It is only the 2nd time in 10 years we have had an extended power outage, the first time was during the freeze and we still had our fireplace and i have indoor safe propane heaters. This time we bailed and went on vacation early. What is the cost to benefit ration of something that costs that much with all that associated maintenance that you only use rarely. If solar panels ever drop and electric cars ever become reasonably priced i think that would be the best way forward, although I feel like we have heard for last 10 years that solar panel prices will drop "soon" and electric car prices will drop "soon". I am not sure if i believe that they will ever become reasonably priced. Edit: We had 80 mph sustained winds, who knows what that would do to solar panels.

That article is wrong, our neighborhood just had the power restored this morning and power went out on Monday morning. We would have been without power for 2 days and there are still people without power. My company just sent out an email that the office i work out of is closed and does not have power.

We are on our summer vacation, in El Paso right now and then Taos next week.

I am stuck living within driving distance to my wife's parents, which means somewhere within 10 hours of el paso. Denver is within that limit, but cost of living is too high. I can have a better life living in houston than denver, because if my company transferred me from houston to denver i would not get a pay raise. Plus everyone in my company wants to move to denver. My college buddy who works for the same company works there and it took him 3 years to get transferred there.

Supposedly power was restored to my house this morning. Our fridge/freezers will be awful to clean out when we get home.

Time to drink a good old ~40~ ounce Ole English. Is this the correct thread for that?

I like them to know that I understand what it is like to be vegan, so in teams chat I like to end my responses with fruit and vegetables. Any other tips?

Steam deck is hugely popular at one of the nerdy/game site I post at. It doesn't fit my use case and I have previous posts on here bashing it, however I was wrong and it was a success.

I use a 10 year old Garmin that couldn't have cost more than 100 dollars back then on my bay boat and it works as a fish finder just fine in depths greater than 8-10 feet. Any shallower than that it gets confused and you probably want a more expensive side scanner.

Like that Bozeman restaurant who served raw morels that killed people, these are mushrooms 101 beginner type stuff. I am not a mushroom expert, but I have picked and eaten both morels and queen bolete. I did tons of research before I ever ate a strange mushroom. I honestly have no idea how people make these types of mistakes.

@Fumbleweed provided good advice. There are lots of waterfalls and some you can swim/wade in, although you would want to be there early on the weekends. If you are interested I can look up the one I visited. It was close to a botanical garden as well. My inlaws liked the garden the most.

I think it is obvious that they are pushing the liberals as the good guys. They are making the more sympathetic characters have liberal issues, like abortion, and the more jerky characters they are portraying as conservative, ie firecracker. But even if they portrayed both sides equally, i am just not that interested in a show that is about conservative/liberal fighting. I probably open only about 1% of threads in the geek club anymore. If it wasn't for the last dynasty league i would probably just bail completely.

They diverged from the comics, butcher should have killed homelander last season. Who knows what happens now.

I don't think everything in the world needs to be about one political party fighting against the other one and that is what they are doing with starlight/firecracker as the main theme through first 3 episodes. I have not watched the latest episode because i am just not in a rush to watch this show anymore. I think that politics barely affects us in our day to day life and yet the media tries to make it out to be the most important thing in the world. The problem is the media is good at their job and getting better. Just look at this forum and how many posters were barely political 10 years ago and now they absolutely hate everything about the other side, not saying any names, voltaire, but there may be an example here or there. I don't want that same mentality to filter into TV shows and I am not that interested in this show anymore. I will watch it when i run out of other stuff to watch.
