    Once again

Oh, I've tried to have this talk with him. He won't listen. The Catholic Church didn't preserve the Bible per se, it curated it. Up until the fourth century, there was no book, there were collections of stories that were read in churches throughout the land. The Catholic Church got together and decided which stories were the true word of God, and which were, for lack of a better phrase, fan fiction. You see, Jesus was a popular dude, and people liked to write stories about him. These stories are considered apocryphal, or part of the "apocrypha." Here is a collection of them: https://www.nasscal.com/e-clavis-christian-apocrypha/ The site doesn't have a good search mechanism, just use ctrl-f. In it you will find hundreds of stories which didn't make the cut. Gospels of Judas, Mary, Barnabas, Thomas, Peter. The Gospel of Peter is somewhat known in religious circles, although not by name -- Peter was crucified for his beliefs, but asked to be crucified upside down, so as to not be likened to Jesus. @weepawswon't even click that link, because he would consider it heretical. Knowledge and weepaws do not mix well. Anyway, my point is that for all he considers his surfer cult superior to the Catholic Church, his Bible wouldn't exist if not for it.

tranny thread. We really need to talk about this.

My first car out of college was a manual 5.0 Mustang LX, man I loved that car. Eventually I got a job commuting into the city in stop and go traffic and... meh, it was a pain. It's still useful in slippery conditions to be able to force a gear, but it seems most cars these days have that ability through either manual shifting or 1/2/3 lower gear options.

Good luck man. Is the next step a biopsy, or is that what you find out Tuesday?

how do you describe the Geek Club to other people?

10 years later, I was going to type almost the exact same thing. Pfft, what kind of Leftoid are you? Gender and sexual preference are not the same. Go back to woke school.
  9. And as a bonus: So it "mentions" it twice, once where it tells you that they don't yet know the precise nature of the charges, so it's hard to know exactly what they are. That being said, I'll grant you that the statement you pasted, despite not knowing the precise charges, conveys the opinion that the motivation is that they didn't like his position in this culture war. I guess time will tell. But I can see some powerful people on both sides of this issue lining up to support each. On a slightly different note, I see no mention of any investigation or charges against the doctors who are falsifying medical records. Doesn't mean it isn't happening, I just find the lack of mention interesting.
  10. Honest question, because you do this often. Why do you not even read something and then respond to it? It's even in the part I bolded.

Everyone who graduates college gets a green card

Yes, I think. I'm just saying you don't start with a green card. What I'd like to see is starting with certain focus areas. Say, medical professionals (doctors/nurses/PAs/radiation techs/etc.) or something else of which we have a shortage. Canada's immigration policy is very much based on this -- they only let in such people.

Everyone who graduates college gets a green card

Agreed, although I would want some period of work/paying taxes under a work visa before getting a green card. While it's true that our green card process needs a lot of work, the original proposal strikes me like a typical liberal one where they didn't think about the unintended consequences.
  13. Wrong. The Founding Fathers realized that a strong underpinning of religious morality was necessary for the libertarian experiment that was the US of A to succeed. And the Constitution was designed to keep the federal government out of the states' religious business. Many states had an official religion well into the 1800s. https://firstamendment.mtsu.edu/article/established-churches-in-early-america/ https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel05.html I'm not espousing that we go back to official state religions, but more so pointing out that you are incorrect on the role of Judeo-Christian principles on the founding of our government.

Waste is a solvable problem. Worst case, just launch it out into space. If you believe it is an existential crisis and all.

This guy came up to me and said, 'You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit.' As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.

We've discussed this before: nuclear fusion investment is great but it's decades away if ever, so it is more "research" than "development" for a while. We should definitely do it. But I disagree with Tim's take that we should leverage every possible resource to do it, because frankly, current fission technology is pretty darn good. We just need to build some modern reactors -- all of the ones in use in the US are at least 2 generations of technology behind, IIRC.

I wanna hang a map of the world in my house. Then I'm gonna put pins into all the locations that I've traveled to. But first, I'm gonna have to travel to the top two corners of the map so it won't fall down.
