  1. I make no promises. Seriously tho, I'd take you up on that. Now that my daughter is living in Manhattan, perhaps someday I'll be back there for a few days without the wife. If so I'd definitely be up for meeting you, Shots, HT, and I'm sure others I'm forgetting at the moment.

Chargers fire head coach Brandon Staley...

I could have told you not to give Monty Williams all of that money, but nobody asked me. Nice enough guy, but questionable ability as coach. Then again, the Suns have Frank Vogel who is not exactly impressing me. The defense looks like 5 guys in a gym pick-up game.

How to put an end to Racism in Boston

Your article basically argues that it isn't really racist anymore, but rather that's an old perception that is hard to change. Which is crap. Boston is like every high-tax, democrat city. The attitude: take all of the taxes you want, just keep those focking minorities in their neighborhoods where they belong.

This years White House Christmas video is...

    OK, that was funny.
  5. Toofy's thread about being in a good place reminded me to give an update: I'm also happy and doing well! About 3 months ago they stopped giving me Keytruda, as I had had repeated scans with no changes (just that one small nodule, which I long ago concluded is not cancer). Last Friday I had my first scan since then, and it was a little scary since I was off the immuno. But, the scans were unchanged. Wonderfully boring. In addition, my oncologist has suggested pushing the next scan out to 4 months vs. 3. All of this goodness is juxtaposed by people around me getting sick and/or dying. Two weeks ago my next door neighbor from our previous house (20 years) passed from glioblastoma, a nasty brain cancer. I also mentioned here somewhere that my current next door neighbor has colorectal cancer; he went to his onc yesterday to discuss possible clinical trials (there are no approved treatments for his situation). Maybe living next to me is bad luck. Also my wife's brother's good friend passed away this week of leukemia. She said he got sick after me, and then said she has a little bit of survivor's guilt since I'm doing so well. I was like I'm good. To remind her that my life isn't all a bed of roses, I did some regular maintenance on my stoma last night which causes a lot of pain and coughing. That made her less guilty. Anyway, that's all, enjoy your holidays!

Biden should deal with the border issue, but he’ll win anyhow.

So you want to go back to a policy of 100 - 140 years ago, when the west was being settled and we needed people to do that, and we limited it to certain countries, and bring that policy forward to a time where we have long since finished expanding, and also add in a bunch of cultures who have no desire to assimilate into our society. What could possibly go wrong? I usually try to be careful about separating liberals from leftists, and I'll do that again, but this time to criticize liberals. This is a classic liberal fallacy, the inability to see unintended consequences. I also don't see them as villains. Their home countries generally suck, and we're willing to take them in, give them free stuff, and put their kids through our schools. Hell, I'd try to do the same. But that doesn't mean we should allow it, or allow them to stay.

    Gender Dysphoria - GREAT article.

I don't understand how you can differentiate "my" conclusion from that of the report, since I merely posted that of the report. Here, I'll post the end of the results again for you: That being said, it's clear that you don't understand my position, or choose not to. My position is: until recently, when we started celebrating being trans, the only people who were trans were... actual trans people, with gender dysphoria, who were willing to go through the long, arduous process of confirming their diagnosis, and the life-changing medical acts to change their bodies. If studies exist which show almost universal happiness with transition (you seem allergic to links on this topic BTW), I'm confident they come from this older cohort, and were likely past puberty and into adulthood before medical interventions. Since then, we've begun celebrating being trans, have had hundreds of gender clinics pop up, have had reports of less than arduous evaluation of people including young people, and lo and behold, we've had an astronomical increase in "trans" people. Particularly girls going through puberty, with the often uncomfortable growth of breasts, unwanted attention from boys, weird feelings from estrogen (side note: it's not surprising that, when such girls go on testosterone, they feel more confident). As such, it is not surprising that people from this latter, younger cohort show no statistically significant reduction in mental issues. This is completely consistent with "my" conclusion (i.e., that of the report), which is that the vast majority of people identifying as trans these days are NOT truly gender dysphoric. I would like to see us go back to how it was (I know, I know, old conservative guy), as I described above. I understand that it is hard on true trans people because they wouldn't be celebrated like they are now, but here's the unfortunate thing: life isn't always fair. They've been dealt a hand where their brain thinks they are in the wrong sex body. You can not like describing it as a mental issue, but that's what it is. That is why some people object to ANY medical intervention. Personally, I don't fall into that camp, for true trans adults -- I don't begrudge them seeking peace, unless we find some cure, which some gender dysphoric people might prefer. What doesn't make sense is changing society to conform to a mental illness: men in women's sports, men in women's spaces like prisons, spas, etc., transitioning kids just because they feel that way this month, etc. I'm confident I've wasted my time, because you are convinced that this astronomical (and growing) association with trans is all legit. I've explained above how this defies reason, and the data in the link bears that out, but you will refer to your alleged vast majority of experts, and we'll get nowhere.

    Gender Dysphoria - GREAT article.

It's also unfortunate that in our current society, if you point out that radical medical changes (hormones, surgeries) don't help resolve the underlying mental health issues that people who associate with trans have, you are labeled as transphobic. This is the benefit of "woke", according to Real Tim.

    Gender Dysphoria - GREAT article.

Thanks. I wish @The Real timschochetwould acknowledge the response, recognize actual scientific data, and stop referring to his imaginary legion of mental health professionals who help him to support his world view.
  12. Mick Team Harrington. He's playing well and this is a different son this time around who won't want to let Dad down: I can't believe I actually put thought into this.

    California, at it again.

This comment sums up my concern: I've got an 80V battery system with a blower and mower, but that is for my 5000 sq ft patch of grass on maybe 1/3 acre. The battery sometimes lasts for both tasks, depending on how much of the yard I use the blower on that day. I have a second battery (they aren't cheap) which is somewhat damaged and doesn't keep as much charge, so I use it to finish up tasks while the other recharges. More often than not, I end up taking a break while the main battery is charging. I couldn't imagine having to rely on this for large properties, let alone farms/ranches. I would hope that Cali would have carved out provisions for such, since a large portion of their state does farming. But alas, that portion is in the Red sections, so Newsome probably doesn't give a fock.

  16. I wanted to pick him! I'll go with Team Thomas. I'm relying on the kid to pick his dad up here.

Grill, Smoker, Crock Pot, Pressure Cooker, Sous Vide

You can cook meat to any exact temperature. It's particularly useful for thick cuts, to get an even temp throughout. Also for cooking things like chicken or pork at a lower temp, but for a longer time which still kills bacteria. You can throw a steak in, go golfing, come back 5 hours later and it is perfectly cooked. You can't overcook with it.

I believe that you are correct, and that there is nothing nearly as graphic in @Sean Mooney's list as there is in yours. But I'm open to being wrong, perhaps he can comment?
