They are pushing Trump on a plan? Harris has prided herself on no plan. Joy! -

No, I'm referring to the 2020 debate, where she specifically said that Biden supports fracking. She said nothing about herself supporting fracking. She doesn't, she never has. -

Yeah, she said she was clear in the 2020 debates about supporting fracking. That's an abject lie. She said in that debate that Joe Biden was clear about supporting fracking. I'm a rube on the internet and I know that; they can't fact check her on this? -

We can argue how much the moderators are helping her, but she hasn't imploded. The bar is low for her performance -- basically, be better than Dementia Joe. -

She's winning. Totally dominating the discussion. She has been on the offensive, Trump on the defensive. If he doesn't move to the offensive soon, it's not good for him. -

She looks kinda dopey while Trump is talking. She needs to learn to be stoic. -

She sounds good on this because she actually believes it. She stammers on the economy because she is clueless. The border and foreign affairs should be interesting. -

That's a generous summary of her "plan" -
"full proof" means straight from the cask. Also called "cask strength." Most whiskeys I would guess end up about 55-65% alcohol (110-130 proof) in the cask. Most of those are then watered down to the 40-45% alcohol you typically see in bottles. But some are not. I tend to prefer my sipping whiskeys cask strength, as I can dilute them a little, or have them at their full expression, depending on my mood.

Odd timing for this thread and the whiskeys mentioned, because I literally just got an email from TotalWine to sign up for a lottery for rare whiskeys. They had 3 Wellers available -- Full Proof, 12 yr, and C.Y.P.B. I picked those as my first 3 choices; prices were in the $50-$65 range. My next two choices were Blanton's Straight from the Cask and Gold, both in the $150 region. I never spend that much, but I suspect it's much cheaper than market price, so we'll see. $700 is whack! I didn't win the last lottery so...

That sounds fun! I've got tickets to the British Open next year in Northern Ireland, really close to the Bushmill's Distillery. Not sure if I'm going yet, but if I do, I expect to tour some places. Redbreast is probably my favorite Irish whiskey. A Missouri Oak edition sounds like a must-try for a person from the state like yourself.

I've never had Weller either. It has a higher wheat content, which makes it mellower than regular bourbons. Maker's Mark is perhaps the most well known "wheated" bourbon. We've got a boutique liquor store here called Trevor's which has its own bar/restaurant. They carry a lot of good whiskeys, including the line of Wellers, in the bar. Unfortunately I usually go during the day for lunch and not drinking (it's by the Mayo I usually go to). If I ever find myself there later in the day, I may ask for a taste of the Wellers.

I posted this 3+ years ago as I was going through chemo. I'd like to tell my old self: self, you made it longer than anyone thought, and you have since tried Angel's Envy, and you very much like it. Angel's Envy is finished in port casks (I think) so it adds a little extra sweetness to the whiskey.

Evan Williams Bottled in Bond Bourbon is my bourbon for mixed drinks like old fashioneds and manhattans. The reason is that there is very little difference among "bottled in bond" whiskeys, and the regulations ensure that they are of good quality: If I'm going to mix it with simple syrup or sweet vermouth, why pay more for a name?

Beyonce snubbed for her god-awful country album
jerryskids replied to kilroy69's topic in The Geek Club
Darius Rucker. Also, I kinda like Beyonce's version of Jolene. I like when artists take risks on remakes. She changed the lyrics from "pleading" to "telling" Jolene not to take him, giving the singer more confidence/dominance than the original. Many will argue that that is not true to the song, and I don't disagree, but I appreciate the artistic interpretation. As a comparison, the recent remake of Fast Cars is dog shiot. It's the same exact song, sang by a dood with a country twang. Yay. -
Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
No it isn't. Blaming Trump for the economic impact of Covid, when it crippled the entire world economy, is silly. Crediting Biden for the inevitable rebound/growth after Covid is silly. HTH -

Very centrist of you. Trump blasted vaccines through approval in record time; I would think a pseud centrist like yourself would appreciate that., as well as the fact that most if not all of the "growth" under Biden/Harris has been recovering from the once-in-a-century pandemic. Unless you are blaming Trump for the pandemic, which since Fauci was in his government and likely helped fund Covid development in China, is a fair accusation. -
You're in Cali? What part? I'd have sworn you were in rural PA or something. Regardless, you are in a Tuesday night bowling league, you are probably the only person in the alley NOT voting for Trump.

My point was that we know what a Trump admin will be like, we lived through it, and it was pretty good. But to your comments: If he didn't fix something that wasn't broken, that's a good thing. Most economists who took a macroeconomic class know that corporate tax cuts spur growth. And we saw growth. But... ...I've always hated the following position by the Left: "sure, the poor did better, but the rich did MORE better, so that's bad! Inequality!" Really? Everyone benefits, but the people who actually made shiot happen benefitted more, and this is a bad thing? If you don't see why this is NOT a bad thing, I don't know that I can explain it. My "except" was on abortion, is that your point? If so, Trump's position is that it is a state issue, and not for the feds to create a national law. That alone is enough to not deserve a second term? -

Nothing I said is incorrect: polling indicates the country agrees with me. Sorry to sadden you. I voted for DeSantis and against every MAGA candidate in the past two AZ primaries. You and I see threats to democracy in different places. You see it in Trump's bloviations, despite a 4 year track record of mostly good performance. I see it in the erosion of our culture, through the increasing progressive destruction of the family. I see it in moral relativism that allows Hamas to be not totally evil. I see it in a horde of people coming through open borders. I see it in talks of removing the filibuster to increase the number of SCOTUS judges and steamroll through any hairbrained progressive idea (Medicare for all, tax money to trans illegal aliens, forced gun confiscation to name a few). I see it through a mainstream media, once our Fourth Estate, which has become a lap dog to the Democratic party. You may recall in the past that the MSM partiality against Trump and for anything Left was always a soapbox of mine. I think what pushed me over the edge for Trump, though, was the lawfare we've seen in the past year, particularly the Merchan case. I can't help it that you don't see a problem with MacGyvering together a "felony" for an 8 yr old payoff to a pron star against the Republican candidate for POTUS. I can, however, laugh at your concern that Trump is going to throw opponents in jail, when, and read this really slowly: your party has been trying to do exactly that to Trump for years.
