Brianna Wu: If I were in charge of the trans movement...
jerryskids replied to jerryskids's topic in The Geek Club
I'll take that as a no. Just figuring out where your convictions end. Also, I've been the biggest opponent of men in women's sports on this bored. You contribute nothing but hate, the least you could do is try to do it accurately. -
Brianna Wu: If I were in charge of the trans movement...

Would you call a 220 pound MMA trans woman a man to his face? -
I'm not lying. I don't smoke weed, not that there is anything wrong with it, as it is legal. Just not my thing. I do occasionally drink though, like Jesus. You, however, are bearing false witness against me. I'm happy having this discussion with you, me, and God, to see who is correct. He'll probably take it easy on you though, since you are more than a little touched.

I dunno, I never thought about it and I would never do it. -
I don't smoke weed, Mongol. Shouldn't you be screaming Revelation quotes on a street corner in Reno?

Brianna Wu: If I were in charge of the trans movement...

A few reasons, none of which you'll agree with. 1. I believe a small subset of trans people have gender dysphoria. Brianna pre-dates the social contagion, when trans people who medically transitioned were thoroughly vetted to have the disease. 2. She also medically and surgically transitioned, so she presents as a she. We can argue whether or not people should do this, or if we should instead work on addressing the mental illness (I've made this latter argument multiple times). But, she did it. 3. As my quote indicated, she's just trying to live out life, not inject herself into women's sports etc. Given all of the above, I'm comfortable calling Brianna she/her. I don't believe she is some sexual predator guy looking to rape girls in the bathroom; she doesn't even have a cack anymore. Someone like Leah Thomas meets none of the criteria I listed, so I'm fine referring to Leah as he/him. HTH -
L.A. ICE raids/protests thread - 16 arrested in ICE raid in the MacArthur Park area.
jerryskids replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
I would like the raids to target bad hombres like MS-13. In such raids, you don't have time to adjudicate the people your encounter since things are happening so quickly, so some non-violent people might get detained. The message to such people is to not hang out where bad hombres are. And on the larger scale, the message to people in our southern neighboring countries is that you are not welcome to come here illegally. -
Former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters faces possible prosecution after supporting banned Palestine Action

In the UK you can be arrested for silently praying within a certain distance of an abortion center. I completely disagree with the UK's arresting people for thoughts or social media posts. If people want to get their intellectual guidance from a guy who made his name writing drug-addled songs, I don't object. -

MAGA congressional candidate says Texas floods are “fake”

I came here to post this. -
Thanks again. I had heard of the apocryphal gospels, which in the context I read them include some you mentioned (Thomas, also Mary Magdalene). But I hadn't known anything about the gnostic movement. Seems kinda like Jesus meets Buddhism. I've always wondered if Jesus studied Buddhism. I like the meditation of Buddhism, as it most closely resembles the Catholic practice of meditative and mantra prayer, which have been shown to have beneficial effects. Anyway, I appreciate your insights.

Any? Like, zero? His father had no influence on his development? Crap, I lost a few more brain cells reading this.
-
What are you blathering about? Do you not think that a father influences the development of his son? Regarding Palestine, I pointed out that the parents of the current generation voted in Hamas. Seriously, are you drunk? Bang your head into a wall a few times? I feel like I get dumber with every post of yours today.

Israel attacks Iran UPDATE: Trump claims a cease fire among all countries

Since you are too lazy or stupid to search yourself, here is what ChatGPT says: AI Overview Since the 9/11 attacks, US support for Israel has seen both reinforcement of existing ties and some evolving dynamics. Reinforcement and Continuity: Recognition of Common Foe: The shared experience of confronting international terrorism solidified some aspects of the relationship, with a recognition of common security concerns. Continued Security Assistance: The US has maintained and increased its security assistance to Israel, with agreements to provide billions in military aid, particularly focusing on maintaining Israel's qualitative military edge (QME). This support has become increasingly crucial during periods of conflict with groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. Support for a Two-State Solution (with conditions): While recognizing Israel's right to defend itself, the US administration, notably under President Bush, also expressed support for a Palestinian state, provided it was not born of terror. Evolving Dynamics and Potential Shifts: Israel's Expertise in Counterterrorism: Israel's extensive experience in counterterrorism and homeland security became a valuable asset for collaboration with the US after 9/11. Changes in Public Opinion: While government support has remained strong, there's been a noticeable shift in American public opinion, particularly among younger generations (millennials), with increased sympathy for Palestinians. Even within some traditional pro-Israel groups, like evangelical Christians, support has reportedly decreased. Debate and Domestic Criticism: The substantial US aid to Israel has sparked debate and domestic criticism, particularly concerning the war in Gaza and its impact on civilians. Strains in the Relationship: Recent events, such as the Israel-Hamas war, have led to increased tensions in the US-Israel relationship, particularly regarding the handling of the conflict and concerns about potential violations of international law. The Biden administration, while reaffirming support for Israel's security, has also voiced concerns about its actions. In essence, while the fundamental strategic alliance and US commitment to Israel's security remain strong, the relationship has evolved since 9/11, encompassing both deeper cooperation on counterterrorism and defense, alongside growing internal debate and some shifts in public and potentially political support for certain aspects of Israeli policy. -

Israel attacks Iran UPDATE: Trump claims a cease fire among all countries

Sometimes to get out of foreign conflicts, you have to use peace through strength. That's what I voted for. In six months Trump has managed to: - Get NATO to agree to a ramp to 5% of GDP. - Get Euro countries to begin transition of primary support of Ukraine to them vs. us. Are these things in line with your goals, jeenius? - Supported then assisted Israel in crippling Iran's military and nuclear capabilities. - Pressuring Qatar to end support of Hamas leadership. - In talks with many countries to join the Abraham Accords, including Saudi, Syria, Lebanon, Oman, and several former SSRs As opposed to Obama who got a Peace Prize for being a hipster black president, Trump's 6 months put him on the Mount Rushmore of foreign policy for US presidents (except for tariffs, but he seems to be backing off those). Peace through strength. -

I learned today that Palestinians are miserable, terrorist focks because Donald Trump took an airplane as a gift (which I disagree with him taking, as a side note). I also learned that without Israel, the Palestinians would have elected a peace-seeking democratic government 20 years ago, in contrast to the history of their entire existence, because we live in unicorn and rainbow world. -

Respectfully sir, an MIT grad understands the posts I've written. I'll never convince you that your alternative reality isn't necessarily unicorns and rainbows, so we can agree to disagree. Me from a position of reality, you from wishcasting. -

I'm just going by where we are today in the real world, which is that we haven't had another 9/11. It's practically impossible to prove a negative, though. You like to live in a fantasy world. Maybe if one of your wasted presidential picks was elected, things would be different. -

You know what's easy is to create your own revisionist history where everything comes up unicorns and rainbows. -
Wife and I watched Maverick over the weekend. It was so perfectly shmalzy and a ripoff of the original movie, so it was a perfect 'Murca! film. Also, oddly predictive of recent events.

Israel attacks Iran UPDATE: Trump claims a cease fire among all countries
jerryskids replied to Frozenbeernuts's topic in The Geek Club
Should be? I guess. Is it? Not really at this point. The Palestinians, for all of their co-existence with Israel and all the various shiot governments they chose during that time, consistently turn down options for viable solutions. "From the river to the sea" is not just for ignorant college kids to chant. But hey, insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, so I guess we should give it another go. -

Moral equivalency! Did you attend Columbia? Also, we support Israel to prevent the Middle East from becoming one ginormous pile of terrorist shiot that, in the absence of Israel to be mad at, would turn their attention to other countries, like they did on 9/11.
