Proportionality bias.

Shapiro is a really well spoken guy but sometimes he just seems to be speaking nonsense. We know who murdered McKinley and Garfield. Their assassins were in person, close up, with pistols, and they were arrested immediately.

Illegal immigrants charged in brutal murder during California home invasion, robbery

Again, it's not about you. I'm talking about maga in general. But OTOH, Irish and Italians & Sicilians, and in some places German Catholics, were hated too, but look now. Same goes for Cubans I guess, once reviled by the far right now they're stalwart protectors of the red majority in Florida. Look at Rubio & Cruz (who wasn't even born here) for god's sake. As for Sudan you and I might well be in agreement there. -

Illegal immigrants charged in brutal murder during California home invasion, robbery
SaintsInDome2006 replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
I fully acknowledge the reality. I’ve been born raised & lived in one of the most dangerous cities in America. I know crime victims & people affected by crime & I’ve known prosecutors, cops & investigators, people I love & respect. As a matter of fact IMO this whole debate undercuts the crime issue. Trump has cut back on units dedicated to transnational crime, international crime orgs, gun running & political corruption, not to mention funding of police. -

Ellis Island is definitely an exception. There were a myriad of other ports of entry including non-US like Toronto & Veracruz. Eh much respect to you & your family but the certificates of birth don’t tell how that branch & it’s forbears got here. -

I’ll try to pay attention better, thank you for the comment. My point was just that Armenians & other people in the Caucasus have lived in L.A. for decades with little worry for decades. -

However - among other issues - foreign travelers who are doing so legally are having their phones & social media checked by TSA. And Americans & others with legal authority to be here being deported & even renditioned to foreign jails. While the president himself, who now rules by fiat, declares that due process is unnecessary and that he doesn’t think he has to follow his oath to uphold the Constitution. Stories like this have no bearing on reality. There isn’t a war, there is no sedition from immigrants, and immigration legal or illegal doesn’t increase crime in this country, from any ethnicity much less Georgians. -

If Georgians were flooding into this country instead of Mexicans most of maga wouldn’t care. In fact most Americans couldn’t show their paperwork for how their people got here. And immigrants commit crime at a lower rate than US citizens. I’m in favor of enforcing the INA. If you want to enforce the law enforce it, don’t dig up random anecdotes to justify elimination of immigration altogether by scaring people. -

It has a lot to do with Caucasians coming to this country & L.A. in particular & having a perfectly fine reputation. There could be a hundred explanations for this story but the one reported element is “illegal”. -

Georgian on Georgian crime in Woodland Hills has to be the most anecdotal, anomalous story in world history. When did they get here? How did they get here? Did they know each other? What was the motive? -

The victim’s name Aleksandre Modebadze suggests these people knew each other. They sound Caucasian, maybe Armenian, Azeri or Georgian. “Vili” is a common ending for Georgian names. -

This suggests she was caught in April 2024. >>This case was investigated by the State Department’s Office of Inspector General and Diplomatic Security Service.<< Trump fired all the inspectors general, including the State Department IG, almost certainly the one who uncovered this fraud. He also fired the head of DSS. -

Funny, yeah she has a Twitter account that follows 3 people: Donald Trump, Tulsi Gabbard & Tucker Carlson. -
Trump has been consistent on this since 2016. The ABC interview with him about the copy of the DOI hanging in his office suggests he’s never understood it or read it, he has no idea what it says or means. When asked about his favorite part of the Constitution once he said “Article Twelve.” His whole movement & very psyche is anti-Constitutional.

This is what I don’t get. Liberals are typically secular, heck they’re called socialists & communists here & in RW media all the time. And it’s the right that poses as evangelical, Trump loves to surround himself with the megachurch & TV preachers. And yet Trump’s evangelical base cares not a whit for this apostasy, because their faith is a thin veneer or entirely non-existent. (& yes I realize he has a strong contingent of nihilists).

Buddy, anything coming out of Russia is worth a bag of rusty nails, and especially some random anon dude in a car talking about a thing he claims he saw. The whole point is to get you to use a Russian search engine, which might be among the most foolish things you could od on a computer.

Pete Hegseth texted war plans to a reporter by accident
SaintsInDome2006 replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
Whoa who whoa. You're arguing that Biden needed someone to secretly sign his own name to his son's pardon? Or Liz Cheney's? And select them for pardons? And this secret person (who would be...?) didn't want to include Biden himself in that? And the blanket pardon was ok because... why? After the March Rich scandal - which was absolutely disgusting - a whole process of DOJ and WH counsel review was set up to prevent corrupt and just bad pardons. And Trump eschewed all that in the prior and current term. Who made that list of drug convicts and Jan6 names, you think Donald did that? And frankly I'd rather you tell me Trump's en-masse pardons were done by someone else because some pretty awful violent people got out. As much as I think poorly of DJT I'd really like to think my president was not personally reviewing the files and approving each of those names. And I'm not talking political stuff. -

SaintsInDome2006 replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
Well you raise a good point - didn't Trump pardon a bunch of drug dealers after the visit from Kanye West and Kim Kardashian? And didn't he just do it again with Jan6 convicts? I mean I'm all ears, but you believe or know that Trump personally sat down and scrawled out those hundreds of pardons? -

SaintsInDome2006 replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
I seriously doubt the veracity of that claim. But ok take the pardons - is there anything the maga crowd and Trump himself would love more than indicting Liz Cheney or Hunter Biden? They're not going to reverse or cancel the pardons because claiming they are illegal will just mean their own actions big or small could be reversed on the same basis. -

I have news for you, Trump uses autopen and he used it frequently in his 1st term. All presidents since I think Clinton or Bush Jr. have used it. But no I do not like it.
