Well perhaps Pam Bondi is too weak and too liberal. She’d be the one handling it now.
-
Always a treat, fellas.
-
I'm not a liberal. The conservative argument says have it investigated by the Bondi DOJ via the Special Counsel law and to have the HHS or Treasury IG (who btw Trump has fired both IIRC) and have them prepare a report on how this thing happens. Then indict, because what you're describing is illegal. Is this still going on under the Trump administration?

I thought he meant SS payments at retirement, but obviously y'all are talking about welfare & such. - Ok. You get a SS number as a child, say. I take it when you say when you were born you mean your mother applied for one. Yes I think my mother got one for each of the kids in my large family all at the same time (so our numbers are pretty close to each other). But the only way a SS number works is if you get a paycheck. Then they draw out SS taxes & medicare/medicaid/FICA taxes because a person is working. A person doesn't get a SS no. as a child, sit around and do nothing for 50 years and then suddenly "get benefits." That's what's being described here.
-
Looking at it it looks like he doesn't know what's going on behind him. It's kind of funny. Didn't he get arrested for whacking someone with a chair or something?
-
Ok, I'm listening. Are these numbers emailed? Do they get SS cards in the mail? How do they know what their SS number is so they can present it to vote? I have never been asked for my SSN at a polling station, but I'm sure that's just my experience in Louisiana. TIA.

You think people are getting social security numbers but are not working to get them? That's not how it works.
-
Well, it means nothing. Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
-
I'm not going to demand a link, but let's say that's true - that would mean 2.1 million paying into social security and income taxes generally. What you're describing are employed wage earners.

We probably have different values. To me Biden was a normal chief executive, in the way almost all US administrations have been well managed and professional. In the end the US had the best post-Covid economic revival in the world, but that's not all. Programs functioned properly, agencies were independent and professionally staffed and led by experienced people. It's like the Eisenhower or Carter or Reagan or Clinton or any number of Republican or Democratic administrations of the modern era. People wanted that in 2020, they apparently did not in 2024.
-
I did say I understand your point. But you're saying they should be but you don't support such a policy because the government won't enforce it the way you'd like. Fair?
-
Well IMO just reading that you’re in favor of it and yes I get your point about government inaction and bias. It’s a serious difference in values for me. IMO it *should be illegal but also it is illegal in many instances & in a couple places it’s strictly forbidden by the Constitution. It’s fine though, I think it’s a lot easier to talk like this.

I’m glad to shake on principle but are you arguing that public officials - and their children - should be able to receive private, non-traceable money in unlimited amounts from whatever source? Or should that be a crime?
-
And when the actual President of the USA puts out a bitcoin that his company is a primary investor in with other investors, including international ones, by a factor of 1000x more value, what is that called?
-
Sorry do you mean ad as in advertisement? Or add-in or additional? Yes the Playbook series runs a number of stories as quick snippets. I do get your point, which is taken. Have a good one.

I didn’t post the link, but it’s the same link which forms the basis of the OP. The story about Trump actively working to raise prices is above the Biden story. The same piece features below the Biden book story a report about a new organization that will attack Republican Congressmen who criticize former cable tv morning news host Hegseth. The Biden book story being juxtaposed between these two stories just highlights the absurd choice the electorate made.
-
Actually yes, I don’t disagree.
-
Politico Playbook’s format is run 10 or so snips about forthcoming or expected stories.
-
Just to respond appropriately, and I’ve read the piece. You see this sort of complaint from the liberal side. When a book by a Woodward or Bolton comes out long after the information would have been useful, & they’ll say ‘oh now you tell us!’ But in the end the fault 100% lies with Biden. His time to get out was 2022, he would have been respected as a placeholder president. Instead, as he won and won well in 2020 his hubris told him he’d win again. In general his presidency, while very professionally & competently run, which is what he offered the electorate, lacked the urgency to match the issues he often talked about. We needed a Kennedy or Truman or Reagan, & we got maybe Coolidge or Ford, though really all past US comps fail in this era.
-
It’s a quote from your link. I’ll add the Trump just eliminated the NIH’s research funding in Alzheimer’s. No need to respond.

>>…In an interview yesterday with NBC News, President Donald Trump was asked whether American auto companies will be forced to raise prices given his new tariffs. His response? “I couldn’t care less if they raise prices, because people are going to start buying American-made cars,” per NBC’s Kristen Welker and Alexandra Marquez. Trump went on: “I couldn’t care less. I hope they raise their prices, because if they do, people are gonna buy American-made cars. … f the prices on foreign cars go up, they’re going to buy American cars.”<<

Pete Hegseth texted war plans to a reporter by accident

This actually highlights how bizarre all this is. Maga advertises itself as hating MSM, normal policy, journalism. And yet here is the head of the Trump CIA plugging a journalist into his chat. How odd. This would be like FBID Wray just whoops bcc’ing Tucker Carlson or some Rumble podcaster into a sensitive email chain. There is *no way a Wray would have such a person in his contacts but golly it sure looks like Waltz is in contact with Goldberg & apparently Trump (who also contacts the loathed MSM) is fine with it too. -

Today DNI Directo Tulsi Gabbard testified there was nothing classified in the communications & SOD “Pete”, the former morning cable tv morning news host, said repeatedly it wasn’t classified at all. Dir. CIA Ratcliffe testified no mistake was made. Have fun bringing evidence. -

I just asked for an example as an attempt to reach a common agreed upon principle, any of these will do. Thanks. -

Just one other thought - I think you’re talking about stochastic violence. So not a situation where someone calls to a crowd of followers for direct action against someone or something nearby but instead basically ginning up hate & calumny ti the point someone somewhere will act on it. What happened to Paul Pelosi is an example of that, & maybe there’s a left wing example of that.
