Something I don’t understand - ok this guy has an affidavit from 2019 from an arresting officer via a CI who said he was MS13. If ICE really believes that then arrest him for that & seek information on MS13 leadership & crimes committed. That’s how good law enforcement defeats crime. Interrogate & prosecute the guy.

The Hegseth branch of maga has argued for *loosening the rules of engagement based on the fact that all 4 administrations involved in Mideast wars spent an arguably absurd amount of time validating targets, even in active battles. Which means even less vigilance to ensure innocent Americans or foreigners of any stripe are harmed. If you think Awlaki & his son were improperly murdered then you should really oppose what Trump & Hegseth have done.

Multiple Americans - & Europeans - were killed fighting for AQ/IS. You don’t get warrants fighting in a war zone (that’s in a war) for an enemy terror entity vs US forces & the US itself.

I don’t understand the Awlaki argument, from a conservative POV. If an American joins a terrorist group & goes & fights overseas, he’s somehow off limits? Adam Gadahn was also killed by US air strike, same thing.

No it was one case. The 1st judge just relied on ICE’s reliance on the informant (which frankly I’m fine with). There was a second affidavit that said he was just picked up for loitering outside a Home Depot (ie looking for work), not for gang affiliation, so it was contradictory to begin with. The subsequent court did not even reference MS-13. as the 2nd judge released him. Here’s the most important thing - in 2019 the Trump administration’s ICE did not appeal the decision. Instead the Trump administration’s ICE just did his check ins like the Biden administration.

Yeah actually I went through that. NYC/DHS was spending $37.50 per prisoner per day. I think this comes out to over $100 per day now.
