Also, we have a fun dinner and a movie place near us. Reclining leather seats, full bar and menu, reasonably priced. I don't know how it stays in business, honestly.

About to head to this. Woman from our gym, in her 40s, a doctor. She had body issues: big fakies, lots of work done on her face. We saw her the day before she killed herself at the gym, stretching on the side of class. The following day, Mother's Day, she killed herself. She had a husband and an 11 year old son. That poor kid is going to need therapy every year around Mother's Day. You must be in a really bad mental place to do something so inconsiderate of the impact on those you love. We don't know her husband that well (nor did we know her that well), but we have a close-knit gym, and we subscribe to the "always go to the funeral" philosophy.

You are calling Jesus a liar: Matthew 7:21-22. Not everyone who says to Me, Lord,Lord, Shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, But He who does the will of My Father in Heaven Amen Thanks
-
Thanks for a history lesson I didn't need. The answer is that Jesus would have attended the funeral. Let he among you who has no sin, cast the first stone. What about my main point, which is that works, not merely accepting Jesus Christ as your lord and savior, are required for salvation?

That's crazy! We occasionally get some summer hail, I presume Houston does as well. But barely a ground cover, nothing like this.

Pure libertarianism is the opposite pole of pure communism, and they share the same fatal flaw: they only work if everyone follows the rules, but people suck and they don't follow the rules. The optimal solution is somewhere on the spectrum between the two; we spend our time debating where that point is. -
You would do well to remember this. Yet more evidence that it is works, and not merely "accepting Jesus Christ as your lord and savior," which leads to Heaven. Would Jesus skip the funeral of a suicide?

Funeral for a person who committed suicide
jerryskids replied to jerryskids's topic in The Geek Club
You said you understand it, then typed a lot of words that showed you didn't. Particularly the "disparaging words," which I stand by my assertion that you drunk-scanned the thread, saw some disparaging words, and attributed them to me. When I asked about you said I thought she was a "horrible biotch" I believe. Then when I responded that I said no such thing, you responded with something like "we all know your judgments." So you'll excuse me if I didn't think you were being complimentary. -

I have never done that to you or anyone else, and I have voiced my objection in the past when people have done that to you. And before you say it, not every time, but I've done it. -

So, having discussions on a lightly-trafficked FF board is disrespectful to the victim and family? -
Funeral for a person who committed suicide

Thanks. I try very hard to not accuse people who commit suicide as being selfish, as I don't think of them as being able to make a rational decision. That's why I said "inconsiderate" in the OP, which in hindsight wasn't the best word, but I was looking for a better word than selfish, and I meant it in the denotative sense of "not considering, or not capable of considering." It's a terrible sickness, one that would cause you to think death is better than living. But Worms drunk read the thread and accused me of calling her a "raging biotch" or similar, Gutter decided to troll, BeachBlade spewed out some words, and here we are. -

Good point. I'm reflecting that it's impossible to have difficult discussions with trolls. I could tell you how much different she looked in the past few years. And I could tell you, as I already have, that it is normal to think about what the demons were (I noticed you've never been to such a funeral, speaking from expertise again I see). And this used to be a place we could discuss such things. But it wouldn't matter to you, you troll that you think I would say something at a funeral. Gutter, the arbiter of niceness and decorum on FFT. -

Again with the funeral. You and Gutter must be projecting your inability to function in social situations. Nothing about "raging biotch" or even close, I see. Color me shocked. Regarding your bolded. - The body image part was explained above to Gutter. In a later post I discussed the danger of telling girls they are beautiful all the time. - Killing yourself on Mother's Day is kinda relevant to the situation and makes it particularly tragic. Not judgy. - I carefully worded "so inconsiderate" to avoid any judgment. When a person kills themselves, they prioritize their death over the impact on the lives around them. This is a fact, sad though it is. In typing my thread, I was doing more than say "someone died, so sad," but rather explore what would lead a mother to kill herself on Mother's Day. -

I described her body image issues in the context of trying to figure out why she killed herself. When such tragedies happen, people often try to figure out the reason. But hey, thanks for thinking I might say this to people at the funeral. -

I'm guessing you were drunk again. Are you OK? We're here to chat if you need help. If not, you once again used your lawyerly skills to sloppily skim a thread, read some words from some people, jumble them in your head, and draw a wrong conclusion. Otherwise, feel free to point out where I said something to imply that she was a "raging biotch." It's less than a page long, Worms, even you can do it. -

I said I didn't know her that well, but we always go to the funeral. and I absolutely did not call her any disparaging names. I said you must be in a bad mental place to do that, especially on Mothers Day. Read my posts again. -

I think polls are more useful for trends than for absolute values. In other words, if the polls say that support for Candidate X has increased, I trust that more that a poll saying Candidate X has Y% of the votes. -

Funny, the guy iin Oregon telling people in border states that the border is just red meat for superdupermagatards. Also, a fake lawyer. Are illegal aliens threatening fake lawyer jobs? -

Yeah, I was think some sort of cardiac type of issue that he didn't recognize the symptoms. Seems a stretch to leap to a conclusion of suicide. -

No, they were obnoxious. They showed a montage of her pictures from birth until... maybe 3-5 years ago, based on the age of her son in the pics. No recent ones, from when she had all of the face work done. There was maybe one picture showing the new bewbs, but generally not. What struck my wife and I was how many times different people mentioned her being "beautiful." I know I'm playing psychologist on a low-rent FF message bored, but we both think she was chasing eternal youth with her recent surgeries, and Father Time always wins in the end. I don't know if that is what led her to this tragic end, but perhaps she had too much of her image wrapped up in youthful beauty. My advice is to tell the women/girls in your life that they are beautiful on the INSIDE. -
Weepaws is on a Revelation kick lately. Is the world ending next week? If so, I'll drink up my good bourbon. Hate to see it go to waste.
