I agree with your premise that the concept of DEI has value, and that removing names from interview screens is a good, objective step in that direction. I disagree with the exponential additions of DEI-related positions to support graduates with DEI-related jobs. I think the NFL has a good idea to require interviews, but that is a very self-contained fish bowl. And it doesn't translate to the general application to all American businesses. We need to figure out a system to optimize the advancement of superior minority people into positions, without putting clearly insufficient people into those positions.

Also FWIW, I've heard that studies have shown that actions like blocking highways, defacing art, etc. have the opposite effect as intended -- they overwhelmingly turn people against the cause in question. So in a way, this is doing them a favor.

What if your wife is dying, stuck in an ambulance in such a blockade? Such actions create an unacceptable increase in danger. This is different than having to walk around a bunch of ignorant, frothing at the mouth liberal arts students on a college campus.

During one of the many times that BeachGuy, in his insecurity, tried to convince me that his making Excel spreadsheets made him smarter and more valuable than me, he commented that he hoped I never designed anything, implying such design would suck. I told him, as a matter of fact, I have five patents. Coming to the harsh reality that I am smarter than him has completely deflated him. He sounds like even more of a whiny little kid if that is possible, saying I "brag about" how many patents I have, inflating it to 50, etc. I've come to realize that that means he is throwing the gun early. He can't argue with me on merits, so he just leaps to it. Sometimes I ignore him, sometimes I just say "gun thrown," sometimes I make the mistake of trying to engage with him like an adult, like in this thread. He jumped into a discussion about aborting 9 month old fetuses with a bad take, I pointed it out, and instead of just saying "my bad" or just moving on, here we are.
