Nations have tariffs, & with the US they’re almost all done through preexisting trade agreements. Some are free trade agreements where the tariffs are near zero. The UK trade deal was already like that, yet the US broke it anyway. The US broke all its trade agreements at once. Aside from that it doesn’t change the fact tariffs are just taxes, ad valorum or value added taxes or VATs. At some point the tax becomes more costly than the profit margin, you can imagine that doesn’t take much in some instances. In fact it was tariffs on tea & textiles that led to the Revolutionary War, it’s why we rebelled against England in the first place. Go look at the Declaration of Independence, you’ll see it there. And when taxes get onerous they act like sanctions. And sanctions are great when a Russia or Iran or Venezuela or North Korea are the issue & the whole world joins you. But when you step out alone & break all your contracts at once saying crazy shyte as the basis then all that happens is everyone stops trading with you, they trade with each other, & *you’re the one sanctioned. The really fun part is they use our systems & institutions for global trade to do so

We just pooped another $30 trillion onto the debt. Somehow I think ol' Don could find the money if he wanted to. -

Ha, would you like someone more skeptical than Tulsi Gabbard and John Ratcliffe to go through the CIA's stuff? They didn't even redact anything. -

Yes I happen to think it was one guy and the one guy was Lee Oswald. But I do not pretend to be right much less know much. I've just been looking at the 'they're hiding something' for a really long time and even Oswald's Soviet handler has spoken. The FBI and CIA have been gone through. The only person who never said anything was Jackie, and that's because everyone respected her feelings and what she went through. -

The Trumpistas actually released every square millimeter and ounce of remaining documentation loaded with CIA & FBI bits, but still zip on this. Maybe Donnie has the proof in his throne room in Palm Beach. -
Harvard & Trump Thread: Harvard files legal challenge over Trump's ban on US entry for incoming foreign students.

I tried discussing, let's try again. Comer got down to actual bank statements and DOT alerts on financial transfers. He found that as to the 'Big Guy' claim, 10% of 40% of 20% of 1/2 of the original proposed payment made its way into an account held by Hunter's cousin, Sara, and then she, in a totally separate transaction, issued $40,000 to Joe Biden, who was at that time a private citizen, all for a contract and company that never was completed. So $40,000.00 while Joe was a private citizen. Meanwhile, while president, and excluding the graft that went down in Trump1, Trump has had: - a $400 million 747 jet transferred to him. - Gifted a massive apparently invaluable jeweled necklace. - Had a hotel deal in Qatar that involves a golf course project as part of a $5.5 billion development. - Another hotel project in Saudi Arabia. - His own bitcoin program under his name and his wife's (who doesn't do 1st Lady stuff or live with her husband anymore), which has sold something like $2 billion in investments to foreign buyers, including Chinese, Arabs, Russia, etc. - Used the White House to host his TrumpCoin grifters and bribers, including apparently a leaderboard, again including the same host of Chinese, Arab, Russian buyers. IIRC this has involved purchases in the 10's and 100s of millions of $$$$$ at a time. -

I hear you but the man is open for business and a good deal of what he does seems like it would be on a Top-20 wish list for China, Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. -

I've heard the cruelty is the point, and I think that's true, especially for miscreants like Herr Miller. But I'm starting to think something else is going on, specifically an anti-Americanism and doing favors for foreign enemies, because that's who this helping more than anyone. -

I happen to agree with conservatives on this. This girl was robbed. But it’s 100% a sports issue. It’s not a question for federal interference & at a minimum it’s for the sports association governing the race & at most it’s up to the state legislature. Whatever rule this is that allows this it’s wrong and actually given the testosterone/ PED rules I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s already against the rules. -

It’s really a disgrace to the USA. It’s one thing to say we’re halting immigration, changing policy, etc. It’s totally different to break promises made. America looks like welchers, backsliders, liars to everyone, enemies & allies alike & that’s what we are. Our actions tell the truth. -
ICE captures illegal immigrant wanted for allegedly killing mother in DUI crash

I don’t really understand how making them face the reality of their deeds & subjecting them to punishment, up to even the death penalty is some kind of break. Shipping them back home where there are no criminal charges seems like it would make someone like this guy feel like they’ve been handed a gift. -

I disagree. IMO it’s a question of sovereignty & justice. They break our laws they face our citizens & our courts. I’m not demanding you feel the same way, & I’m not saying you’re wrong either, it’s just the way I see it. -

Because we already do. Minnesotans pay state taxes and federal taxes. Trying, incarcerating and executing bad guys is one of the most elemental forms of government.
