Thanks! Alas, no on nVidia. They were a major customer of ours, although not mine directly. I have two friends who went to work there though, one of them back in the 90s. I'm guessing their portfolios are doing well. Fun story about that earlier guy: I joined the industry in 1996 as a field engineer. Right afterward our company had a major SW release, and all of us FAEs went to HQ (your neck of the woods) for training. This guy, I'll call him Sanjay, was the trainer. Young guy, not terribly experienced, kinda quiet and shy. I learned that my fellow AEs were NOT quiet and shy -- they spent a week ripping this guy apart. I was like, whoa, what did I get myself into? And poor Sanjay! He's just the messenger, he didn't write the code, give him a break! Fast forward a few years, Sanjay took a job at nVidia, and worked his way up to being the director responsible for purchasing our solutions. And they bought a LOT. From that point on, Sanjay got his ass licked by so many people from my industry that he never needed toilet paper again. Karma is a biotch.

Thanks. I'm an engineer who spent most of my career in sales in an industry called Electronic Design Automation (EDA), which sells complex HW and SW tools to semiconductor and systems designers. Retired a few years ago due to cancer -- there is a long thread here about that, but the tl;dr is that I was supposed to be dead by now but through the grace of God and immunotherapy, I am quite alive and forecasts are positive.

This was a call for a city/muni court; I don't imagine that there were any significant trials in such a jurisdiction. Also, my experience in being called the the county pool is that they've got a series of potential juries, not a single case for which they would exclusively bring people in. My guess is that they basically don't plan to call any juries in this jurisdiction for the rest of the week. I guess it's possible that they already have prospective jurors, but AZ is pretty good in my experience of calling you done with your commitment if you aren't selected for a jury on your appointed day.

I'm pretty sure that every company I've worked for since graduating (seven, I think) has paid time off for jury duty. These range from Fortune 100 public companies to two private companies with < 100 employees (the last one probably also did the pet bereavement thing; they had a lot of pet benefits). Maybe it's the tech industry, or just generally having an "exempt" sorta professional career?

Apparently, New Republic didn't get the DNC memo that they have moved off of "weird" and are focusing on "HitlerFascist$#@!"
