The 45th president’s enemies on the right are mustering for a final big money showdowndesigned to crush his hopes of a third consecutive Republican nomination less than 50 days before voting starts in the GOP primary race. Nikki Haley will be the lavishly funded vessel carrying the hopes of the influential network funded by billionaire Charles Koch and top industrial and corporate donors who think Donald Trump is a risk too far next November. I don’t exactly disagree with much of what you say here, but it’s stupid to basically require people to stay legally married or screw over one of the spouses’s in the divorce because it’s their “fault” the marriage ended. You are speaking to a societal issue but these right wingers want to legally force people (women, mainly) to stay in marriages, which is insane.

To be fair, I recall some conservatives making this same offer in the past, I want to say before the January 6 Commission? It was rejected then as well. So I don’t think this is just a Republican thing. It is an interesting issue. It’s pretty typical to have a “deposition” or something like it before live testimony. But yes, it certainly can be used to cherry pick and potentially take things out of context. In a trial hopefully your own attorney manages to show the jury that this is what’s being done, but I suppose it could be different in congressional hearings and with the media blowing soundbites up into huge headlines.
