The Nomination Questioning Of Hegseth
jerryskids replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in The Geek Club
Well, he's no Mayor Pete, whose qualifications were (1) mayor of a failed city, (2) gay, and (3) liked choo choo trains as a kid. -
I know it's useless because you are a sinful retard, but do you have a link, retard? Also, I laugh that you lump Catholicism, the one true Christian faith established by Jesus Christ, with stuff like atheism, while you think that your surfer dood cult is the path to salvation. Amen thanks.

It's hipster to like Empire, but IMO, much like The Two Towers in LOTR, it's more transitional than able to stand on its own. I get it that you like the cliffhangers, which is fine if you can see the final episode right away, but we had to wait 3 years. I'd probably pick New Hope over Jedi. I was a perfect age for the movies -- 10 when New Hope came out, and 16 and horny when Leia wore that gold bikini. https://www.google.com/search?q=princess+leia+gold+costume&sca_esv=3ec098e3b7112be9&sxsrf=ADLYWIJYGGJEeWZ-uzjEMwtdZjjj7JzZTw:1736882930025&source=hp&biw=1368&bih=743&ei=8bqGZ6DrPPzfkPIPoKuW-AI&iflsig=AL9hbdgAAAAAZ4bJAqFEUl5rU-uuwmMYCmMGqgyne2N3&oq=princess+leia+go&gs_lp=EgNpbWciEHByaW5jZXNzIGxlaWEgZ28qAggBMgUQABiABDIFEAAYgAQyBRAAGIAEMgUQABiABDIFEAAYgAQyBRAAGIAEMgUQABiABDIFEAAYgAQyBRAAGIAEMgUQABiABEiaNFAAWPsTcAB4AJABAJgBywGgAdANqgEFOS42LjG4AQHIAQD4AQGKAgtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZ5gCEKACng7CAgQQIxgnwgILEAAYgAQYsQMYgwHCAg4QABiABBixAxiDARiKBcICCBAAGIAEGLEDmAMAkgcGNC4xMS4xoAfkVA&sclient=img&udm=2 Looking up Rogue One, I don't think I've seen it. Based on the recs here, I'll put it on the list.

Living near a desert mountain preserve, we regularly see coyotes, javelina (smelly boars), roadrunners, quail, and hawks. Less frequent are vultures and owls; we had a baby owl perched in a tree last spring. We have bobcats -- my wife has seen them, but I never have. We also have poisonous things like scorpions, rattlesnakes, and black widows (haven't seen black widows at this house). A few seasonal things I enjoy: - Every spring when the quail eggs hatch, I love seeing the dad, mom, and 8-10 teeny tiny quail walking (running for the babies) in a straight line. - We are in the migration path for monarch butterflies, and our yard had milkweed which is like heroin to them, so twice a year for a few months we get a bunch of them in our yard.

I've called out Horseman on multiple occasions for his comments, for personal attacks. One example is when he has attacked Boyo for his cancer. Horseman is a "win at all costs" type of arguer -- he will bring up anything no matter how inappropriate to win an argument. Once you view his comments through this lens, they are easier to understand at least. That being said, rooting for fires is not a personal attack, and seems like more of a shock value comment. Studies have shown that rent control actually increases the overall cost of housing, and decreases the quality of existing units. Among the reasons is that it discourages new builds which will be subject to such artificially low pricing, and disincentivizes investment in maintenance and improvements. As with most liberal ideas, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Then again, you are a capitalist, so you should already realize this. -
Here's the thing, tho. I had never flown Frontier before and it was... great! Convenient departure times both ways for nonstop flights, both times the plane was there plenty early, we boarded early, backed away from the gate early, arrived on time or early. Sure they nickel and dime you ($4 for a coffee?), but the entire roundtrip for BOTH of us including the charge for a carry-on bag was something like $432. Granted, we left on a Saturday, but that is hella cheap. Apparently Phoenix is something of a hub, as they had at least 5 gates dedicated to them, so I'll definitely consider them again for my future flights, particularly to Detroit where my wife's family lives. Oh, and to the later question of upgraded seats: they had 3 or 4 rows in the front where they blocked off the middle seat, sort of a poor-man's first class.

Can't tell. I do see a majority white looking backs of heads, but I can't see them all

Yeah, we are lucky. League started 30+ years ago, same commissioner throughout. All friends or friends of friends for (rare) replacement owners, and we're pretty much (if not completely) all engineers, so not much drama. Occasional drama tho. Commish put down the hammer this year that there will be no exceptions to our rules (which are quite extensive, because we are engineers)

I'm on a Frontier flight from Detroit to Phoenix as I type. 2/3 the passengers are middle eastern or other POC

Happened in my main league a few years back we made a rule that high scorer is guaranteed 6th place. We're also discussing adding victory points (?) Where you get a win if you are top 6 scoring every week, along with H2H.

I needed a score. I think he had too much built up speed flying untouched thru the line to get caught, unless someone had an angle I missed.

Focking Barkley and his slide lost me a +800 parlay.

If it hasn't been mentioned, the Rams/Vikes game is officially moved to Phoenix on Monday. Some people are butt hurt because our stadium is "State Farm Stadium," and they are hating on insurance companies. My kids got tickets; my daughter works for a Minny-based company, and my son is just a big sports fan, and they were pretty cheap for playoff tix. My wife and I are flying back from Michigan that day so we passed. -

It's hard to believe that we spend 12X of China. Aren't they building one or more warships per day or something crazy like that? -

I can't say I've seen a ton, but I really enjoyed Iron Claw (I know, pro wrestling...)

No, it was wonderfully incisive. You'd have fit in well here back in the good old days, where we were a bit more... tough love with each other. -

Thanks, will do. I'd also love to meet up with @DonS, who was extremely helpful to me in the early days of my cancer/surgery/treatments. Remarkably, I've never been to the Seattle area (airport connections don't count IMO). Despite being in tech sales, until recently my type of "tech" wasn't overly represented there. -
Sure, I know of him. There is an article about him and the movie in the latest ASU Thrive (alumni magazine,) although I haven't had a chance to read it yet: https://news.asu.edu/20241113-sun-devil-community-unstoppable-anthony-robles-amazon-movie-mothers-love Also, the film premier was postponed (supposed to be last night) due to the LA wildfires. https://www.azfamily.com/video/2025/01/09/asu-wrestler-anthony-robles-film-premier-canceled-due-la-wildfires/
