Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Because Hurts can squat like 600 pounds. There is a reason every other team doesn't just do it. Although that reminds me, that Saquon is something of a squat monster as well. So I agree with @Maximum Overkill that Saquon could probably be comparably effective doing it. -
No review on that clearly incomplete pass, you can't make this up.

Cards are up a game and have already beat SF once this season. So they are kinda up two at the moment. And their schedule is much easier from here on in. Refs are furiously trying to figure out how to give this one to the Chiefs. Not sure they can do it, but I expect them to try.

I'm watching Red Zone. More interested in Seahawks/Niners, personally.

Color me shocked that cmh's "NFL week 11" thread is a thinly-veiled "all Chiefs all the time" thread.

Agreed with both posts. I don't know if the specific mechanics were planned, since nobody seemed to know what was in it when they voted on it. But I think the plan was that once you throw something out there, no matter how bad, you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, and inevitably we'll get to universal health care to "fix" it. -
***The Official Official Chain Restaurant Draft***
jerryskids replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in The Geek Club
A few comments: - Fuddruckers is my favorite chain burger of all time. Buttery buns, juicy burgers, and you can put as much plastic cheese sauce as you want on the burger, fries, anything you want. Other fixings as well. - I've never eaten at Culvers, but I want to try it. The guy who bought my last house owns 3 franchises, so I've been meaning to do it. Keeping with the cheese theme, I'll try their cheese curds. -
I'm interested in this topic as well. The OP listed a gas heater, but we don't have gas. If you don't either, you likely need a 220V run to the installation point. We did this under our kitchen sink during our remodel a few years ago, but we haven't installed it yet. Our (read: my wife's) complaint is that the kitchen sink is on the opposite end of the house from the standard heater, so it takes 2 minutes for hot water to get there. Honestly, the only reason I haven't installed one is that they generally seem to take up a lot of space under the sink. If anyone has recommendations of heaters that don't take up too much space, I'd appreciate it.

Trump picks Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be his Department of Health and Human Services secretary
jerryskids replied to peenie's topic in The Geek Club
I never complained about the idea behind what she did, but I disagreed with the implementation. This. Also, I don't blame Michelle for doing what she did, since it's not her job to be the nutritional scientific expert. But the food pyramid is NOT healthy. -

Electronic communication devices can cause loss of testicles and even death... ... to terrorists in Lebanon, anyway. -

I've also said here multiple times that I think vaccines are on the Mount Rushmore of greatest inventions (discoveries?) of all time. But that doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement in the vaccine industrial complex. -

Also, @OldMaid sent me a picture of her hand with carpal tunnel stitches and a sign that said "Rusty licks windows clean," so I'm confident that she's telling the truth. OK, I made up the Rusty part, but I'm still confident. -

This is Gutter, right? This post seems like a false dichotomy -- without the NIH, Keytruda would never exist. Keytruda was developed by private industry, not the NIH. The NIH did some research which helped the developers target spectific cancers, tho: I would argue that, in the absence of the NIH, this research would still happen. The immunotherapy industry, as you know, is a big money business. That being said, I've long advocated that the government should invest in pure research. Private industry used to do a lot of it, but investors don't like such research because it isn't tied to a direct stream of revenue. Instead, investors prefer development, which is less speculative. As such, if such pure research is reduced, I will be disappointed. -

Are you on the spectrum? What does this have to do with what I posted? How does it make you feel when people make fun of your son? I didn't like it. -

I wouldn't mind the pics. Carpal tunnel surgery pics, you perv. You gotta admit, that's a... unique reason to not post after you had a flock of crows shoved down your throat. -

I'll follow that up to say that while I don't agree with RFKJ on a lot of things, I respect the hell out of his willingness to put himself out into the public spotlight despite his speech issues. He has given me inspiration to do so in my personal life. -

As a person who speaks with a prosthetic device because of a laryngectomy, I'd like to let you know that I appreciate your honesty in equating a speaking disability with stupidity. I usually only get people speaking loudly and slowly, as if my speaking issue equates to a hearing issue. I understand though that human nature is to respond in kind, so I don't take it personally. You, however, are saying the quiet part out loud, which is that you equate such a disability with cognitive issues. I try to pretend that people like you don't exist, but back in my mind, I know you do. Thanks for your honesty, Rusty. -

I added the bullet at the end as a catch-all for concerns about Trump's appointments so far. If anyone wants to add specific concerns not listed, reply with those: Reasonable concerns: - Tariffs -- If implemented as Trump has stated, would probably cause a mass disruption in our supply chain and prices. - Mass deportation -- Also a mass disruption, economic issues with losing workers, civil rights concerns. - Elon streamlining government -- Could introduce a huge number of (former) government employees into the workforce, many of which may not have (government) skills which easily translate to the civilian workplace. - RFK's influence on health agencies -- Same as above. - End of gender affirming care -- I'm not really sure how this would manifest, for adults anyway. I could see laws against medically transing kids, which I (and most rational people) would view as a good thing, but some like @squistionmight view that as a negative. - End of naturalized citizenship for Dreamers -- Highly unlikely as it is specifically enumerated in the Constitution. I might remove this one. - Environment and climate change efforts -- Trump has vowed to "drill baby drill" which, along with a general disinterest in pursuing green initiatives, makes it likely that we'll invest less in this area. - Abortion -- Long shot that Congress would propose a ban, Trump would sign it, and SCOTUS would approve it - SCOTUS -- Trump could potentially set 2 or 3 more conservative justices on the bench, securing a conservative court for decades to come. - Removal of licenses from media companies -- I don't know much about this, but OK - Some Trump appointees generate reasonable concerns. Gaetz for AG in particular is concerning given, if nothing else, his resignation prior to the release of the investigation into his potential inappropriate conduct with a 17 yr old. RFKJ, while having valid criticisms of the status quo, may go too far as head of HHS. Tom Homan is, to put it lightly, a no-nonsense border czar who has no qualms about separating families, or shipping out entire families, some of whom may be Dreamers. -

Cmon Tim, there is nothing gradual about progressivism. It wants changes, and it wants them now. Frankly, it doesn't matter what the change is -- progressivism wants change for change's sake, to shake up the status quo. By this definition, perhaps we can call the vector that Trump is moving towards a similar movement. Perhaps "regressivism," although that has a negative connotation which I don't think applies here. I think "anti-progressivism" is more applicable, as it aims to undo all of the bad stuff from recent progressive advances. -

I'm paraphrasing Thiel, a hyper-intelligent bazillionaire. So don't blame me, the messenger. Also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Vietnam Not surprised that you think this is an awesome government. You seem to be struggling, Worms. I know you took a long hiatus last time Trump won. I admire your willingness to try to stick it out this time around. Just take it slow, mkay? -

Yeah... my point though was that I didn't like the tone of that TimPool post or the comments within it. The whole "if anyone votes against you i"m going to dox (my words) you" reeks of leftoid fanatacism and i don"t want to be a part of it -
Whoopi Goldberg claims bakery refused her service over leftist views: 'They did not like my politics'

How did they examine them? Were they invited to Whoopi's party? Or did Whoopi post pictures of them, which would lead discerning paparazzi to figure it out?
