him play, I'm underwhelmed. Nothing about him says "special".
-
I think you gave up too much for a huge boom or bust WR who I don't think will ever be much more than a fantasy #2 WR.
-
My statements were in response to Ray T's point that "Most top WR's are playing til age 35 these days. some longer." "These days" is relative, but I'm not going back to 2000 for "these days", I'm going back 5-7 years. In that time frame, you're talking about 2010... the total number since 2010, is 2 . If you include go back to as far as 2007, then you're at 9, but really on 7 different players (Mason and Owens did it twice). Since my point was that Jordy is 32 and has 1 to 2 years left of top play in him, I'm going to say that I'm pretty reasonable. No?

No, I assure you, I get it. You're making the exact same arguments I was making a few years ago when I said that the Bucs shouldn't draft Winston because he shows a continual lack of good judgement. You know what, I was wrong and Winston grew up. I'm giving Elliott the benefit of the doubt that I should have given Winston. Don't tell me what Winston did wasn't as bad. At the time, there was cause to believe he raped a girl. Elliott did nothing that severe. "How does the league or the team tell a guy to get his crap together before something serious happens?" With words. That's it. If he doesn't get it, that's on him. Personal accountability. It's that simple. History is full of examples of what you should or should not do or say so he knows what's right or wrong. You just enforce it by addressing him about it. Suspending him won't change anything. Fining his isn't going to change anything. You know as well as I do how many players have been suspended or fined multiple times for the same offense. What he did isn't that big of deal. When he does something that is a big deal, then it can be addressed. Until then, it's on his family, friends, teammates, and coaches (the league can chime in too), to tell him to calm down. If he doesn't, that's on him. -

The comparison to Manziel is my point. What he did was obvious red flags... what Elliott is doing, is nothing. -

The girl was this year? I thought that was reported this year... but happened last year. My bad. Speeding? Meh. Present at a bar fight? Wow, that happened to me too!!! Holy cow. What are the odds, that me when I was 24, was doing the exact same three things as a pro football player!! Lucky him, he did it at what, 22 and is making millions. Me, I did it making $35k. Fortunately for me, I never got suspended from my job. Guess I was really lucky. While my previous statement is sarcasm, it did happen. LOL To which my reaction is... I don't care. I never caught flack from my employer and while the sissy state of our country may warrant the league to suspend him, I'm not going to care about his status until he does something truly serious. -
Big win for the guy getting Julio.
-
This is about what I was expecting. That's not a lot and it's very rare for 34 year olds... as you saw, only 3 were able to crack 1,000 from 34 on. So as I said, I give him 1, maybe 2 years... but that's it.

Out of curiosity, what was the trade?

All this stuff that Elliott has done was back in college... just like Winston. -
35? I think you're being a little too generous. I went back 5 years and found only a small handful of players (Fitzgerald, Boldin, Wayne, Andre Johnson, and Steve Smith), at the age of 32 (or older), that cracked the 1,000 yard mark. Wayne was the oldest at age 34. None at 35.
