  1. Can’t say as I’m surprised, but this is bullsh1t:

Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. declined on Wednesday to recuse himself from two cases arising from the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol after reports that flags displayed outside his houses appeared to support the “Stop the Steal” movement.

In letters to Democratic members of Congress who had demanded his recusal, Justice Alito said that the flags, at his home in Virginia and a beach house in New Jersey, were flown by his wife, Martha-Ann.

“My wife is fond of flying flags,” the justice wrote. “I am not. She was solely responsible for having flagpoles put up at our residence and our vacation home and has flown a wide variety of flags over the years.”

IMO, it seems there are ways to make this a better and more accurate process for these people who have to decide these big decisions.

It’s a mess. They don’t remember details, daydream, doze off, can’t hear certain witnesses, miss the magnitude of certain evidence… it’s really all a mess. It does need to be made better but courts have no money and are stuck way in the past

  3. Well, Ukraine has been fighting with one arm tied behind their back. But I am concerned about the provocation here…

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken suggested on Wednesday that the Biden administration could be open to tolerating strikes by the Ukrainian military inside Russia, saying that the United States would “adapt and adjust” its stance based on changing conditions on the battlefield.

Mr. Blinken said that the United States had neither encouraged nor enabled such attacks. But he said that the Ukrainians needed to make their own decisions on how to best defend themselves — a position he has stated before — and that the U.S. government had “adapted and adjusted as necessary” as the war evolves.

When asked by a reporter whether his words meant the United States could support attacks by Ukraine inside Russia, he said, “Adapt and adjust means exactly that.”

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Washington has sent the Ukrainians military aid but has repeatedly asked that they not fire U.S.-made weapons into Russian territory for fear of escalating the war.

Several European leaders have called on President Biden to stop imposing those limits, among them Jens Stoltenberg, the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and Emmanuel Macron, the president of France.

Ehh, the movie was overrated and he was just okay.

I was more talking about the 2/3 of people who didn't think he did anything illegal.

But to the fair outcome, keeping the trial in Manhattan which voted 86% for Biden last time (IIRC), the judge staying on the case even though his daughter has worked for the Biden campaign, are both a little iffy.  I'm not a lawyer, but things like not allowing the Federal Elections Committee chair testify seemed iffy.

The jury selection is just how it works. You weed out the people who say they can’t be impartial or where it’s clear they can’t be impartial regardless of what they say. Changing venue makes no sense where the defendant is universally known — you’ll have the same problem in Buffalo or wherever the fock they wanted, and that venue doesn’t even have any relation to the case.

The rulings don’t seem that crazy to me but that’s what appeals are for.

Whether Trump did anything illegal is for the jury to decide. That’s why we do this process.

As they should, Donald pushed it and Biden made it free. Can't give Biden a pass and then not Donald...that would be.....hypocritical, wouldn't it?

Maybe they should both be given a pass or not? Can't have one get away with it and the other not. The ONE person I'd be most upset with is Fauci. He knew what was going on, funded the Wuhan lab and knew the testing that was going on there as a head/part of the CDC. He lied. Made up stats about 6ft apart and all kinds of other garbage.

Anyways, this isn't about that, it's about the golfer.

Get over the Fauci stuff. That’s MAGA garbage.

But as for the rest, yes they both deserve credit. Trump got that vaccine out in an incredible amount of time. He also staved off a depression with substantial and immediate stimulus.

Biden then continued that on and brought us to a “soft landing” with no huge economic collapse.

It’s impressive and they both should be proud. Sure inflation was a problem for a year or two and it still needs to shave another half a percent, but compared to a Great Depression-style collapse (or even the Great Recession, which dragged on for years and years), this was definitely a preferable outcome.

I thought this was interesting, the last paragraph:

That's more level-headed people than I thought; only 1/3 of the country is TDS OMB lemmings.  Perhaps there is hope for us after all.

Why do you think there will not be a fair outcome?

Isn't this how we decide these things in this country? Trial before a jury of your peers? And we respect the outcome, right?

It was a pretty stupid lie. Why would a neighbor give a shet that after you get into some argument that you then fly your flag upside down?

Blaming it on his wife was a nice touch though 😂

The neighbors in question said they never even saw it

All you need to do is stop calling it the latest Toy Story movie.  That's not what it is and that's why people don't know what you're talking about.

This is 💯 % correct. I do not know, or care, what stupid unrelated bullsh1t HT has been going on about in this thread
