So, we're going to Manhattan this weekend...

No. We plan on renting a car just for two days to take out of the city. Which reminds me, I should look into that. -

Wow, this is incredibly uninformed. Communism is deeply tied to the anti-fascist movement. Simple Google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=is+antifa+marxist&oq=is+antifa+marxist&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRiPAtIBCDM4MTdqMGo0qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#ip=1 From the Time interview in the link: Or pick just about any article from that search. -

You know nothing about Marxism. Let's start with its opposition to the nuclear family, which you objected to in Fireballer's post: https://www.studysmarter.co.uk/explanations/social-studies/families-and-households/marxist-perspectives/#:~:text=Marxists see the role and, could pass down private property. This is seen by the progressive push in the past 60 years to laud single parents, divorce for the slightest unhappiness, polygamy, alternate sexuality. HTH, but I somehow doubt it. -

Sounds mostly peaceful. We should leave them all there, like the Summer of Love. That's what a thoughtful poster like Tim would recommend.

Maybe read the thread first, instead of just jumping in? -
My daughter lives a train stop south of the Columbia Med School near Washington Heights; the main campus is a ways south, where Central Park starts. Her roommate goes to the med school (for physical therapy, not a doc) and onsite classes were cancelled today even up there. Unknown about tomorrow. She was on her way home when my wife talked to her and will find out more.

Well, we know #1, 5, 6, and 7 to be true, and their are parts of the others with truths. -

Good to know that you recognize the committee was not a fact-finding effort, but rather a banana republic proceeding. We need a trial to figure out what they are hiding? I don't even know what to say to that. -

Amazing. Your quoted part was my summary of this from the article: This should be easy enough to confirm with Miller. And the SecDef, along with Secretary of the Army (who we discussed earlier), are the delegated people who can call the NG. One would presume that, were Trump himself to do it, he would go through one of these people like his staff did, unless you believe he has a bat phone directly to the head of the NG. Also, perhaps Trump thought it was his protesters that needed protection. That doesn't mean that if the NG were there, it wouldn't have dissuaded the riot, and had the riot started anyway, they would have been there to squelch it (unless you think they'd have joined in, which would be laughable). The Feds had infiltrated these groups. I'm not getting into to what extent they may have goaded on the riot, but they certainly knew it was more than possible that something would happen. And yet no troops were deployed, and it wasn't because of Trump. It saddens me that so many Americans like yourself don't have all kinds of problems with this, and instead think it is perfectly acceptable for the 1/6 committee to just issue an 11 minute curated video and conclude "orange man bad" without doing their alleged job. -
I would say that I bet I'm a much better engineering SW salesperson, but the guys I sold to would have crawled over broken glass to buy whatever she is selling.

Just did, thanks. Mayo Clinic has a piano in the lobby of each of the two facilities here; occasionally somebody is at it playing, usually some easy listening stuff. I presume the people are volunteers, and I've actually thought about doing that as a motivation to get back into playing (and as a way to give back for all they've done for me). It would be awesome to have her talent and whip out, oh I don't know, that kind of performance for Metallica One, or Nothing Else Matters like at the beginning of the video below. The entire facility would just come to a stop. At the beginning of Nothing Else Matters I was like OK, yeah, I could probably do that. And then it got... more intricate.

Didn't have you pegged for someone who encourages Donald Trump to make decisions against his advisors. Anyway, regarding the troops, this came up recently: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/mar/11/jan-6-committee-kept-lid-on-testimony-donald-trump/ So, Trump did indeed offer troops beforehand, which were deemed unnecessary. And Trump's people were working with the DoD to get deployment once the Capitol was breached, and were frustrated by the slow deployment. And the J6 committee was a farcical kangaroo court which ignored evidence to draw the conclusion they were convened to draw. Still criminally prosecute? -
Hmm...

Based on the huge respect you seem to have for "MAGA," I'm not going to sign up for your definition of the phrase. I do plan to vote for Trump over Biden, and I have consistently opposed the political and MSM witch hunts against him. Perhaps because, coincidentally (hah hah), all of the trials are heating up as the election nears, I find myself speaking more about it. Can we stop with your MAGAtisms and get back to Joe Biden trying to destroy Title 9 for women?

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree that you should criminally prosecute the then POTUS and current candidate for POTUS for disregarding the guidance of the Secretary of the Army and instead not following the clear suggestion of an HR manager from upstate New York. And your analogy is absurd. We're not talking about water cooler debates on what should have been done, we're talking criminal prosecution, when nobody has formally talked to McCarthy and Piatt. I can't believe I'm typing these words, but here we are. -
Your TDS MAGA whataboutism post "wiped my face" from my relevant pornographic post? Your lack of self-awareness is impressive. Take a break, girlio.

NFL -- Arrange schedule around Cards games; watch all of the others. I go through a mild depression when the season ends, even when the Cards are crappy like recent years. MLB -- Watch DBacks, some playoffs. Maybe my favorite to see live, mostly because I live 15 minutes from the stadium and games are closer to 2.5 hours now. And there is just nothing quite like a day at the ballpark. And it is quieter so easy for me to speak and be heard. We got Season Passes, which cost $300 and we can go to any of the 81 home games all season. I've already been to 5, it's great to be retired. My daughter showed me where free parking is, so I won't go broke paying the local AME church $20 every game any more. NBA -- Watch Suns, some playoffs. Live events are fun but super loud; even other teams complain about how loud they pipe in music. Hoping the Suns don't get bounced by the Wolves; they looked like shiot in game 1. PGA -- Majors, otherwise it's on in the background Olympics -- Not sure where to rank it. I absolutely love the sports and will stream obscure competitions all day.

Fun, thanks for posting. That blond chick doing Kansas was a smoke show. Also, very good at piano. I used to do similar, although not nearly as good, where I'd figure out how to play a song on the piano. I never really had formal lessons, but I've done music my whole life, and had some talented friends teach me some piano basics. My left hand is pretty worthless, generally playing just octave bass lines, which is a big limiter. My wife keeps saying I should get back into it -- I can see a piano, keyboard, two guitars, and a trumpet as I type this. Maybe I'll spend less time in this cesspool and more on music.
