I'm not a Gaetz fan. I disagree with your concerns with Gabbard, however.

Is "MAGAloid" part of you having serious discussions, Rustor? My daughter has Type 1 diabetes; she can't join the military because she needs daily medication (insulin) to survive. I've often used her as an example, when people argue that men should compete in women's sports, that "the pursuit of happiness" does not mean you get to pursue every possible avenue of happiness.

So no talks about voter fraud?

Both, but I'm just going by those total vote counts. Those 4 states seem to have a very consistent increase in votes (Georgia seems a little high in 2024 compared to the others, but it's probably the only one of those states which has a net gain of people). And there seems like a consistent shift towards Trump. That being said, if you are trying to get me to say "yay verily there were no shenanigans in 2020 at all," I'm not there yet.

Thanks. No obvious shenanigans in those totals.

    Whussup Bishes?

Wow, bummer man. Sounds like they finally got everything, which is good to hear. Mine was a squamous cell carcinoma (non-small cell) and got into my lymph. They basically told me I was a dead man walking. But... some combination of chemo and immunotherapy (keytruda) seems to have done the trick, knock on wood.

Also, I wouldn't have guessed that @Engorgeous George would be the one to derail this thread, but since it was for hot Jewish actresses, and there are so many more than I had known about, I don't really mind.

I think it's reasonable for the Middle East bad guys to think that they would be better off negotiating some sort of off ramp with the Biden admin, because once Sheriff Don is in town, he's going to start cracking skulls over there. IIRC, your point was that it's hypocritical to oppose government bloat of unelected official, then have one unelected official (Musk) with outsized power to whack entire government organizations? If so, my response would be (1) I don't think Musk will actually have that power, more of a consultive/advising role, and (2) I don't see how you avoid that hypocrisy, since there is no elected position like this. I don't know what you are talking about. I'm culling comments from this thread -- if you have something to add, feel free. But I don't have the time to read every post of every thread looking for nuggets to post here.

Wut? The feds have been quite clear that border control and deporting illegal aliens is a federal issue. Have you been drinking?
  14. My older daughter is a bit distraught, but nothing that will destroy our family or anything. She has drunk a bit of the Tik Tok koolaid, and will figure it out in time. Her older brother, my son, is the most conservative of anyone in our family, and likes to troll his younger sister. I plan to see him before our Thanksgiving get-together and slap him in the haid to communicate that such trolling won't be acceptable. On another note, a few weeks ago my wife and I went out with our neighbors, and on the way home, we learned that the neighbor wife was on billboards for "conservatives against Trump" or something similar. I golfed with the guy today, and at some point asked how his wife was handling it. He said OK, and then said something about being afraid of WW3. I responded that that was one of the things I felt most sure that Trump would handle better than Harris. That ended the political talk.

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

Thanks. Yeah, I heard about this but hadn't seen the details. I heard there was something similar from Nature as well. Two magazines that once were the pinnacle of scientific knowledge, now reduced to worthless woke hack rags.

IMO if you want to be considered serious, stop with the "turnip" stuff. That's Rusty-level, you are better than that. Speaking of Rusty: Please educate us regarding state rights for border control.

I heard a word to describe Trump recently, I think regarding the tariffs: brinkmanship. noun the art or practice of pursuing a dangerous policy to the limits of safety before stopping, especially in politics. Basically it is consistent with what I said to @The Real timschochet -- that this is how Trump negotiates, his "art of the deal." Anyway, I wonder how much of this is brinkmanship. That being said, it is certainly a valid concern. I worked with some high-level people at SpaceX, and Elon had no qualms about whacking people or even whole groups if they, say, missed a schedule. So, he will most likely recommend some drastic cuts. The question is, how much will they actually be implemented.

You are either a bot or a retard. I'm generally on your side, if you have a 5th grade level of intelligence to read my posts. That being said, your "bootlicking" is throwing the gun. There are several things in this video that strike me as government overreach. You don't see it, presumably because you are a bot or a retard, but it's there nonetheless.

Kindly go fock yourself. I said what I was worried about, which is the government injecting itself into speech outlets. You are happy with it, as long as it satisfies your politics. I think it's going fine now, and I present the election results as my Exhibit A.

    I voted straight party Republican

I posted this in another thread a few days ago, thought I'd repost here as it seems relevant: Gen X pushed Trump over the top. What's special about us? We're the parents of most of the school-aged children. We don't want our young men being vilified for doing assertive masculine things, calling it "toxic masculinity." Young men are lost in our society; much has been written about it. (As a side note, this is why young men also voted for Trump. Dood took a bullet in the ear and pumped his fist in defiance. That's badass. That's masculine.) We don't want our teenage girls, confused by the flood of hormones and attention from the boys, to be told that maybe they are boys -- here, take some testosterone, which duh, makes you more assertive and confident. We don't want our elementary school kids to have to declare their pronouns or gender preference. We don't want them learning about gay sex acts or going to drag story hour. If they tell a teacher that they think they are the other sex, we demand to know. If you have kids, you understand this.

Wow, that's a lot to process! I agree with the general premise, but I'm concerned with increased government power over private companies, and the changes to 230.

This is a bit all over the place, but I'll try to respond. Abortion: I had asked for what would be different under a Trump admin vs. Harris. I take from this that your answer is that you are skeptical if Trump would veto a national abortion ban. I'm sorry, but I just don't see this happening. Trump has consistently said he has no interest in such a ban. SCOTUS has said that this is in the purview of the states, so would almost definitely kill such a law. And really, no states are calling for this. I'll add to the list a potential national ban at some date, say 15 weeks, that might restrict the rights of some states. You state that Democrats don't support late-term abortions, but that's categorically wrong. Arizona just passed a constitutional amendment allowing abortion to birth for reasons including "mental health." So, if a woman tells her therapist that she is super stressed about her upcoming baby and doesn't think she can handle it, that therapist can approve an abortion, regardless of time. I also don't understand why a rape or incest victim needs a late term abortion. Regardless, this is typical "legislating at the extremes." Pulling licenses of major broadcasting companies: I don't know much about this, so I'll add it for now. Misinformation: Not serious. The Left targets masculinity, whites, and Trump voters. I'd say that's a larger block.

    Minimum wage

Believe me, I've made this same argument to MDC pretty much every time minimum wage comes up. I don't mind a minimum wage, and if you are going to have one, you should adjust it for cost of living. That being said, I also have argued that minimum wage should not enable you to buy a house and support a family of four. Minimum wage is primarily for students and starter jobs for young people. Maybe also retired people who just want to keep busy.
