Trump Corruption Thread - Qatar ‘gifts’ Trump a luxury jet
SaintsInDome2006 replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
No, the tolerance his followers have for his corruption is limitless. -
I do fully support Ukraine. It’s a different issue, but then again ti me it’s in support of America & our historic support of democracy for our defense & for the rights of individuals everywhere. Thanks for responding, I’m off to a crawfish boil but glad to discuss further later.

I’ll just ask you - are you in favor of suspending the Constitution? How about just getting rid of it? Sincere question.
-
Conservatives & liberals alike support the Constitution. If you’re against the Constitution - and a good deal of this administration is - you’re not a liberal or conservative, you’re not democratic or republican, you’re something else.

No need for all that, I deleted the post after I looked at Miller’s comment. But since you did comment. There’s nothing conservative about this.

Acting President Stephen Miller says the White House is considering suspending habeas corpus.

Trump names Jeanine Pirro interim US attorney for DC
SaintsInDome2006 replied to Mike Honcho's topic in The Geek Club
No, before, he was judge, before he was Dep AG, he was a trial attorney for the DOJ’s Public Integrity Section. He did trials as the actual trial attorney for 12 years. He prosecuted officials in both parties. -
LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs

I'm not really asking anything of you, seriously. I just meant that those times of sacrifice you mention were always caused by factors outside the nation's control. Not this. This is one man making choices that fly in the face of economic principles which have been known for 80 years now. And I'll just add that the comp for all this 'sacrifice for the fatherland' talk as to unnecessary deprivation has its best comps in Soviet and Maoist-CCCP history. -

Name one time these sacrifices were caused by the conscious wrongheaded choice of our President. Except maybe Hoover ramrodding tariffs through and tightening money supply in the face of the Great Depression. -
Trump names Jeanine Pirro interim US attorney for DC

I don't know where you got that. Holder was lead prosecutor on the Rostenkowski prosecution and other corruption cases. I'm sure you remember Rostenkowski was a powerful Democrat. Hodler was in the DOJ's public integrity division. That's the division that has just had its leadership resign after publishing a letter detailing they had received political pressure from the White House to drop charges against Mayor Adams. But Holder was someone who had been appointed by Reagan (!) and who had prosecuted people from his own party for corruption. -

Trump names Jeanine Pirro interim US attorney for DC

Pirro has never done a federal trial much less any corruption or regulatory work. An Assistant US Attorney leads and prosecutes trials, "Assistant" doesn't literally mean "Assist", it means they are under the US Attorney. Even the US Attorney in your own district likely has years of prosecution experience as an Assistant US Attorney, that's typical. -

Holder had 13 years as an assistant US attorney, including work prosecuting corruption cases, and he was confirmed by the Senate to the DC district bench after nomination by Ronald Reagan where he was a judge for 5 years. So that's 18 years as judge and prosecutor in DC including federal trials and corruption investigations. -

Cain is probably the best one, but even he did not meet the legal requirements for Chief. IMO Trump likely picked him because he loves the "Raisin' Cain" moniker, like he liked Mattis because they called him 'Mad Dog'. Then Mattis ended up doing actual work at which point Trump fired him. -
Trump names Jeanine Pirro interim US attorney for DC
SaintsInDome2006 replied to Mike Honcho's topic in The Geek Club
Well frankly IMO 2 years as county judge and 10-11 years as a county DA even in a big county like Westchester doesn't qualify for US Attorney for DC. Just as an example, to avoid all the Obama / Trump stuff, the US Attorney for DC picked by Bush Sr. had been an Assistant US Attorney, and had years of experience at DOJ. Has Pirro ever tried a federal case? -

Eh, a county judge for a few years. County prosecutor. Her own husband was committing felonies in their own house. -

Ok, but you raised this point, not me. Yes Pirro is Trump's friend. That is actually a different, separate problem. Yes like several at Fox she attends events at Maralago or just personally knows Trump. But Pirro especially, her felon ex-husband was Trump's lobbyist and she personally lobbied for his pardon. Trump is also a big fan of her show. He wailed when she was suspended from Fox and after she lost her show. He regularly comments on her show like he does other Fox shows when they're on or just after on Pravda Social. Right now off the top of my head these are the Fox people Trump has nominated or named to cabinet or near cabinet positions: Pirro - Fox news host - USA DC - will have oversight over any Trump administration corruption or criminal issues. Hegseth - Fox news host - Secretary of Defense. Duffy - Sec. of Transportation. Gen. Cain - Fox news pundit - Chief of Staff, US military. Leavitt - Fox news pundit - WH press secretary. Tammy Bruce - Fox news pundit - State Dept. spokeswoman. Huckabee - US ambassador to Israel. Dan Bongino - Fox news host - Deputy Director FBI -

But about this, I know someone who actually bought art by Johnny Depp. I personally don’t get it. And I know other famous people, like Russell Crowe?, sell art for absurd amounts. Would these buyers really want or like that art if it was just Target Art? Would the fact a piece I like is something u saw stop me from buying it because it’s cheap or a knockoff? Maybe the buyer likes it. Maybe it’s an investment, maybe they really like it. I don’t know.
