Fascist attacks on Individuals and Speech
SaintsInDome2006 replied to jonmx's topic in The Geek Club
When we were a proper country there was the issue of the anti-islamist video about Mohammed’s life. I was against taking it down off youtube. Later there was discussion about AQ/ISIS recruiting Americans & westerners on twitter & Facebook & I was all for monitoring that & the Feds asking for help from companies for that. Then there was the issue of Russia, China, Iran & NK spreading disinformation & misinformation online & I felt that companies should help the Feds there too. ***Upon request & voluntarily. -
How long is a quarter of an hour?? --- 25 minutes

I’m pretty sure I said the FBI in a local VA field office was responding to messages threatening physical harm to local school board members. I’m Catholic but it doesn’t matter what religion it is. & I’ll add I was also in favor of the FBI investigating radical mosques after 9/11/01, & for that matter they likely still do it & if so I trust them to distinguish between prayerful individuals & those who incite & threaten hatred. That’s the sort of work an FBI domestic terrorism unit should be doing. -

Well on the one hand you have four mean women saying mean things about Russell Brand (since indicted) on YouTube, & on the other you’ve got the FCC Chairman’s going on a far right wing blogger’s podcast to threaten the license of broadcasters who criticize or mock the president. -

If the FBI did a directive to silence anyone for its speech - for instance by threatening investigation - it’s explicitly not “ok”. In fact to his credit (yes) Pres. Trump issued an order prohibiting just that sort of thing. - So Carr violated not just the Constitution but Trump’s own explicit order. -

Actually no I don’t think you, HT2, think the FCC chair should personally instruct a big 3 TV network what it cannot say in its programming. I don’t think you believe that. The rest is just the point. It’s not that Trump should shut up, it’s that he doesn’t want you or any of us to hear what he’s saying. -

>>The FCC Chairman is threatening immediate action against Jimmy Kimmel, ABC, and Disney for deliberately misleading the public by claiming Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA Conservative. Chairman Brendan Carr calls Kimmel’s malicious lies are “truly sick” and says they should result in Kimmel's immediate suspension and may lead to ABC losing its broadcast license. Chairman Carr confirms the agency has a “strong case” to hold Kimmel, ABC, and Disney accountable for spreading dangerous, politically motivated misinformation. "This is a very, very serious issue right now for Disney. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to take action on Kimmel or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead." "They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest." "There are calls for Kimmel to be fired. I think you could certainly see a path forward for suspension over this." "The FCC could make a strong argument that this is sort of an intentional effort to mislead the American people about a very core fundamental fact, a very important matter." "Disney needs to see some change here, but the individual licensed stations that are taking their content, it's time for them to step up and say this, you know, garbage to the extent that that's what comes down the pipe in the future isn't something that we think serves the needs of our local communities. But, but this sort of status quo is obviously not, not acceptable where we are."<< Extreme right podcaster has FCC Chairmannonnhis DOJ’s yo announce new policy as to speech in America. -

That’s rather the point, old sport. Pretty much everyone who’s not a self-described conservative & actually plenty actual conservatives are pissed. The “joke” was Trump couldn’t give half a second to think about Kirk when asked. In response Trump’s FCC threatened to revoke ABC’s license. -

These are the comments that got Kimmel cancelled. - Trump immediately blows off a question about Kirk’s death as he’s obsessed about his own pet project obliterating the White House’s facade. -
Good news, everyone, we’re getting $17 TRILLLLIONN in foreign investment this year.

McSorley’s is cool because it looks like a saloon did in the 19th century. If you’re not into history & old 5 Points lore then the sawdust etc must seem dull. But also before the microbrew age they made their own beer, which was a real novelty. Less so now. One nostalgic place I liked in NYC was Chumley’s. Closed long ago now but they also had their own beer & it had a ton of police, FDNY & literary history. -
Elon says that Trump is in the Epstein files.

He’s not, he’s on flight logs on a couple trips with multiple legs. But it is also a false assumption that everything ‘bad’ only happened on Little St. James Island. The criminal activity happened in multiple states, sites & countries. -
Law enforcement produced it with ellipses in plain text. I don’t think the public has seen the full thread.

FBI Director Patel, you do think the victims are credible, right? -

Hey I’ve been there, the Hotel Jerome. I love that place. -
So stick to events. We know the facts now but there’s been very little discussion about the indictment & also the lack of a federal indictment.
-
No, but the thing with money seems real enough. Not talked about much if at all but TPUSA was a major financial enterprise. And magaverse is layered with podcasters & content creators who drive that whole world to the tune of great wealth and even power. The FBI Director was a podcaster & the Dep. FBI Director was a podcaster as just two examples. Kirk was a political organizer, activist, political advisor & content creator, & he influenced people. I think he genuinely held his beliefs but by the same token how he stood on Israel, gay/trans, Epstein etc was probably worth a lot of money.
-
Boy you got a lot here, not gonna drag this thread down or Charlie’s sainted memory with all this. Glad to elsewhere though.
-
When maga conspiracy-heads get a hold of something they won’t let go. The facts didn’t land exactly like they wanted so the pressure will build that the texts were fake and that ‘they’re hiding something’. Trump is often one of them. That will land with Patel.
-
Patel will catch the blame for this. The conspiracists need a head on a spike (besides the actual murderer’s).
