Earlier in the discussion I pointed out that a threat needs to be imminent & proximate, that is, realistic. Anyway thanks for the discussion.

The comp for that would be a politician speaking in a public square calling on a throng of thousands of loyal followers to storm a nearby public building. That would have imminence & a specific threat of violence. Yes I’d agree that person could at least be arrested.

It’s not actionable because no was incited because no one has committed violence at her instigation. But regardless I’m talking about the general principle that we agree should apply to all public officials.

Let’s just shake on this: a public official who incites others to violence should be removed & charged. The more sacred the institutions attacked, the more senior the officials attacked, the worse the sentence should be. Agreed?

Trump fired the IC Inspector General, the office that would be responsible for investigating this sort of thing in a non-partisan fashion. In fact he fired all of the inspectors general.

People react how they react. You can figure out right from wrong in your daily life all the time & I doubt you check to see what team jersey you have on when you do, I’m sure.

Political affiliation has nothing to do with it. It’s like a top executive at your office leaving a check for a million dollars on a park bench, and he says ‘Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?’
