During one of the many times that BeachGuy, in his insecurity, tried to convince me that his making Excel spreadsheets made him smarter and more valuable than me, he commented that he hoped I never designed anything, implying such design would suck. I told him, as a matter of fact, I have five patents. Coming to the harsh reality that I am smarter than him has completely deflated him. He sounds like even more of a whiny little kid if that is possible, saying I "brag about" how many patents I have, inflating it to 50, etc. I've come to realize that that means he is throwing the gun early. He can't argue with me on merits, so he just leaps to it. Sometimes I ignore him, sometimes I just say "gun thrown," sometimes I make the mistake of trying to engage with him like an adult, like in this thread. He jumped into a discussion about aborting 9 month old fetuses with a bad take, I pointed it out, and instead of just saying "my bad" or just moving on, here we are.

Good thread, I like most of the bands listed. Top 5 at the time: Bush, Soundgarden, STP, Candlebox, Pearl Jam (10 mostly) Since then, I probably play more from that era: Foo, Alice, Rage Against the Machine

I get that. I'm typically more of a music guy than a lyrics guy, and the music of 10 just blew me away. I wasn't in on the early grunge scene (in 1991 I was 24, getting paid and getting laid and enjoying life, nothing to get angsty about. ) but 10 songs kept coming up in my gym and I was like "dang, this stuff rocks$#@!" Subsequent albums didn't do much for me, just a song here or there.

I hear you, and I've thought recently about the olympics and the different events. Biological men in women swimming... stupid. Biological men in women gymnastics... get out of here, they would get their asses kicked, competing in the womens events. I would rather each individual sport moderating participation as appropriate. The problem IMO is... back to my TikTok/social pariah comments. Until and unless we find a way to have reasonable discussions without the "your hate the transes$#@!" social pariah stigma, I see no other solution than to default to making it illegal.

Regarding TikTok, the greater concern is that (unfortunately) a good number of our Gen Z, and to a lesser extent Millennials, get their pulse on the goings-on in the world from it. If TikTok bans any dissent to men in women's sports, we have a whole next generation of people who don't think there is dissent. So they are less likely to dissent, for fear of becoming social pariahs. To your greater point about the value of sports, I'll repeat a point I've made in the past about my daughter with Type 1 diabetes. She is free to pursue her happiness... with constraints. She can't join the military for instance, which is another example of a great team-building pursuit. There are thousands of other pursuits upon which to build teamwork besides sports. And there are thousands of individual athletic pursuits which don't involve beating the snot out of biological females.

Three things: 1. Government funding for IVF is in the Department of Defense Appropriations Act? I object to it on that point alone. 2. "Trump ending Roe v. Wade," seems like a lie on multiple levels. One, he didn't. Two, why is funding for IVF tied to the ending of Roe v. Wade? 3. How is IVF related to contraception. That wouldn't be a... slippery slope argument, would it?
