I don’t know why you’re conceding that Trump lied about getting grazed by a bullet. That has in no way been confirmed
-
Gross and frankly ghey descriptors aside, I do actually agree with this
-
Of course it’s still tragic. Who is saying otherwise?
-
IF Trump lied about being hit by a bullet, wouldn’t that be a pretty big deal? Personally I doubt he would lie about that, but medical reports could definitely answer the question. I mean of course it’s still a huge deal that somebody tried to kill him and he got hit by shrapnel, if that’s what happened. And if he just said that it’d be no biggie. But lying about it would be significant, hypothetically saying if that happened.

That is a real concern. She would need someone palatable but who would not outshine her. I’m thinking a bit lesser-known governor like beshear or Shapiro?

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

I think I disagree on that last paragraph. Now let me preface that by saying, my most significant concern is that she did not run a good primary campaign in 2020. And that is a concern. But, she’s since been VP for four years and it looks to me like she’s potentially grown and learned a lot. She seems a lot more comfortable now and more willing to just be who she is and not what she thinks others think she should be. She’s already taken a lot of attacks and we know what they are going to be. Frankly they aren’t that compelling to anyone but Trumpers, who are never going to vote for her anyway. Young people like her and women like her. Democrats need those two groups to come out big time to win. The others, they aren’t as tested. We don’t know if they can handle the national stage. We don’t know what the attacks against them will be and how they’ll respond. You take Mark Kelly for example, great candidate on paper. But so was General Wesley Clark and he didn’t go much of anywhere. Other one that is more tested is Buttigieg. But I don’t see how democrats pass Kamala over for him. And I like Buttigieg now more than I did in 2020 but he can still come across as too smooth sometimes. I think he would be a good candidate but there’s a chance he just doesn’t pass the trustworthiness test, especially when the right goes nuts with McKinsey. -

Well one is two years and the other is potentially 50. So that’s a pretty dumb point -

You should check out Franny and Zoey if you haven’t. It’s not quite Catcher in the Rye, but pretty close

2 & 3 are silly (not you for posting them, but as an explanation given by the secret service/local LE). I hope that’s not the real explanation because it’s a terrible one. 4 & 5, yeah these secret service people are basically hardcore Trumpers. We saw that in the January 6 hearings. And that’s okay, he should have people he trusts. But they definitely did let him react in a way that they technically should not have. But at some point it is Trump’s choice, especially while he is a candidate and not the actual president.

CNN — Country music artist Ingrid Andress says she was intoxicated during her much-criticized performance of the national anthem on Monday at the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby and will be seeking treatment. On Tuesday, Andress posted a statement on her verified social media account writing, “I’m not going to bulls**t y’all, I was drunk last night.” “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need,” she wrote. “That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country I love so much for that rendition.”

You go #3. Give it to Kamala and she picks VP. I’d also caution against relying on polls with lesser known candidates. As soon as they’re named there will be an immediate and widespread effort to negatively define them and drive down their approvals. It’s only at that point, once they’ve been sort of “battle tested,” that you can really say how they’ll do. Kamala has been mostly battle tested. Not to say that it won’t intensify big time, because of course it will, but she’s withstood it so far.

And now they boo him at the convention. But fock him, he deserves it. You reap what you sow -
Yes we’ll shank Ukraine and Putin will be happy. Mark it
-
Ah yes, but preventing Russia from taking all of Ukraine we are asking for them to take all of Ukraine. Grade A logic there, as usual

I would think the SC code of conduct would be a no brainer. Applies just as equally to the liberal justices -

I think it’s a good idea. Federal judges were given lifetime appointments because then they’d be insulated from the politics of the day. But they’d still be insulated if, say, it was a 20 year term limit. You still get your twenty years no matter what and it’ll never be more than 20 years no matter what. Now it can’t be too short or they’d potentially still have to worry about their careers after being on the bench. But otherwise, I don’t see the problem. Oh and “lifetime” back in 1787 was, what, 15 years maybe? Average life expectancy of 35 and first you had to get your legal training. Big difference from today where they might be on 3 or 4 decades — hell, possibly 50 years -

Dell is tiny and got hurt last year so I don’t like him at any appreciable price. Collins, seems like he’s due to regress a bit especially with Diggs in town. I ain’t chasing last years production. Diggs, I wish he’d fall a bit and I’d be all over him at a discount price. If he hasn’t lost a step he’s a game changing pick. If he has he’ll still perform at a WR3 level. But he’s being drafted just a little higher than I’d like.
