I think they looked at it as an opportunity to get a guy with first round talent (supposedly, at least) on the cheap and see if they could make something out of him. If so, great. If not, and dak is gone, then they’ll still be able to look for a replacement through the draft, trade or free agency. So I wouldn’t say Lance is *the* plan, but rather a potential option that they’re hoping may pan out.
