Any thoughts on Kaepernick's possible destination?

    Home Depot is still hiring....

    Rookie Dynasty Mock Draft

Williams would be my #1 option for WR's, not Davis. I'd probably take Ross over Davis too. Mainly because I trust Rivers and Dalton more than Mariota.

Instant Fantasy Analysis - TE O.J. Howard, Bucs

My point wasn't necessarily for long term, just this year. If you're looking at taking him top 5, I'd rather have a little more immediacy than 2018/2019. In the passer friendly NFL, we're seeing WR's rise quickly... while TE's still don't. I wouldn't take Howard over any WR, especially since TE's have a high bust rate, even the "projectable" one's like Ebron, Pettigrew, Seferian-Jenkins, and Gresham. I'd rather take a shot on a guy like Everett in the back end or free agency and use my 1st round pick on one of the RB's or WR's.

I wouldn't think the players would change as much as the order.

Instant Fantasy Analysis - TE O.J. Howard, Bucs

Just a word of caution to those in dynasty leagues. If you draft Howard, he won't be startable in his rookie season. He's going to be the 4th (at best), receiving option on the team and won't even be the starting TE on Day 1. "IF" he ever does start, it won't be until late in the season (or if Brate gets hurt), and TE's always start off slow. Colleges never really develop TE's because they don't seem to know how to. There's always a big learning curve / adjustment period. If Howard logs more than 30 receptions 400 yards and 3 TD's, I'll be shocked.

Instant Fantasy Analysis - TE O.J. Howard, Bucs

Brate is a very good blocker and pass catcher... no matter what Howard brings, it will be a downgrade. Brate's numbers last year are better than what any rookie TE has EVER done. There's a 0% chance that in 2017, the Bucs offense would be better than it could have been with Brate and a slot WR than they will be with a 2 TE set. TE's always take time to adjust to the NFL, so any upgrade he provides won't happen until later in the season. I don't doubt he could be great, but as I said, from a Buccaneers (not fantasy), perspective, he's a luxury pick that Tampa really isn't in a position to afford.

    ** 2017 NFL Draft Round 1 - Discussion Thread **

With guys like Bolles, Conley, Peppers, McKinley, & Charlton available... I think the Bucs really dropped the ball by selecting Howard. Tampa doesn't need TE help. A WR in the 2nd or 3rd round plus a player previously mentioned would have been more to upgrade the team than anything they can do now. Howard should be fine, I don't really doubt his potential, but this would be considered a "luxury" pick and the Bucs aren't in the position to make those.

Instant Fantasy Analysis - TE O.J. Howard, Bucs

Winston was going to be fine with what they had, but would have been much better off with a WR than a TE. A WR would have had a quicker assimilation into the NFL than a TE. Not saying there was one available to take when they picked, just that even a 2nd round WR would likely help Winston more than Howard. Last year Brate had 57 receptions for 660 yards and 8 TD's. The only way for Howard's floor to be that, he'd essentially have to have the best rookie season for a TE all-time... considering no rookie TE ever accomplished that. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&year_min=1970&year_max=2017&season_start=1&season_end=1&age_min=0&age_max=0&pos=te&c1stat=rec&c1comp=gt&c1val=57&c2stat=rec_yds&c2comp=gt&c2val=660&c3stat=rec_td&c3comp=gt&c3val=8&c4stat=choose&c4comp=gt&c5comp=choose&c5gtlt=lt&c6mult=1.0&c6comp=choose&order_by=rec_yds&draft=0&draft_year_min=1936&draft_year_max=2016&draft_slot_min=1&draft_slot_max=500&draft_pick_in_round=pick_overall&conference=any&draft_pos=qb&draft_pos=rb&draft_pos=wr&draft_pos=te&draft_pos=e&draft_pos=t&draft_pos=g&draft_pos=c&draft_pos=ol&draft_pos=dt&draft_pos=de&draft_pos=dl&draft_pos=ilb&draft_pos=olb&draft_pos=lb&draft_pos=cb&draft_pos=s&draft_pos=db&draft_pos=k&draft_pos=p

    McShay's Final Mock

I can understand why Browns fans wouldn't like Trubisky because I don't think there's a chance in Hades that he turns into a franchise QB. Of course, I have been wrong before, so anything is possible. That said, if the Browns believe that Trubisky is a franchise QB, they have to take him #1 with no doubt. If that's what they truly believe, they can not allow another team who may feel the same way, have a chance to take him from them. I personally think their best option is to trade down and get more picks. This is a very deep draft and quantity is better than quality. If there's a team that likes Trubisky or Garrett, then the Browns should use that to their advantage. I'm of the opinion that Kessler, that they already have has just of high of a ceiling as all the QB's in this draft, so I wouldn't even consider drafting a QB in this draft.

    That's true.

coleman or freeman for starter role

I noticed that too, but because it's so early and there's nothing really to go by right now, that's all I can go by. Personally, while I think people learned last year by going 0 RB was a mistake (at least every league I was in, they should have learned that), I still think more WR's will be taken than that website is leading me to believe.

coleman or freeman for starter role

If an opportunity arises where you can get both, then that's fine. I think it could be beneficial, but if you say "really need both", I'm certainly not on board with that. According to fantasy football calculator, Freeman's ADP is 1.11 where as Coleman is 4.05. Yeah, I'm not doing that. That's essentially saying if you take Freeman, the next RB you have to take is Coleman. Nope. Not me. I'm not starting my team with 2 RB's from the same team. If I'm picking that late, I'm taking an RB in round 1 and then in the 2nd or 3rd. Going by that ADP, I'll take Freeman at 1.11 and then take Hyde or someone like him in the 2nd or 3rd, maybe Ajayi or a rookie. I'm certainly not taking Coleman.

I'd actually be willing to bet that there's one in their locker at all times.
  18. TBayXXXVII

coleman or freeman for starter role

I don't know about that. I drafted Freeman his rookie season in my keeper league. The following year, someone else drafted Coleman. Every year since, the guy who got Coleman has been dying to get Freeman... I never once entertained the idea of trying to get Coleman. I don't need or want him. Freeman will get about 300 touches, and produce just like every other lead back.

coleman or freeman for starter role

No, but I'd say he's in the tier just ahead of them. To make things clear, this is how I see QB's... Elite... 1 Tom Brady 2 Aaron Rodgers Great... 3 Ben Roethlisberger 4 Drew Brees Really Good... 5 Kirk Cousins 6 Matthew Stafford 7 Philip Rivers 8 Russell Wilson Good... 9 Cam Newton 10 Andy Dalton 11 Derek Carr 12 Eli Manning Solid / Still have things to prove 13 Andrew Luck 14 Ryan Tannehill 15 Jameis Winston 16 Marcus Mariota Average/Mediocre... 17 Joe Flacco 18 Matt Ryan 19 Alex Smith Need more time... 20 Carson Wentz 21 Dak Prescott The rest aren't worth ranking. LOL, until you look at the league as a whole, I didn't realize the full scope of just how bad the QB situation is in the NFL.
  20. TBayXXXVII

coleman or freeman for starter role

That's true about his contract. If I were him though, I'd do everything I could to make sure I had the best season possible. The situation he's in actually gives him more leverage than the Falcons. The Falcons saw that they need both RB's to make Matt Ryan look good and better. He's clearly a better back than Coleman. He should just say "this is my price if you want me to re-sign", then go out and play the season. If they don't give him his money, they'll either franchise him and pay him more than he probably asked for, or he'll walk and get his money elsewhere.
  21. TBayXXXVII

coleman or freeman for starter role

Ryan is mediocre and not special in any way. As you said, he got better because the team around him got better... i.e., he's like Joe Flacco and Alex Smith, he needs the team to carry him - not the other way around. He doesn't make anyone around him better. He is the perfect example of what happens when everything goes right. As in, no sustained injuries to anyone on the team. Easy strength of schedule. Timing of scheduled opponents. Things worked out just right. This year, odds are that there'll be a few OLine injuries, tougher schedule, they'll now have the target on their backs, and more focused opponent preparation. Because Matt Ryan isn't all that great, he isn't good enough to adjust. Next year, the Falcons will have to travel to Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, New England and the Jets. I see 2 wins there... if they play the Bears early enough in the season. At home, they get Green Bay, Minnesota, Dallas, Miami, and Buffalo. I see 3 wins there as I don't see them beating the Packers and Dallas. I'll give them a split in the division. That puts them at an 8-8 record. Add that to the fact that they'll probably have injuries that didn't happen last year... I put that at 6 or 7 wins next season because Matt Ryan just isn't all that good.
  22. TBayXXXVII

coleman or freeman for starter role

Meh, I expect nothing to change. Freeman will get the Lion's share and Coleman will get his, but it'll be like last year. That said, they won't be as productive. Ryan had a fluke year, he'll go back to being mediocre and as a result, everyone else's production will fall in line. Regression to the mean, so to speak.

Eli Manning, scammer? Not a good look

So, in lawyer speak, can "helmets that can pass as game used" be spun as to Eli making sure that collector is getting what he's entitled to? Meaning, can Eli claim that his intentions were to assure the quality of the product being delivered will stand up to the highest scrutiny?

    Off-season dynasty, worst offer recieved

Last week I was offered Latavius Murray for Devonta Freeman (to the guy who has Tevan Coleman). The rationale (from his standpoint), was that Coleman will be the starter this year and Freeman will be a backup - because this Falcons regime drafted Coleman, not Freeman.
