    NFL Wild Card Weekend Games

I needed a score. I think he had too much built up speed flying untouched thru the line to get caught, unless someone had an angle I missed.

Focking Barkley and his slide lost me a +800 parlay.

LA Wildfires, 100K people evacuated and counting

If it hasn't been mentioned, the Rams/Vikes game is officially moved to Phoenix on Monday. Some people are butt hurt because our stadium is "State Farm Stadium," and they are hating on insurance companies. My kids got tickets; my daughter works for a Minny-based company, and my son is just a big sports fan, and they were pretty cheap for playoff tix. My wife and I are flying back from Michigan that day so we passed.

It's hard to believe that we spend 12X of China. Aren't they building one or more warships per day or something crazy like that?

I can't say I've seen a ton, but I really enjoyed Iron Claw (I know, pro wrestling...)

No, it was wonderfully incisive. You'd have fit in well here back in the good old days, where we were a bit more... tough love with each other.

Thanks, will do. I'd also love to meet up with @DonS, who was extremely helpful to me in the early days of my cancer/surgery/treatments. Remarkably, I've never been to the Seattle area (airport connections don't count IMO). Despite being in tech sales, until recently my type of "tech" wasn't overly represented there.

Sure, I know of him. There is an article about him and the movie in the latest ASU Thrive (alumni magazine,) although I haven't had a chance to read it yet: https://news.asu.edu/20241113-sun-devil-community-unstoppable-anthony-robles-amazon-movie-mothers-love Also, the film premier was postponed (supposed to be last night) due to the LA wildfires. https://www.azfamily.com/video/2025/01/09/asu-wrestler-anthony-robles-film-premier-canceled-due-la-wildfires/

I could see that. In our case, Bier set us up with a semi-private tour -- the three of us, and another group of two couples IIRC. Got to learn the history of the place and taste a lot of fun stuff, all in a small group. Another great tasting was at Del Dotto, I think we went to the middle one here including the cave testing: https://www.deldottovineyards.com/visit-us/ We got a shiot ton of wine during the cask tasting in the caves; I loved it, but my wife got too drunk (she didn't realize until too late that she could dump/spit what she didn't want). Because of drinking too much, we bought a bunch of bottles at the end... and a wine bottle airport travel case. Anyway, yeah, we've been sitting on that bottle of Kathryn Hall, and thought about opening it over Christmas, but I came up with the idea of saving it for my 5th year survival of surgery.
  16. If he gives away a ton of money between now and then, it might leave a dent. Should we not comment on it?
  17. Never got into Skoal, although I'm confident I started with it. Once I found Kodiak I did that for a while, but then moved to Grizzly because it was almost as good, cheaper, and didn't have that rumor about putting crushed glass in it to cut your lip and increase the nicotine/carcinogen intake.
  18. I'm inclined to agree with this. A lame-duck POTUS should not be able to do much other than prep for the new person. Both sides do it; this isn't aimed at Biden specifically, definitely the pardons. Although I don't recall Trump doing stuff like this Ukraine thing on his way out. This is however a unique situation, because Biden isn't running anything. Whoever is running the country clearly wants to make a statement with these moves.

I hope to never reach a point of wine snobbery where I am meh about Silver Oak. Although I will say, we really enjoyed Kathryn Hall wines. We've got a bottle from our trip on our top shelf which we plan to open next September 29, which is the 5 year anniversary of my cancer surgery.

My wife and I laugh about this every year. We've lived here 35 years, and every year, no matter the winter weather, it means high chance of fires. Rainy winter? Your first paragraph, more plants that will dry out, more fires! Dry winter? Your last paragraph, even dryer plants, more fires! We've never once heard them say "you know what? There won't be a high chance of fires this season." To your middle paragraph -- 6 years ago we went to Napa for our 25th anniversary; stayed in Healdsburg -- home of the big red wines, and @Bier Meisterset up a semi-private tour of Silver Oak which was phenomenal. Anyway, one morning we took a break from day drinking and hiked an area just north of town. We were amazed at the density of the gorse/brush, and how dry it was. I mean, it looked like if a fire started, it would just zoom through the entire area with nothing to stop it.

Sorry to hear about the losses of your families' houses, @The Real timschochetand @jonmx I'm worried about a few geeks. Somebody mentioned @OldMaid. I think she might live in/near the area of the Palisades Fire. @SUXBNMEor @BunnysBastatrds, do you have a fax number for her? I think @nobodyhas checked in, but if not, I presume he works south of LAX based on his industry, which should be fine. Not sure where he lives though. My guess would be inland a little from Redondo Beach, also safe. Also, doesn't @squistionlive in/near Pasadena? That's the site of the Eaton fire. He claims to have me on ignore, but if any of you FBG Lefties know how to send him a carrier pigeon, it would be good to get a check in. Somebody mentioned @mobb_deep -- I'm not sure where he lives, but he used to work in Irvine which is not in danger. Also I'm changing the title to 100K evacuations.
