Louisiana requires Ten Commandments displayed in every public classroom
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Failed at the first one: And... second one: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john+5%3A21&version=NIV Go back and read your bible, weepers. Oh, and if you had ever read anything I say about abortion, you would know I oppose it. Idiot. -
I find it hard to not see trans as mental illness...

Set at 2:19 for an interesting discussion with Dennis Prager regarding Trans back in 2019. -

Uh, the Ten Commandments are Old Testament. -
High of 104 expected in Phoenix today. Kinda brisk for June. Tomorrow is 112, that'll suck.

It's not all about data! But yeah, Babe Ruth is #1. WAR is actually a pretty good way to compare people from different generations. Still like me some Rickey. I actually lived in the same neighborhood as him until we downsized a few years ago. Saw him on his bike a few times. One of the benefits of living in a city with a bunch of retired athletes.

All time stolen bases, by a mile All time runs All time leadoff HRs All time unintentional walks (Bonds has total walks). so he got on a lot to wreak havoc

But Righties have all of the conspiracy theories, amirite?

I have argued here before that Henderson is the greatest baseball player of all time. My reasoning is that nobody has been so much better than anyone at the game at his position (leadoff hitter, base stealer). When he got on base, he struck terror into the opposing pitcher and the entire defense.
-
Agreed. I never saw him play, but he along with Hank Aaron were the first players to truly transcend the color barrier and just flat out be HOF worthy regardless of race.

This is the dumbest post I've seen here in some time, and that's saying something...

Fair enough. My original point was that Trump is not a threat to democracy this time around. I stand by that.
-
Well, Trump can't run a third time, so this is all moot. Hope this assuages your fears of a Constitutional crisis.
-
So speculate. And what is a "Constitutional crisis?" That sounds like a catch phrase from Vox or MSNBC. Here's how I think it plays out. It gets to the front of the line for SCOTUS, who says fock that, certify it. IIRC, SCOTUS chose not to hear the PA challenge, which from a legal perspective was a clear violation of their state constitution. IMO because they didn't want to have to rule on that from an actual constitutional perspective, which would have caused mayhem.

Bye bye bye

So, how would you see things playing out if Pence had given in? Trump takes over the country in a "soft coup"?

And ... here we go again with a Colo. Baker not accomodating all patrons

So, to the case at hand, it seems we have dueling ass holes. On one side, we have a plaintiff who sought this guy out to create this lawsuit. If she wanted a blue and pink cake, she could have asked for that without pointing out the celebration of gender transition. On the other side, we have the defendant, who won't make a blue and pink cake. There does not seem to be any complex art to such a cake. As opposed to @weepawsand his cult, I like the Catholic position on trans: https://www.catholic.com/qa/the-churchs-position-on-transgenderism-0 "Love the sinner, hate the sin" is a pretty good model for such situations. This seems like "uncharitable behavior" on the part of the behavior, and as such I disapprove of the baker's position. The question, of course, is not what I think, but should HE be able to do it. That's a little thornier. It seems the plaintiff IMO planned out a good trap for this guy. At the end of the day, and I know conservatives here won't like what I'm about to say: I think time will show the baker to be on the wrong side of history here. I say this because there are other positions, like medical (hormonal and surgical) transitioning, where I am extremely confident that my opposition will be on the right side of history. -

Well... maybe, maybe not. Often in business, it can be more profitable to focus on a specific demographic. I spent much of my career convincing various marketing groups that our widget could not be all things to all companies, and instead we should focus on target markets and serve them well. Crappy analogy, as our widget was nothing like a cake, but my point is that he will lose some business from LGBTQ folks, but gain some from opponents and those who respect his conviction. Which is better in the cake business, I cannot say. -
Personally, I don't think I've had any issues or run-ins with Dozer prior to this thread. I generally have no problem with his update links throughout various proceedings. However, I have observed that he does seem a bit... passionate when he talks about Trump. I can see the sparks flying from his keyboard as he bangs out the words about the OMB. Regarding Trump, I understand the concerns, I just think they are mostly silly. The military is not going to follow Trump in a coup. And SCOTUS, if anything, has shown with the recent bump stock decision that they will rein in the executive branch from overreach. They did the same with their own branch in Dobbs. In fact an epigraph for this bench might be "hey Congress, do your $#@! job!" But I digress. There are checks and balances all over the place to prevent Trump from becoming a dictator. One thing that might concern me, were I on the Left, is a sweep of Congress which gives filibuster-proof control. I have no idea if this is possible, but were it to happen, and with the House at least being more Trump friendly than during his last term, they could possibly pass a lot of things that you might not like. I think it's also likely that Trump's advisors will be more... like-minded to him than the last go-around? Probably not good, but not going to end the republic as we know it.

Not watching that video. That video conveniently pans to a distant shot when Biden freezes and Obama jump starts him, around the 32 second mark. Your own X thread shows as much, if you had bothered to read it. But you, Olga, and the other leftist sycophants see what you want to see. And the "impartial" fact checks like the AP. And I didn't admit I didn't know "much," I admitted that I didn't know that using derogatory names can be a sign of cognitive decline. I also provided a link with the thousand or so such names Trump has used for people since at least 2015. Nevertheless I said I'd keep my eyes open for signs of it worsening with Trump. Seems one of us is trying to be objective.

Still? No, he'd have fallen over by now. You are either a troll or have the perception of an autistic child, like squistion. I'll error on the latter to not be mean. Have a good night, Gutter.
-
Nothing about that link is a fact check. I would say they should be embarrassed by characterized it as such, but I'm confident they aren't.

So you don't think Biden needed to be led off stage by Obama?
