    Biden's cognitive decline.

You called the video of Obama leading Biden off the stage "fake stuff like this." You know this, right?

    Biden's cognitive decline.

That's not the topic. The topic is Obama leading Biden off stage.

    Bill Maher nails it AGAIN!

It's mostly around things you would agree with. Maher being Maher, he has some obligatory anti-Trump stuff in there, to keep his day job and his core audience. But 95% of it is good stuff.

Have you answered: when did you last see a presidential debate without an audience?

    Biden's cognitive decline.

Unfortunately, comments like this are why I can't take you seriously in discussions about Biden. I'm incredulous that anyone who has had any interaction with people could not see the clear, significant decline. You, I expect it from. This is where you say "thank you" I think.

Holy carp that should be required viewing for every family with kids!

He's an interesting dude... seems like a perfectly normal guy talking about offroading in the southwest, or his affinity for guns, but with anything Trump I want to ask him to point out where on the doll Trump touched him.

Agreed. I called him an idiot above for agreeing to them.

Tell me what your first language is, so I can enter "I was talking about live crowds at presidential debates" into Google Translate and you have a passing chance of understanding it.

BeachGuy is a corporate finance exec who is super creative, like all corporate finance folks, and also admitted he sucks at math. So he's got that going for him.

    ***EdEx US Open 2024***

Heads up, since I've got the first pick at the British: Reminder that I'm heading over there to attend it with my son$#@! We head out the Friday before (get in Saturday), spend a few days in Edinburgh, then head across to Troon. We've got tix for Wed-Fri. I'm not 100% sure I'm taking Scheffler at this point, but probably. Either way I'll try to remember to get my pick in the day before the draft, and make sure Ed or somebody has my cell for when my picks come up; I'll be 5 (?) hours ahead of the east coast. Being at the turn will help.

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

That's a very interesting poll, thanks. A few things that caught my eye: I wonder how many people across the country share this guy's disdain for the lawfare of the NY trial, and will change their vote accordingly? From an issue standpoint, abortion is Trump's greatest risk. If he could just stop bragging about his judges and have a not-extreme position on it, he can possibly diffuse it a little. Which brings us to: Ouch. I swear, if Trump just stood silent at the debates holding a placard saying "Biden's grade = F-" for 90 minutes, he'd win going away. But we all know Trump can't do that.

Yep, nothing to do with my points, and somehow, inexplicably, keeps talking about Trump interrupting. Stellar discussion as always from you, pseud.

    June 27 Presidential debate

Well, see, I said political debates. Educate me the last time you watched a presidential debate that was held in a bunker? I thought so. Also in response to my specifically saying the crowd and not the mics, your TDS can't help but go off on Trump$#@! And look at this tard. Here I am trying to have a civil conversation with a guy at TDS DEFCON -3. Answer my question above about presidential debates. I thought so. My point remains that Trump feeds off a crowd, whereas Biden may slip into a catatonic state if something distracts him, so the format clearly favors Biden. But I'm not sure English is the first language for you, so we'll see how you respond.

    June 27 Presidential debate

I was speaking primarily about the lack of bright lights, big stage, a crowd with whom to interact, gauge responses, etc. Those are allowed in political debates, are they not, Dozer? Or is it not important to gauge a presidential candidate's ability to interact with people?

No, not in this case. I see little value in listening to Biden and Trump lie about what they've accomplished and what they plan to do (they each had 4 years; why didn't they do "it" already?). To me the value is in assessing Biden's mental acuity in a challenging environment.
  18. jerryskids

    June 27 Presidential debate

My point is that the sterile, quiet environment helps Biden way more than Trump.

A laugh track would be more like the current format -- sterile and controlled. A live audience during a sitcom can be great, and allows the actors to feed off of it.

There will definitely be some repeating of memorized material. As for reading, let's just say that I'll be surprised if Biden doesn't find a way to introduce notes into the format.

    June 27 Presidential debate

Those are the main ones I know of. The lack of a crowd is IMO the biggest advantage for Biden -- he was never particularly good at reading a crowd, reacting to it, motivating it, even before his dementia. He would have been utterly lost if the crowd was in any way responsive. Considering the mic shut off as a benefit to Donald is a pretty partisan take. Objectively, Biden has a tenuous hold on coherence at best, and 100% Trump would have rattled him. No crowd, no noise, no bright lights, just a sterile serene environment for Biden to read his prepared statements. You may or may not have noticed, but reading prepared statements is not where Trump shines.

    June 27 Presidential debate

This is a common Tim post -- include a list where one of the items is farcical, but he hopes to pass it through on association with the other items. There is absolutely zero about this format which will test mental alertness. "Mr. President, read us your prepared statement on the border." "Mr. President, read us your prepared statement on the economy."

Same. Also, it's not conducive for live things like humans, since it probably goes 90273148932 G's or something as it winds up. But maybe we can send up people via conventional methods and fling up all of the equipment to start an outpost/colony.

I was one of those people. I didn't anticipate them changing it from a debate to a reading of policy positions in an empty room. But hey, Trump the idiot accepted the terms. He should have pushed back.
