Donald Trump named TIME magazine “Person of the Year”…
TBayXXXVII replied to posty's topic in The Geek Club
I hear them a lot on satellite radio. I always laugh at the idea that people will buy this stuff. Honestly though, I don't see this as anything different than colleges, groups, or companies paying former presidents and/or politicians $100k+ to come speak to their group for like 30 minutes. -
I don't think they need to dip in their own money as much as you think. The Dodgers average ticket costs $52.76 and with a seating capacity of 56,000... that's $239M if they sell out every game. Now, that's if they sell out every game, meaning 4,536,000 tickets sold. No, they didn't sell out every game, but they did get about 87% at 3,941,251 people. That comes to about $208M. They get $334M from their local TV contract deal with Charter Communications On top of the local deal, they're getting $60M from the national tv contract. Now, portions of the ticket sales is shared, right? But even though they're paying out... they're getting as well. What is shared among the 30 teams equally is ticket sales, merchandise, parking, & concessions, local tv money is NOT. So, let's assume that the Dodgers only get $140M from ticket sales, that still gets them to over $530M. Their payroll last year was $240M. I'm willing to bet that if you look at teams like the Yankees, Phillies, Cubs, Mets, etc, you're likely to find similar trends. Maybe not the same numbers exactly, but that when you total 60% of ticket sales, their local tv contract, and the cut of the national tv contract, they're operating at a profit compared to their payroll... and that's before you include their cut of the revenue that is shared equally. The larger markets all have this advantage. Does it work for every team? No, because they spend foolishly, but it's not a mystery why there's the same 7 or 8 teams that always seem to be in the mix every year, and those teams happen to be in large markets.

Good stuff. @purdygood, you have a starting point. Consult an attorney about a prenup and go from there. Give updates.

Twitter adopts 'poison pill' to prevent Elon Musk takeover
TBayXXXVII replied to Utilit99's topic in The Geek Club
He's still licking the wounds from the Trump landslide victory last month. It's hard for him to come to grips that the mandate from the American public turned on him. You need to give him time to cope. -
You'd think that would matter, but I don't think it does. LOL I have 3 cousins who went to colleges in Ohio... 1 to Ohio State, one to Toledo, and the other to Dayton. One of those cousins married a dude who went to Cincinnati. All 4 of them root for Ohio State in all sports, even when they play the school that they went to.

Imagine needing to be talked down to, when you went to an Ivy league school. -
Worms is the one who claims to be the lawyer, he's probably a better option than me for that. Though, with all the websites out there, I don't think you'd have a hard time finding a ready-made contract online. That said, I'm not sure you could make a non-citizen sign a legal US document and have it stand up in court. Again, I'm not a lawyer, only guessing. On second thought, I'm more convinced that @Engorgeous George is actually an attorney, more so than Worms. He's a better option as well. He also may have more info on marrying someone to make them a citizen. I don't think that is a straight forward as some may think. Kind of why I'm curious to see how this would turn out for you. Gotta be careful though. You get them all pregnant... you might need a 2nd or 3rd job.

You know what's funny, the vast majority of Ohioans would absolutely support this bill. If it were put up for the public to vote on it, I'd go out on a limb and say 80% of the votes would be a "YES"... 19% would say "NO - penalty isn't harsh enough", and 1% would say no... those would be the Michigan fans/transplants.

I think you should absolutely try it. Let's see how that works for you.

Remember that time you meant to tweet about the Denver Nuggets but posted the N word instead?

Still trying... real hard too. I'm merely making a suggestion. -

LOL, you try so hard to get gotchyas out of an "L", don't you. I never said I considered it racist. I accepted a premise that black people do. I do think black people should laugh it off if they have someone call them that and not let it bother them. If that happened, then there'd be a lot less people saying it. Organically, it wouldn't have the sting they believe it has. I don't say it because I know you libtards (yeah, I know you are), and black people are about the word, and I don't need the headache. -

That's who @Hardcore troubadour is talking about. I understood your post, and I believe he is as well, to be saying that the higher ups are the ones who want black people to say the N-word. That's who he's saying are Jews. I said liberals. What we're pointing out is that those people who you are blaming, are on the same side of the aisle that you are. The reason for that is because the people on your side of the aisle promote the ideology of exploiting black people. I'm sure that if you look critically, you'll find that the people you align yourself politically with, are the same people that are telling you that Republican's are the bag guy... but everything you actually see... is the opposite. This topic right that we're talking about, as you see it, is evidence of it. -

I wasn't deflecting crap, I was stating a premise. The premise being, black people say it's racist. So if that's the premise, then the use of the N-word is racist and NO ONE should say it. Now, if they want it to be apart of culture in the sense of it being in music and comedy, then EVERYONE should say it and stop complaining about it being racist. Personally, this is actually how I think we should go moving forward. Let's take the sting out of the word. Laugh it off. Stop allowing it to be an issue. If there's someone who is racist and wants to call black person the N-word, let him. When the black person looks at him and laughs and says "that's right b!tch", it stops being a trigger word. -

That's fine, it's the music industry pushing it. Then it's up to black people to stop it from happening and allowing the industry (which is dominated by liberals by the way), from exploiting them. Essentially, the black people are being bought. Now, I will agree to your second point to an extent. Growing up, I did hear black people say... but it was very few and far between. It wasn't until rap became popular where it blew up. The thing is, today, it's everywhere. Liberals and black folks LOVE to cancel things from the past, well, show us you're all not full of crap. Cancel, ban, and demonetize everything from the 80s, 90's so on, in the rap industry that used the N-word. -

Well, I'm glad you're slinking away from your false equivalency. At least you have some common sense. Clearly not a lot though. By writing it out "9 times" (I didn't count, I'm assuming you did), he's using that to make the point that black people say it all the time.... and he's right about that. That's why it isn't racist. A bizarro would indeed, where there are people in the world who can't see that. -

What goal posts? Dude, you are so lost and deep in a hole to prove something isn't there. You're the one making a false equivalency as justification. Guido, greasy, daego, whatever... none of those offend me. If they did, I certainly wouldn't broadcast it all over place or put it in a song. I don't know about Jews. What words/phrases are they offended by, then give me examples of Jews using it in everyday life, put them out there in society, or even make songs with those words or phrases in them. Asians, yeah, apparently "Oriental" is an issue. So is gook or slant eye, and other words like that. Give me ONE Asian who uses those words as a staple in their culture in this country like black people use the N-word. Where have you seen people running around using those words to offend Asians? I never hear anyone use them. My guess is because that since they don't like it and don't use it themselves, it basically fades out. Weird how that would happen. GFOH with your goal posts comment. Pointing out that black people use the N-word everyday and ever making money on it's use, isn't racist. -

Yes if someone doesn't agree with their policies, then by all means, they should be voting for who they believe does. I just want to stop hearing the b.s. line of "I'd vote Republican if they could come up with a good choice", when they really mean, "I'd vote for a Republican if he were a Democrat". -

Help me out, I'm Italian. What words am I supposed to be offended or degraded by, that are used in everyday society, in music, and pop culture?
