Judgments last 20 years and can be renewed. You man not have anything now but they will make sure you have nothing in the future as well. And as far as filing bankruptcy if you did get sued(and lost) you will have nothing for at least seven years as that will crush your credit. Also don't forget your defense cost. If you continue to work as an independent contractor I'd be checking into some liability insurance. Actually I'd be looking for a different job where they appreciate what you do.

I do not believe a 13yr old can be held legally responsible for the late fees assessed by the library as she is too young to enter into a legal contract. I would sue the library for the late fee and shove it up the judges asss. If you paid the late fee, why the trip to court?
