Trump's NY Election Interference Trial - Trump is found guilty on all 34 counts
jerryskids replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
I meant the witness disaster part. Lost all credibility? Like more than a convicted perjurer or a porn star? Also, perhaps some in the jury drew a different conclusion. Perhaps sitting there all day every day, some are thinking "man, this judge sure seems one-sided." Who knows? -
He is saying: why should my 7 yr old son be held accountable for the past dominance of white males?

How did you conclude this? -
Should work now, cleared out some stuff.

I would vote no on him. I don't think he could keep the politics/personal stuff out of this thread. Plus I think he's borderline special needs. But maybe that means more money for the rest of us? That being said, I doubt I'd boycott, as I know I've had some recent run-ins with him so I'm not impartial.

Yeah. I'm no defender of MTG. It's like she tries to pull off being like Trump, but only Trump can do Trump. Do we have a thread on President Biden declaring executive privilege to prevent a video from becoming public, the entire transcript of which is available to the public? If not I should start one. -
And you are in an engineering/tech firm. Which brings up a big problem with such goals -- the underlying feeder group doesn't support them. There is nothing close to 45% women or POC in engineering, let alone engineering management, to support those goals. So you end up with a diverse C Suite of supporting staff -- HR, legal, finance -- to make the numbers work. Earlier Gutter made a comment about already having 4 white male SCOTUS justices. Guess what? Most lawyers are white males (88% are white, 63% male). A higher percentage of federal judges are white males. https://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/aba/administrative/news/2020/07/potlp2020.pdf

Good one. I was going to say "the kung foo master in every bad Chinese martial arts movie from the 70s and 80s." But it doesn't roll off the tongue.

You forgot "bleach blonde" in the beginning. She had her rap going. Also, I expected Rep Fake Eyelashes to be pushing 3 bills, based on making fun of MTG for having a fit body, but she's actually only somewhat chubby: https://www.google.com/search?q=representative+crockett+from+texas&sca_esv=75ce3f1a0c12c434&tbm=isch&sxsrf=ADLYWIJg-76MV5Vb-8FKwGIO-TWo3q8cLg%3A1716232592643&source=hp&biw=1920&bih=911&ei=kKFLZojMEtavur8P_MKI8Ao&iflsig=AL9hbdgAAAAAZkuvoAllTthsz4R-_fUtb0llhiablHxl&oq=representative+crock&gs_lp=EgNpbWciFHJlcHJlc2VudGF0aXZlIGNyb2NrKgIIADIHEAAYgAQYGDIHEAAYgAQYGDIHEAAYgAQYGDIHEAAYgAQYGEinM1AAWLgbcAB4AJABAJgBkAGgAYkLqgEEMTguMrgBAcgBAPgBAYoCC2d3cy13aXotaW1nmAIUoALnC8ICBBAjGCfCAggQABiABBixA8ICBRAAGIAEwgIOEAAYgAQYsQMYgwEYigXCAgsQABiABBixAxiDAcICBhAAGAgYHpgDAJIHBDE4LjKgB7Rr&sclient=img#imgrc=haICE8w1tn38-M -

These people enact our laws, and determine how to spend trillions of our dollars. -

That's so funny, I was going to post this -- I started watching Wick 4 for the first time last night (wife came home 1/2 way through; that movie is almost 3 hours long with non-stop violence!). That dood is pretty bad ass.

Why would the current president, in an election year, basically tell young black people (and the world) that he's done nothing to fix this perceived problem? But hey, vote for me, I'll fix it next time!
-

I'm not sure that we can conflate "done the most for black people" with "give them the most free stuff." If that were the case, then freeing the slaves would have no value in the discussion. I would argue that record low black unemployment, and the First Step Act/sentence reductions, are more important than more free stuff. And no, I don't think Trump did more than Lincoln. I watched the video: he said "since Lincoln -- and perhaps in some ways, including Lincoln -- but since Lincoln"... https://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/-an-insult-rev-al-slams-trump-for-saying-he-s-done-more-for-black-people-than-lincoln-211239493982 My guess is that the speech said "since Lincoln," but Trump couldn't help himself, because he is a narcissist, so he riffed the middle part. I imagine his campaign people were doing some after he added that part.

Wow, Billy Zabka became a much better actor when he got older. Ralph Macchio still kinda sucks at acting, tho.

I saw YouTube listed which I consider social media or at least adjacent, since people subscribe to content and comment back and forth. But I can accept that this is not the general definition, at least not enough to argue about. I look forward to BeachBlade, who obviously never even read the article/poll and instead followed you around saying "yeah, you tell him, Gutter!" what an idiot I am. In 3rd grade language.

Fair point, I'll address it in a separate response. First though... ... hush, troll. Adults are having an adult conversation. Hmm... yup...

Interesting with the Taco Bell comments, as all three of my kids would probably list it as their favorite. I think that the spirit of the OP is the menu on paper, in which case Long John Silvers is a good one. They might be more of an east coast chain though, as I can't think of any around here.

Thanks. I'd be interested in your wife's take on Butker's speech. My wife thought it was a good message. Then again, she is an engineer who took a break in her career to stay home with our kids. Regarding the TLM: I've never been to one, but I wouldn't mind attending one. Our parish does something of a "high" mass, singing a lot of the parts that are spoken in other churches. I don't see anything wrong with the "necessity" comment, he is a Catholic talking to other Catholics. Nor do I object to him explaining why he thinks so. Covid, meh, I didn't notice the omission you noted. I suppose he could have said something about weighing the risks. But his general message was that Church leadership should be more courageous in defending the faith, and in prioritizing the spiritual needs of their constituents.

Before I answer, are you Catholic?

Why call out the others but not TikTok?
-
I presume that NBC want to make a point and that including TikTok would not have helped them.
-
I already posted the text from Vox, but I apologize for omitting the link. https://www.vox.com/culture/23997305/tiktok-palestine-israel-gaza-war Your link disagrees: says 40% under 24, 65% under 35. Seriously, why are you wasting our time about whether most TikTok users are under 24 or 28? What is the gotcha here?
