Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
I'm not defending anything per se, I'm merely pointing out that she was a DEI hire. I also understand that Trump needs to tread carefully on this subject, because low-IQ voters will interpret this statement of truth as a racist statement. Regarding her qualifications: Biden thought she was the most qualified from the pool of black women. That's a pretty small population in the US, though. The odds of such a person being the most qualified overall are pretty low. And given her historical worthlessness as VP, spending most of her day squestered in her office playing solitaire rather than let her out in public to say some word salad gibberish, I'd say he chose... poorly. -
Those tower shots are incredible.

But, she WAS a DEI hire. Biden said he was going to pick a black woman. He narrowed it down to 4 black women. Then he picked his favorite black woman. This is all fact. That is a DEI hire. It's funny how the Left calls people racist for pointing out what the Left did. -
I've got a cousin with Down's. When she was younger, she used to dip carrots into ranch and just lick off the ranch. This is my lasting mental image of you ranch lovers.

Natty Light-infused BBQ sauce.

Yeah, I was surprised to see Phoenix at #5, but then I realized we are the 5th largest city. We've a very spread-out city so you don't tend to get that concentrated weed smell you would in more congested spaces. So I don't think of it happening here as much. That being said, I go to a pretty serious cross-fit-ish gym, and I know quite a few people there who do it regularly.

Fair on both counts. Definitely blue cheese for buffalo, because at the risk of turning in my man card, I don't love buffalo sauce -- I only eat it when a group orders them; on my own I'd pick a different sauce. So the blue cheese, being a stronger taste, helps to offset the buffalo sauce for me. On burgers, I think I've only had it with crumbles. Decades ago I used to regularly get a peppercorn crusted burger with blue cheese crumbles at Fridays, I think. Loved that burger. Typically I'll go the bacon/other cheese route (not swiss), but blue cheese is a good change of pace.

Watched some judo this morning -- as a former martial artist, I always try to catch such events. That being said, I don't quite get judo. Yeah, I know, you try to throw people. But it seems wrong that if you fail a throw, you can just turtle up on the ground. That doesn't seem to replicate a fighting situation very well.

I like fit women. I could do without the body building poses, but she looks good in the pics where she isn't flexing.

Agree with the first part. I also like blue cheese on burgers. I like ranch but whenever I'm given the choice, I always pick blue cheese.

Exactly. A very strong message was sent to Iran, in a language they understand. Not the Obama/Biden language of "here's more money guys, please don't bomb too much!" They don't speak Weak very well.

I don't disagree on there being too many swimming medals. It doesn't make 3x3 basketball an elite sport tho.

Good answer, and I've argued for Rice as the best NFL player ever for this reason (similar to my Rickey Henderson best baseball player ever argument). But... with the way the game has changed, I could see this being challenged. It would take somebody like Larry Fitz who loves/respects the game to do it, and I'm not sure the current crop of Chase/Jeff have it in them to last past their big paydays, but it could be done.

3X3 basketball should not be an olympic sport. There is nothing elite about this.

Biden’s plan for Supreme Court reform
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
This data is a little dated, but Barrett is the 3rd most centrist of the justices. Only Roberts and Cavanaugh are closer to center. The other 6, including the 3 liberals, are more biased. https://www.axios.com/2019/06/01/supreme-court-justices-ideology -
Harris commercials are tossing her a softball with credit for getting $35 insulin prices. Does anyone remember her being the Diabetes Czar? Or is this more alternative history?

I'm also digging the "Gold Zone" with the Red Zone guy bouncing between events, and the quad box screen where you can move your cursor to control the sound. NBC really hit it out of the park with these coverage options.

What did Trump mean when he told Christians: "In four years, you won’t have to vote again"?

No, they are more like those x-ray glasses you used to get in cereal boxes. -

It did, and Trump has said that he will not push for a national ban. But since this statement does not fall into the bucket of "Ima be a dictator!", the Left considers this one a lie. If instead he had said he plans to institute such a law, the Left would consider it a stone cold lock. When you view things through this lens, it makes their reactions much clearer. -

The problem, which we've discussed countless times, is that you equate the success of our past immigration system with our current situation. In most of our history, immigration was restricted to certain cultures, and immigrants had no safety nets to save them. I've seen estimates of 30%+ of immigrants went back home because they couldn't hack it. Those that made it assimilated or stayed contained in their cultural pockets within the city. Which brings us to your studies which show that immigration improves the economy. What you miss, or choose to ignore, is that it does NOT do so for first-generation, which consistently costs money. Second generations are a slight net positive but not enough to outweigh the initial costs, and it's not until 3rd that the overall "investment" is considered a positive. And again, this was in the past, highly controlled system. As I type this it occurs to me: there is little incentive for the feds to stem immigration. The burden of that first-generation cost falls primarily on local and state governments. The feds just sit back and wait to collect taxes in the future. It makes me think that maybe we should stop shipping them to random cities and start dropping them all off at the Capitol. -
I really dug watching the men's gymnastics team yesterday. Teams like China and Japan look like homogeneous automatons, while our team looks like the Bad News Bears. And they managed to get the bronze. Seeing the look of pure joy on that autistic kid after he nailed his pommel horse routine to secure the bronze... that's what these games are all about.

Probably best that you ignore me; the data I provide causes you too much pain. In fact, I don't think you are cut out for this place. A little too combative. You need a Leftie echo chamber. Maybe Tumblr? -

So you believe the bolded, and also believe that deportation would be "catastrophic"? Honest question: why do you want to destroy America? I'm hoping it's just naivete. -

Clearly he will eliminate elections and put in a monarchy for his family to rule the country for generations to come. Thankfully, we have no checks and balances to stop that, so we will all benefit from the Trump dynasty for the next 100 years.
