The first H-bomb level nuke with ICBM capability. Massive leap forward & specifically aimed as a threat to the US.
-
Sarcasm, but I’m sure you see my point about Kim’s constantly humiliating Trump. Take Iran. 150 soldiers were harmed in an Iranian missile attack. Trump opposed even awarding Purple Hearts. No response.
-
Of course I agree it was a long process. We could look at McArthur’s screwup. Or Bush’s canceling the payments deal. It was a long road. But that was a crucial moment. He still embraces Kim, loves him.
-
No I’m pointing out that was a second of two failed crises.
-
Absolutely that was an option. But I’m not suggesting that. I’m saying we did worse than nothing. The American president went to the last Stalinist, communist dictator in the world, physically visited his outlaw regime & embraced him. He could’ve played golf & it would’ve been preferable.
-
It likely has something to do with the development of H-bomb level capable ICBMs developed by 2020.
-
Trump likes to say things like ‘it wouldn’t have happened under my watch’. It might have happened nonetheless, or perhaps the US might have taken cyber steps like we did Iran, cut a deal like we did with NK under Clinton, or gone in like we did under Bush with Iraq. But we wouldn’t have done worse than nothing, which is what happened.
-
This is what I’m referring to.
-
Stuxnet. But also if there’s anything dumber than handing money over to corrupt theocrats it’s revoking the deal & getting absolutely nothing out of it. Btw that money we handed over wasn’t strictly money, it was their frozen assets they wanted badly. We had 1 shot at using it.
-
I’m saying the US wouldn’t have crawled on its belly & kissed his feet in the process of it. Even Obama sent Stuxnet into the Iranian nuke program.
-
North Korea developed their first active nuclear weapons under Donald’s administration.
-
Ok let’s pick another crisis. North Korea. On the verge of having a nuclear program. His reaction was to go to NOKO & personally embrace the murderer of Otto Warmbier. Now NOKO is developing ICBMs that can strike the US.

Your explanation is that Mike Pence - so desperate for money & a future in politics - became the first VP to refuse to endorse his president in reelection so he could sell more books. Remarkable. And then (!) this happened 39 times as people hand selected by Trump himself to lead the nation’s most critical sectors all - 39 times plus NSAs & COSs - all had books so they decided to revoke their own political futures in the GOP to tell people he’s a danger to the country.
-
So his record & character back to 2017 are important. What do you think about his own VP, his NSAs (except for Flynn), 1/2 his chiefs of staff, & 40 of his 44 cabinet members either outright opposing him or refusing to endorse him?
-
The man’s running for president.
-
IIRC just in the days & weeks ahead Trump was claiming there was no pandemic, no emergency.
-
I was more so addressing ‘the world didn’t end’ point, because it damn near well did.
-
No, I don’t blame him for a virus. I blame him for pretending it wasn’t happening beforehand & for pretending it never happened now. That moment was the single honest moment of his presidency.
-
I can remember the actual moment when March 2020 the stock market was falling a thousand points per hour. Do you remember that? Serious question.
-
You have no idea what I’m talking about, really.
-
Epidemic, oil was negative price per barrel, wild inflation, spiked unemployment, violent riot opposing transfer of administration, multiple turnover in cabinet, VP targeted for assassination. World didn’t end but it was a hell of a start.
-
Trump appears in a national program making out with Rudy Giuliani in a dress yet you support him. Go on.
-
Thank you for the hopeful silver linings, but… You might want to recall what happened to England under H8. The husks of edifices burned & looted still litter the landscape. Not to mention civil war & a period of dictatorship followed.
-
Tim, this is a terrific well written piece, but I’d move this to no. 1. His comments have become more intense, including today. This is the guy Washington warned us against and shielded us against. It’s a full on alert.

Twitter censorship poses a threat to national security

Online platforms shouldn’t post hacked data. So I agree with what Twitter did here.
