How about you respond to me first: It happens but it's rare. But... There is a Supreme Court case going on as we type which is attempting to make gender transitions for minors a constitutional right.

Doesn't look like a huge slide. This from Barron's. Annual decline attributed to cost controls. https://www.barrons.com/articles/ford-motor-stock-ev-sales-93e49a85?siteid=yhoof2

At birth makes sense. "Gender transitioning before hitting puberty" does from a scientific level, but I'm concerned about setting up systems that encourage kids to make decisions to medically transition before puberty. Lefties here tell me that never happens but... anyway, I could also see a potential legal issue where woke parents sue to allow little Johnnie to become Joanie because he thinks he's a girl and loves golf!

COVID leaked from Wuhan lab, social distancing 'not based on science,' select committee finds
jerryskids replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
No. I think it was reasonable to shut down initially, since we didn't know what we were dealing with. We knew by the fall though that young people were not at significant risk. Kudos to schools that went live then. BTW, by this same argument, masks should have been eliminated in schools, as well as social distancing. Facial communication and play time are critical to development. -

I agree with the spirit of this, especially the middle. Early on we were wise to follow the advice of the medical experts. But over time, they went off the rails, keeping restrictions in place well after we knew that the young and healthy were basically fine. The extended time that schools were shut down was critical; we basically sacrificed the development of all those kids in the interest of some combination of power grab, virtue signaling, and sucking the teet of the teachers unions. To @IGotWorms comment of "get over it," the sad thing is that the next time there is a pandemic (and there will be -- heck, Ima guess China hasn't shut down any of their activities), at least half the country is going to view it as "crying wolf" , and it will be completely justified. These folks lost our trust. Unfortunately, if the next one is the real thing... might be very bad. -
Four years of the DOJ under Joe showed nothing? Consider us shocked! How so?

Got into the catnip already, I see. Have fun!

Well, you've changed in a single post from "civics, b!tches!" to the above pablum. Go get dinner and watch MNF Rusty, it's probably best.

Judge's ruling to allow SJSU trans women's volleyball player to compete in tournament receives backlash
jerryskids replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Your basketball analogy is dumb. Yes, there are a closer number of players, but that's not important. In basketball, the offense controls who has the ball every possession. That's why LeBron and a box of rocks could qualify for the NCAA women's tourney. That's not true in baseball, or volleyball. Regarding the bolded, you clearly don't get my analogy. My point is that you can't legislate solely on outcomes. You legislate on behavior and the potential outcomes of such behavior. I feel bad pulling the yip yip card here given our earlier discussion, but... you might just want to take the L and bow out of this one. -
And yet, Joe pardoned Hunter unconditionally for crimes both convicted and otherwise going back to Jan 2014, three months before Hunter started at Burisma. Seems like your centerpiece is a wilting pot of weeds that the cats ate.
-
Hunter's blanket pardon goes back to January 2014. He started at Burisma in... wait for it... April 2014. I'm sure that is a coincidence.

Judge's ruling to allow SJSU trans women's volleyball player to compete in tournament receives backlash
jerryskids replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
The bolded is faulty logic, particularly in a team sport. Heck, Aaron Judge could play on a bad HS baseball team and they would still lose most of the time (in this case, they would intentionally walk him). More bad logic. This is like saying if an NFL safety launches his helmet into a defenseless receiver's head, but the receiver stays in the game, he shouldn't be penalized. "No harm, no foul" is a bad way to judge, which is why it isn't done. There is also a slippery slope here. If it's OK for this guy to play, when Karch Kiraly Jr. comes along, identifies as a girl, and starts caving in opponents' faces, the trans sports supporters will argue it's no different, she's just a little better is all. This leaves us to legislate on a case by case basis based on some subjective, undefinable definition of when it becomes dangerous or non-competitive, which is unmanageable. And, if somehow we were to try that, we would be saying to the male athlete that they suck so bad that they can play. Not exactly a confidence builder, as I hear is a reason to let trans women compete. -

No one does, not a single female volleyball player in all of the NCAA? -
No, Joe gave his son a "full and unconditional pardon" for anything he did from 2014 until now. My initial reaction to the pardon was, meh, a dad pardoning his son, OK. But this "full and unconditional" thing is a bit unsettling. Like, anything he did?

I have asked @TimHaucknumerous times if he is on the spectrum, for the same reason you did. I'd be very surprised if he isn't. I like Tim. We can be kinda... mean at this place. I'd rather know if he is, in which case I might not keep calling him a yip yip dog. -

What was the outside pressure? And why are you defending this? -
Sigh... Probably not. My wife is a big sports fan but she is neck deep in a work project, and not feeling it, tonight anyway. Also that is her birthday, so she wants to do a brunch at our house with our kids (all of our kids, and myself, are ASU alums). But... tomorrow we might re-address.

Trump Forces Ceasefire In The Middle East 🏆 🎉 🚨
jerryskids replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Trump would be for Israel doing what it needs to do to definitively end this. That might mean more war in the short term to prevent much more war in the long term. Unless you are dumb enough to believe that if Israel just quits now, that solves everything. -

I appreciate that you don't support biological men in women's sports; that is the no-brainer of this situation. I've also said that I see both sides of the bathroom discussion, although IMO other women's spaces like locker rooms, spas, prisons, are a hard no. That being said, trans is a mental disease. At its core, it's no different than thinking you are an animal, or a reincarnation of Julius Caesar (I actually knew a VP of engineering who believed this). If you believe you are something you aren't, that's a mental disease. It doesn't mean you are a bad person (for example, pedophilia is a mental disease, where you believe you should have sex with children), but it's not normal. And before you say "it's normal to them!" so is the animal, Julius Caesar, pedophilia, etc. -
Trump Forces Ceasefire In The Middle East 🏆 🎉 🚨
jerryskids replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Sorry if this has been discussed, but it was a temporary cease-fire which expires 4 days after Trump takes over. Coincidence? I would think not. The permanent cease-fire, if it happens, will be under a Trump regime which will be much more willing to let Israel finish the job. -

They didn't give any reasons. But sure, they could have no concerns for the safety of their players, and instead done it for the integrity of the game. -

Kudos to Boise State for putting the safety of their athletes ahead of woke crap. Shame on San Jose State for prioritizing virtue signaling over both safety and the competitive integrity of women's sports. It happens but it's rare. -
Why did Dems flip so hard on the border and illegals?
jerryskids replied to Frozenbeernuts's topic in The Geek Club
No, he's trying to be cute with a semantic game about the existence of a "concierge desk." And by cute I mean dumb. Nobody said concierge desk, but concierge service Seems pretty accurate.
