“You’re Dead, Liberal”: Federal Agent Threatens to Shoot Veteran >> A federal agent blatantly violated a court order against using excessive force against journalists and protesters last Thursday by pointing a gun in a veteran’s face, saying “Bang, bang” and “You’re dead, liberal.” The Chicago Headline Club, a nonprofit representing journalists in the Chicago area, filed a complaint in federal court after the incident, which took place in the city’s Little Village neighborhood. Local residents had gathered to observe and protest a large presence of federal agents in the area, and Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino did not respond well or care to take the earlier court order into consideration. According to the complaint, combat veteran Chris Gentry was “lawfully standing on the side of the road voicing his opposition as agents were driving by in their vehicles.” That’s when an agent pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. That was just one of many shocking incidents that day. Bovino also allegedly threw a tear gas canister into a crowd of protesters, who, according to the complaint, were not violent or committing any crimes. Some of the protesters attempted to talk to Bovino and other federal agents there and were rebuffed. Bovino and his colleagues instead shoved several people and threw more tear gas canisters at them, according to the complaint. …<<

CNN’s chief has Washington talking about his private meeting at the White House—following which he urged the network to ease up on coverage of Trump’s East Room demolition, Status has learned. >On Wednesday, as Donald Trump tore down the East Wing to build his ballroom, the White Househad a visitor who raised eyebrows across Washington. CNN chief Mark Thompson made a rare appearance at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., according to multiple people familiar with the matter. The meeting was ostensibly about introducing to the administration the network’s new direct-to-consumer streaming product launching next week, laying the groundwork for officials to appear on CNN, a person familiar with the matter told Status. But given the swirl of speculation surrounding the cable network, with parent company Warner Bros. Discovery having publicly put itself up for auction, the question of Donald Trump’s animosity toward CNN, and how that might manifest itself in the process, is very much on people’s minds. … Still, staffers were taken aback the next morning, when Thompson suggested during the daily network editorial call that it should ease up on covering Trump’s East Wing demolition, claiming that their viewership isn’t all that interested in the story, according to two people familiar with the matter. The comment struck many as bizarre coming from Thompson, who despite carrying the editor in chief title generally tends not to wade too much into the minutiae of the network’s editorial process. “There is zero truth to this conjecture,” a CNN spokesperson told Status in a statement after this story was published. The guidance suggested Thompson was trying to soften CNN’s coverage of Trump on an issue the administration has sought to keep out of public view as polls show most Americans disapprove of the action. Whether or not the East Wing project was among the topics of conversation during Thompson’s White House meeting, the timing felt suspicious, with staffers wondering what coverage might be discouraged next. A network spokesperson declined to comment on the subject matter of the visit. …<< -
Former DOJ officials say Comey case is vindictive, call for dismissal “More than 100 former Justice Department officials urged a federal judge in Virginia on Monday to dismiss charges against former FBI director James B. Comey, arguing that the prosecution was fueled by political animus and not guided by legal standards.”

Pretty sure Biden had a higher number of removals than Trump1 did. Asylum is written into the INA & Biden sought to have Congress - the constitutionally responsible body - rectify the law it passed. -

Thank you, I agree, those are people who definitely practice what they preach. -

Honestly just the sound of a “regular” hurricane passing over your roof is an awful, terrifying thing. -

Thank you, exactly my feeling. Hell of a thing to face losing everything you’ve ever known & everything you were ever going to know. God bless those folks. -
No it doesn’t. This conversation where I’m supposed to accept an American being thrown into a terrorist style cell is not ok. That’s a values discussion.
-
My point is the Trump2 administration is seizing Americans without cause & using techniques best compared to the KGB, FSB or security forces in 3rd world dictatorships.

Poor people. There will be a lot of death & suffering incoming. Used to be the US used to provide assistance & aid in these situations. I doubt we’ll be helping our brothers in the Caribbean, awful. -
Happens all the time, frequently actually. Well, used to. Now in Trump2 CBP just breaks the law & removes people. Which… just encourages people to not surrender.
-
There’s a lot just plain correct in this piece about how Trump’s (lack of) mental health is affecting the situation.
-
Seriously, I’m sure Melania whispered to the doctors, ‘whatever you do don’t tell him what the M stands for.’
-
It’s redundant. This is is the classic ‘tree in forest falls with no one around’ question. They have no status until arrested & processed. The INA provides that people who had no intent to seek asylum are to be removed, which is why removal numbers were at times quite high in the Bush, Obama, Trump1, & Biden administrations.

Melissa is breaking multiple records. Size, intensity, pressure, & I think this is the latest Cat 5 in history. IIRC there’s also a stat out there that this is the first time there have been three Cat5’s in a single season. -
According to the INA people who enter without documentation but surrender themselves can apply for asylum.
-
Trump’s been walking crookedly for a while now. I’ll ask again - people only have MRIs when there’s something serious going on. Trump has no obvious physical injuries, and he just was made to do another cognitive exam, so what might be going on with him?
-
This is legit bonkers.

Congress has passed the INA & various reforms of it. That includes rules for asylum & procedures for applying for citizenship, green cards, work permits & other provisions. This has included allies who helped our troops & nation in Afghanistan, Iraq & the GWOT. The Trump2 administration is violating all that. What’s worse they are assaulting, arresting, detaining, & deporting even American citizens. Everything about this is a violation of congressional & constitutional order. The saddest thing to me, aside from the brutality, is the disregard & disrespect for American promises, our nation’s word & assurances to people who believed in the American dream. -
>> The White House has signed off on a list of at least a dozen directors of ICE field officers who are set to be reassigned in coming days, the two DHS officials, the former DHS official and the federal law enforcement official said. They said that at least half of them would be replaced with Border Patrol officials. ICE has 25 field offices around the country, so the move could replace nearly half of the agency’s leaders. The list was compiled by Corey Lewandowski, a special government employee at DHS who advises Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and Greg Bovino, the Border Patrol sector chief overseeing the agency’s operations in Chicago and previously in Los Angeles, the law enforcement official said. << NBC Few things going on here: - Kristy Noem’s paramour is making key decisions at DHS. - ICE leadership removed from their positions include the ICE Field Office Directors in: Los Angeles, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Denver, El Paso, San Diego, Seattle/Portland, New Orleans - Either deportations aren’t going as promised (claimed) or there are some things even the Trumpiest ICE officers can’t stomach doing, or both. - Usually purges have one result aside from the intended suppression of speech, elimination of suspected (real or not) rivals & ideological strays, & ramping up of fear in the ranks: incompetence. You get rid of experienced leadership who know how to do things.

He wasn’t fine, he was hospitalized, and we still have no idea what happened during the stay beyond the fact he got treatment no one else had access to at the time. In fact the cognitive test came some time after that. He still gets the vaccine even now, as that was part of his treatment this week.

If doctors recommend or request a cognitive exam that’s a problem for any President. Honestly if it had been reported Biden was asked to do one (no idea if he was, but if so) he might have been forced from office. But same goes for Trump1, or should have been. The guy bragged about being able to tell an elephant from a giraffe and while amusing it was also sad & bizarre, and actually dangerous considering what he does for a living (well besides country club manager).
