I didn't say that well: when I said that the SEC was overrated, I was saying that FSU should have gotten in. I generally prefer the "team who earned it" approach vs. the "best team based on computers or somebody's opinion" approach. Alabama was a miracle pass over Auburn away from being a two-loss team. They were ranked 8th and an afterthought. Now they leapfrog an undefeated FSU, one who beat two SEC teams non-conference? (LSU and Florida). Not good.

Yeah, no way were they going to NOT have an SEC team in. That being said, I wish @phillybearwere still around to tell us how overrated the SEC is, because this year he would be correct. I just listened to a breakdown of their non-conference schedules and performance in those schedules, and both were pathetic. It looks like we have Georgia vs. FSU in the Orange Bowl, though. So I guess we'll get a taste of if they belonged in the playoff.

Leftists don't directly help people in need. They push for higher taxes for other people so that the government can make sure they live in somebody else's neighborhood.

Nope, and nope. I literally gave you the definition of cultural appropriation. I know you Lefties like to redefine words to meet your worldview, but I don't subscribe to that foolishness. If you will agree that this is not a case of cultural appropriation, but you find it offensive anyway, I'll still think it is a wrong position, but not an inane one. And I stipulate to no such thing. I'm kinda sad in a way that the kid ended up being native, because it obscures from the real discussion, which is that a kid dressing up to support his team is not objectively offensive. If you have an issue with the Chiefs having that as their name, go for it, but don't get all woke with a kid for supporting his team.

Gotcha. I'm an X'er by the way, by a few years. I think he is too young (and unmarried) to understand what marriage is like. I think he is also, like you said, more attuned to the "reality" of the current dating world, and that you are correct that no-fault restrictions will more likely affect his generation. I think that that reality is unfortunate and that we as a society are losing sight of what a true commitment to a union is, and replacing it with a hedonistic approach, which was my initial point. Basically, lots of things can be right.

You are conflating gender dysphoria (a true mental disorder) with social influences on LGBTQ adoption. I have no trouble whatsoever with people with true gender dysphoria getting counseling and proper age-appropriate care, and respecting them as transgenders. That's how it used to be, before the social contagion.

I would say that strengthens my position, since "cultural appropriation" means that the message is for folks not of their culture. Or are you saying the kid from their tribe whose dad is on the council is not of their culture?
