IMO the fault was in how the west treated Putin after Chechnya, after Georgia, after his ramping up of intelligence activities etc etc. Trump of course being a tv salesman & reality show host, hotel & country club manager, at the time had nothing to do with any of that. The kindest POV about all this recently is Trump is simply mind-bendingly stupid in not seeing the simple point you keep making, that Putin will do whatever he wants to do & that he is driven to cruelty at home & war abroad to reclaim the old USSR. Certainly Trump has been told your point face to face a hundred plus times.

Eh I’m right on this. Second Continental Congress drafted the Articles of Confederation beginning first in 1776 & ratified it 1781. The DOI included arbitrary laws by the King as well as the King’s halting of immigration. The United Colonies were an entity under the 1st Continental Congress then United States beginning roughly 1776-77. The 1789 Constitution was a clarification & strengthening of the executive viz the AOC, however the executive was considerably limited to reassure those who favored more disparate powers. Hence an entire Article dedicated to FFC & the depositing of immigration entirely with Congress. It wasn’t some lawless land prior to 1789.
