The original plan was much more sudden, IIRC it got delayed once under Trump (we were supposed to be out by the election) & then once again under Biden in the spring. I really don’t know how it could’ve been done without sending in more troops, then firefights would happen, then we’d be faced with a full on surge. Then we could send in more troops or just repeat the same situation.

Eh we signed a deal with the Taliban directly & it was for total withdrawal. Pompeo handled it personally & Trump spoke with Baradar. Btw NATO helped us take AFG last time, That ain’t happening if we do it again.

Just spitballin here but hey we *could’ve stayed, kept the stuff, & supported our allies, & held the base that was a valuable national security asset that cost countless lives & treasure.

But he has rights. He’s a permanent residents with guarantees from our country. As I’ve said twice if he lied he’s in breach, I’m just asking what he misrepresented. -

No actually. But I don’t think we should adjudicate people’s rights according to how or if we like them. I was just asking for actual information. If the guy lied on his application none of the rest of that stuff matters. -

Maybe I’m missing it but I don’t see the information they say he excluded? I see the part where the State Department says he’s a national security threat, presumably for protesting. -

When we were a proper country there was the issue of the anti-islamist video about Mohammed’s life. I was against taking it down off youtube. Later there was discussion about AQ/ISIS recruiting Americans & westerners on twitter & Facebook & I was all for monitoring that & the Feds asking for help from companies for that. Then there was the issue of Russia, China, Iran & NK spreading disinformation & misinformation online & I felt that companies should help the Feds there too. ***Upon request & voluntarily. -

I’m pretty sure I said the FBI in a local VA field office was responding to messages threatening physical harm to local school board members. I’m Catholic but it doesn’t matter what religion it is. & I’ll add I was also in favor of the FBI investigating radical mosques after 9/11/01, & for that matter they likely still do it & if so I trust them to distinguish between prayerful individuals & those who incite & threaten hatred. That’s the sort of work an FBI domestic terrorism unit should be doing. -

Well on the one hand you have four mean women saying mean things about Russell Brand (since indicted) on YouTube, & on the other you’ve got the FCC Chairman’s going on a far right wing blogger’s podcast to threaten the license of broadcasters who criticize or mock the president. -

If the FBI did a directive to silence anyone for its speech - for instance by threatening investigation - it’s explicitly not “ok”. In fact to his credit (yes) Pres. Trump issued an order prohibiting just that sort of thing. - So Carr violated not just the Constitution but Trump’s own explicit order. -

Actually no I don’t think you, HT2, think the FCC chair should personally instruct a big 3 TV network what it cannot say in its programming. I don’t think you believe that. The rest is just the point. It’s not that Trump should shut up, it’s that he doesn’t want you or any of us to hear what he’s saying. -

>>The FCC Chairman is threatening immediate action against Jimmy Kimmel, ABC, and Disney for deliberately misleading the public by claiming Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA Conservative. Chairman Brendan Carr calls Kimmel’s malicious lies are “truly sick” and says they should result in Kimmel's immediate suspension and may lead to ABC losing its broadcast license. Chairman Carr confirms the agency has a “strong case” to hold Kimmel, ABC, and Disney accountable for spreading dangerous, politically motivated misinformation. "This is a very, very serious issue right now for Disney. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to take action on Kimmel or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead." "They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest." "There are calls for Kimmel to be fired. I think you could certainly see a path forward for suspension over this." "The FCC could make a strong argument that this is sort of an intentional effort to mislead the American people about a very core fundamental fact, a very important matter." "Disney needs to see some change here, but the individual licensed stations that are taking their content, it's time for them to step up and say this, you know, garbage to the extent that that's what comes down the pipe in the future isn't something that we think serves the needs of our local communities. But, but this sort of status quo is obviously not, not acceptable where we are."<< Extreme right podcaster has FCC Chairmannonnhis DOJ’s yo announce new policy as to speech in America. -

That’s rather the point, old sport. Pretty much everyone who’s not a self-described conservative & actually plenty actual conservatives are pissed. The “joke” was Trump couldn’t give half a second to think about Kirk when asked. In response Trump’s FCC threatened to revoke ABC’s license. -

These are the comments that got Kimmel cancelled. - Trump immediately blows off a question about Kirk’s death as he’s obsessed about his own pet project obliterating the White House’s facade.
