It's not hard. All they needed to do was improve the menu and quality of food. Have a campaign that promotes that and if they do improve the menu and quality of food, then everything fixes itself. There's no need to "Re-imagine" or "Re-brand". I can't imagine them thinking a boring logo is "better".

The didn't need to refresh the brand because their base was still going there. They needed to increase the quality of the food and menu. It's literally like anywhere else... if the food and menu is good, word of mouth will easily do all their marketing for them. They don't need to whitewash the image.
