A young surgeon revealed how his hospital was secretly transitioning gender-distressed children. He is now facing federal charges.

And as a bonus: So it "mentions" it twice, once where it tells you that they don't yet know the precise nature of the charges, so it's hard to know exactly what they are. That being said, I'll grant you that the statement you pasted, despite not knowing the precise charges, conveys the opinion that the motivation is that they didn't like his position in this culture war. I guess time will tell. But I can see some powerful people on both sides of this issue lining up to support each. On a slightly different note, I see no mention of any investigation or charges against the doctors who are falsifying medical records. Doesn't mean it isn't happening, I just find the lack of mention interesting. -

Honest question, because you do this often. Why do you not even read something and then respond to it? It's even in the part I bolded. -
Everyone who graduates college gets a green card
jerryskids replied to GutterBoy's topic in The Geek Club
Yes, I think. I'm just saying you don't start with a green card. What I'd like to see is starting with certain focus areas. Say, medical professionals (doctors/nurses/PAs/radiation techs/etc.) or something else of which we have a shortage. Canada's immigration policy is very much based on this -- they only let in such people. -

Agreed, although I would want some period of work/paying taxes under a work visa before getting a green card. While it's true that our green card process needs a lot of work, the original proposal strikes me like a typical liberal one where they didn't think about the unintended consequences. -
Louisiana requires Ten Commandments displayed in every public classroom
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Wrong. The Founding Fathers realized that a strong underpinning of religious morality was necessary for the libertarian experiment that was the US of A to succeed. And the Constitution was designed to keep the federal government out of the states' religious business. Many states had an official religion well into the 1800s. https://firstamendment.mtsu.edu/article/established-churches-in-early-america/ https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel05.html I'm not espousing that we go back to official state religions, but more so pointing out that you are incorrect on the role of Judeo-Christian principles on the founding of our government. -

Waste is a solvable problem. Worst case, just launch it out into space. If you believe it is an existential crisis and all.

What's your argument, comrade? -
This guy came up to me and said, 'You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit.' As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.

We've discussed this before: nuclear fusion investment is great but it's decades away if ever, so it is more "research" than "development" for a while. We should definitely do it. But I disagree with Tim's take that we should leverage every possible resource to do it, because frankly, current fission technology is pretty darn good. We just need to build some modern reactors -- all of the ones in use in the US are at least 2 generations of technology behind, IIRC.

I wanna hang a map of the world in my house. Then I'm gonna put pins into all the locations that I've traveled to. But first, I'm gonna have to travel to the top two corners of the map so it won't fall down.

The climate alarmists kept getting pie in their face because every time they predicted a certain type of weather, the opposite happened. Then they finally hit on the perfect solution: "extreme" weather. Whatever it is, it's climate change. Hot, cold, wet, dry, windy, calm... all climate change.

Pudge was on the juice tho. Allegedly...

They don't mean it, Lefties told me so. What they really want is a peaceful two-state non-theocratic solution.

Louisiana requires Ten Commandments displayed in every public classroom

The antichrist would be actively crusading against Christ. I am merely on my spiritual journey, and have often spoken against people who think they are smart because they "know" there is no God. That makes me honest, not a liar, and not the antichrist. Also, I'm good at this bored. I've contributed a lot to it, whereas you are borderline useless. Nobody finds any value from you other than entertainment. You will convert nobody because you are completely un-Christian. May God have mercy on your soul. -

I've never called Jesus a liar, idiot. And I don't support abortion, I support reasonable small steps to lead to a minimization of abortion. You, on the other hand, support laws from the 1860's which would categorically make all abortion illegal, which would lead to a ballot win in AZ to put into our constitution the right to kill a baby up until birth. Basically, you are an imbecile who doesn't realize the stupidity of your position. Regarding "denying" Jesus Christ, I am on a journey. I cannot make myself believe. I do know that if I attended your surfer cult, I'd leap out of my seat and bolt for the exit. But behaviors can influence attitudes, so I regularly attend mass and pursue my spiritual journey. You think you are superior because you have unwavering confidence, good for you, but I don't think Jesus would appreciate your holier-than-thou attitude. Instead, he would want you to encourage people like me on our spiritual journey. Carry on. -
That's a pretty dang good list. I might quibble with a few choices, and will if I get around to posting it. But I like it.

My mouth is fine, fool. And I've never called Jesus a lair or a liar. You just suck at Bible quotes. HTH -
Long ago I read an interesting take on rating women on a 1-5 scale. The author argued that a 4 was classically pretty; Swift would fall into this category. There isn't really anything wrong with her. But her looks lack an "it." A 5, on the other hand, is volatile - a 5 could be a 1 to some people. Uma Thurman is a good example - some people find her remarkably hot; others (I'm in this group) not so much. Anya Taylor-Joy is maybe a newer example (Queen's Gambit, Peaky Blinders).
