Al Smith Dinner, Trump wins the election

I laughed. But yeah, wives, girlfriends, daughters, nieces, it’s bad for them it’s bad for us (well those of us with women in our lives). -

Really. Pretty sure Trump & probably Stephen Miller & others have called it a movement. -

You're quite wrong about that. We have OB-GYN doctors leaving the city and state over concerns of prosecution. -
The NFL product on the field across the board - GARBAGE

I agree with a lot of the OP. Mahomes is better than good though, he's great. In fact how good he is appears to be solely related to how much KC is pushed. The defense has been too good really as has been the offensive line. But it's not just KC - yes, the penalties, the injuries, the way the players give each other free run out of bounds or in the tackling (& a lot of it has to do with the NFL's rules changes), the constant and long and unnecessary commercials, it's all often really unwatchable. -

What I meant by that was not just the fetus, but also the life of the mother, the possible health of the mother, the mother's ability to have future children, the health and life of the child, and other persons affected by a presidency here and abroad. -
I'd like to see this^^ chart dating to the beginning of the industrial revolution.

Ok, so you understand about confession. The forgiveness of sins. Baptism. You know that the Church doesn’t tell us how to vote. You understand about the competing virtues in preserving life in all shapes & forms. About protecting the Church & all its people, whether they be Haitians, Mexicans, Cubans. There’s more than that in balance as well. -

No, he may be well acquainted. Who knows maybe he studied theology at Vandy like Al Gore. I know he doesn’t know the difference between Catholic & catholic but apparently you do. -

Thank you for responding. So you’re not familiar with the sacraments or issues like free will, Aquinas’ balancing of moral virtues & sins, or anything similar. You’re really not in a position to discuss what the meaning of hypocrisy is in this context. -
Twitter adopts 'poison pill' to prevent Elon Musk takeover

IMO Musk will be obligated to pay regardless of who wins. But you raise a good point, if Trump loses Musk may not pay anyone at all. -

Well thanks. I can recall in my city conservatives used to complain because food like Popeye’s was offered at locations where they’d bus people to the polls. -

Aside from the vote buying scheme - couldn’t Dems, socialists, even illegal migrants just sign up for this? This reminds me of Mike Lindell who offered someone/anyone $5 million to disprove his election claims, then he welshed, then he was forced to pony up after being sued. My guess is Musk won’t like some of the winners because they don’t fit the mold & the same thing will happen. -

IMO foreign born immigrants paying for US votes is against conservative values too. -
You’re supporting a guy who hasn’t released his medical records or any actual medical summary in 9 years of running for office. We have no idea what he is or isn’t on.

I was actually expecting something along the Weiner Laptop / Hunter Laptop variety, but perhaps Harris isn’t viewed as a good target. -

I was referring to this post. I take it this is a gentleman who is a full on supporter of Donald & his Maga movement. -

I don’t understand the reference, I guess this is something he did recently? But I don’t know how much of Trump’s attacks like this really bother me, but no I don’t like the cursing & the event last night where he talked about an American sports hero’s package is indicative of behavior that’s beneath the presidency. -

My point was about attending the event & having a super fun comedic evening just the night after going on Fox & warning Fox viewers about him. IMO it would be a bad move. The issues you’re discussing well that’s a whole other issue, glad to discuss it. But yes I largely agree with Harris on a good deal of it. -

So I think yesterday or the day before I saw a post here by an obvious Maga guy just out and out praising & pulling for Putin. Maybe it was a troll post, I don’t know but he seemed serious. Not that that’s the rule but it’s out there. -

I’m not disgusted by this. IMO by & large racial identity politics is a bad idea. But I also don’t think Trump believes his own words, he’s largely an opportunistic populist who feeds off people’’s anger on things like this. -

Odd. I really wonder who the leftists are here. I go to Mass, I believe in smaller government & limited executive power, I work & save, Reagan to me was a great president. I respect the Constitution, & believe in defending democracy & allies abroad. But sure. -

I don’t recall being disrespectful towards you. And I won’t now. None of that has any to do with my comment, which had to do with political strategy & Al Smith, the man. I’ll add the way all convos return to pedophilia, transsexuals & the like is bizarre. Has zip to do with conservatism, the Republican Party or 99.999% of what Trump or Harris may or may not do as president. And to boot Trump will be just as bound by the ADA as Harris, though at the core of this is the ‘argument’ whether a US president should be subject to the law at all, because that’s the only way any of this makes sense.
