I said Russia could have eliminated Kiev. That's different than what happened. There are still people living in Kiev and government still running out of Kiev along with major govt buildings still standing in Kiev.

I will say Russia has shown some restraint in that they could have just fired missiles into Kiev until it doesn't exist anymore, but they didn't.

The point is to get Zelenskyy to agree to a deal the U.S. is OK with and feels they can get Russia on board with. How they go about it does not matter so long as the U.S. doesn't cave to agreements they do not feel is in the best interest of the U.S. or they get a deal that ends the war that doesn't commit us to something in the future we don't want to commit to. It's simple really.
