My "favorite" graph, like you said, is more evidence of the social contagion. But I looked it up and yes, there is evidence that children of gay parents tend more to be gay. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20642872/ FWIW, I used to flat-out oppose gay adoption (my primary reason for opposing gay marriage back in the day), but I've softened my stance. All things being equal, I believe (and I think studies have shown) that the best situation for a child is a mother and a father. But, all things are not equal, and I think a loving, financially stable gay couple like Dave Rubin and his husband are better parents than a meth addict hetero couple.

Not sure where you created that chain; here is the real one.

What Is The Best Newer Movie You Watched ?

I believe you've stated this one before. I'd like to see it, but after having recently seen the Lobster with Colin Farrell which was... really weird, in a "looks like a HS theater group filmed it" kinda way, I dunno...

Bill Maher: American Kids are Way Too Confident

Fair. I think it's mostly GenZ, with some spill into Millenials. They aren't hard and fast delineations. Also I'm Gen X, not far from Boomer. My kids are a Millenial/Z boy (28 yrs old) and two Gen Z girls. The boy is much more conservative than the girls, which seems consistent with the stereotypes. Our family is like Family Ties, if the parents were conservatives. There is truth in this. My generation was the first of the "latchkey" kids, and I think a lot of those people grew up feeling like they weren't loved, so they swung the pendulum too far the other way into helicopter parenting.
  7. You don't "prepare" to assassinate, you either assassinate or don't. They were prepared to use deadly force. But yes, I think Trump is being dangerously childish with this. I'm mostly having fun with Squistion because he is such a semantic wonk in other cases, including this dictator stuff ("he said it%$#@"). But I think this kinda talk from Trump can lead to... unintended consequences down the road.
  8. No, being authorized to shoot is different than actively trying to assassinate. I'm surprised I need to explain this to king of semantics here. Have you conceded that you are full of shiot on the "dictator" statement?

Well, yeah, but that's a lot different than hate. You seem to be really reaching for some kind of win here.
  10. The allegation Trump actually made, not your Lefty X guy.

I have no idea how you would draw that conclusion.
  12. No, kylegriffin1 does. The Garland quote doesn't say it.

No but I think the inverse is true.

Have You Ever Been Deep Throated

The only benefit of my breathing out of a hole in my throat is that, for certain occasions, I need no air through my mouth or nose.

I don't think so, exactly. I THINK he thinks it's better. I KNOW he thinks it is a great life choice. Somebody here, maybe you, didn't mind his statement "but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world." If this statement is fine, then he is talking to such women with the ensuing story about his wife, telling them that it is not only OK to be excited about those things, it is great. Anyway, I feel like we've reached that point where I'm increasingly unclear what small differences you are arguing about.
  17. You do realize that a good portion of your party thinks Trump has weekly status meetings with Satan, right? Also believes stuff like "I want to be a dictator." I just had that pathetic discussion on this board this morning.

    Most Obnoxious Sports Fan Bases

I was going to post this. CMH by himself out-obnoxiouses the entire fanbase of any other team. Also, living in Phoenix, it's a tie between Laker Fan and Dodger Fan. A bunch of them move here because their city sucks and ours doesn't. More recently, Dodger fan. Which made upsetting them in the playoffs last year all the sweeter. I didn't want to post about the Dodgers yesterday, because the DBacks were playing there and I didn't want to jinx them. It worked; DBacks whooped them 6-0 to win the series. The Dodgers will still win the division, since they've spent a bazillion dollars on a murderer's row roster, so I'll take small victories.

He advocated for women being homemakers. There is an implicit "all" when you advocate for something. If I say, "I love my Roborock vacuum, it's great!" I'm implicitly saying that I think everyone should get one. I'm not expected to say, "or, if you want to buy another one, that's great too!" I think you are reading too much into your inference of this "all" thing.

Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession

Agreed. I don't expect most people to even know what a recession is. It's a catch-all for "things are worse." The unemployment misunderstanding is worse. Especially since we recently came out of Covid when you KNOW employment was worse.
  21. Bless your heart. Anyone who listens to his entire statement and thinks he wants to be a dictator for his entire term... be careful if you enter the real world, Squissy. I definitely don't think the second thing approaches anywhere near shaming. For "diabolical lies," is it strength of the phrase you find shaming? If he had said "told untruths" or even "misled," would you find that less shaming? To me, shaming is a negative message of "if you don't stay home with your kids, you suck." Instead, as I said before, Butker emphasized the positives of his and his wife's experiences.

The Catholic Church is NOT playing both sides of the fence on abortion. The Church is quite consistent (and active) in its opposition to abortion. I think he was referring to Biden there.

Yikes! My best friend from my main work industry is an Aggie. His dad said, "you can go to school wherever you want. I'll pay for A&M." Here in AZ there are basically two large schools, ASU (Phoenix, Tempe technically) and U of A (Tucson). There is always trash talk whenever the teams play, but all my kids went to ASU, as did I for my business degree, so we have no local family issues.
