Anecdotally, the one trans kid I knew fairly well (friend of my daughter) was a boy who lived in a focked up, abusive home. I thought he was crying out for help, but it wasn't my place to say. Yeah, we didn't have public pools in my backwater PA town. My aunt did have an in ground one, though, so that was pretty cool. Also, instead of go carts (without breaks), we would ride our skateboards (the little ones, not the big boards of today) while being towed behind a bike. There was really only one way to stop, and that was to tumble on the asphalt.

My wife made her mom's amaretto cake last week for our kids' birthdays. She texted her SIL for the recipe, and having not heard back right away, she googled one that she liked. Used maybe a tablespoon of amaretto. Then SIL forwarded her mom's recipe -- 1/2 a cup. Kids had fun calling their grandma a lush (not to her face of course).
