Yes. They erode over time. I like candle better though. Maybe "lit candle."

I've heard "a mountain" in response to this one.

Tennessee City Has Banned Being Gay In Public
jerryskids replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
Listing "homosexuality" as a behavior seems pretty stupid, and if challenged, likely gets it struck down. That being said, would somebody need to be arrested for such behavior to have standing to challenge it? -
What "news" source did you get this collection of facts from?
-
The article says SCOTUS chose not to hear the request to block the injunction while it plays out in lower courts. If correct, does this constitute "booting?"
-
Well, you asked why it matters, and I answered. Also it is funny that you use the existence of a court case against Trump as ipso facto evidence that there should be such a case.
-
Would not "peacefully" go to his desire for... a peaceful protest? You seem to be making some weird logical leap that because people interpreted portions of Trump's speech to be a call for their behavior, that was by definition Trump's intention, even though he specifically said otherwise.

We've got a new "what is a woman?" for the Left: "Is Hamas a terrorist group?" Apparently this is difficult to answer:
-
Mr. Genius here posts this inciteful question: So we "low IQ" people only see two sides, yet your brilliant thought question is a completely false dichotomy: total peace or not? Didn't you earlier post a similarly inane statement about every Palestinian wanting to murder LGBTQ people? Hyperbole much, Mr. Nuance? To answer your childish question: no, there probably won't be peace, at least total peace. Perhaps more peace, time will tell, it will ultimately be a multi-generational effort. But we have decades of history to show that there won't be peace if Israel does nothing. Plus that inconvenient part about Hamas saying they'll do it again. You are a pseud who thinks recognizing that it is unfortunate that civilians are dying makes you some sort of thought leader. We all think that. Some of us recognize that the blame falls squarely on Hamas for building their terrorist infrastructure under hospitals and schools, recognizing that soft-brained people like you would put pressure on Israel to stop and allow Hamas to come back and rape and burn more Israeli women and children. Who are you btw? Nobody comes to a site like this and posts like you do off the bat. Own your ID.

They did it because they hate the Jews and want to destroy them all. They have told you this but you won't listen (whoever you are) because I presume the cognitive dissonance conflicts with your liberal desire to think "well if they did that, the other guys must have done something really, really bad to cause them to behave like that." Classic oppressor/oppressed marxism. It is in the Koran. It is in the chronicles of Mohammed. Hamas has 100% moral clarity in their actions. China or Russia, you can negotiate with. There is no negotiation with Hamas. To think there is is childish.

What did I get wrong, Matlock?

Are you wordsmithing with words like "everyone," which he didn't say? Obviously there are gay folks there; there are gay folks everywhere. Darn near all of the Palestinians object to homosexuality though. https://www.equaldex.com/region/palestine

What's "ridiculously stupid" is your unicorn middle ground. I explained early on that there is no middle ground, I'm not going to rehash it in detail. But if you don't support the elimination of the cockroaches, and that requires the destruction of their homes, you support them regrouping and committing more acts like 10/7. Which they told you is their plan the week after 10/7. This "well, they could do a more surgical..." yeah, if they could have done that, they would have done it a decade ago. Sheesh, crawling thru sewers trying to one-off cockroaches with Uzis... It's like Biden saying cops should shoot suspects in the leg, only way dumber.
-
Thing is, these folks don't really believe it. They make the mistake of viewing it through the lens of their worldview. They view the Palestinians as the Oppressed, like them, fighting their good fight. They are kindred spirits, and if they went to Palestine, they would be welcome with open arms.

It's a religious fervor, like the jihadists, which is described in that Sam Harris pod I linked. When you believe, truly believe, that you are on the side of good and the other is the side of evil, you gladly strap a bomb to your chest and blow yourself up in a crowd. Any Muslims who die will achieve the eternal joy of heaven; any infidels will suffer eternal misery in hell. There is no bad outcome from such an attack. I cannot emphasize this enough: no bad outcome. No collateral, unnecessary deaths. Allahu Akbar! Now obviously, our Left hasn't reached that level of zealotry, but as you say, it is this underlying conviction which makes it OK for others to rape and burn women and children, then hide behind their own hospitals and schools, then blame the victims of the raping and burning for not providing enough fuel in their donation to, ultimately, the people who raped and burned their women and children.

Ya know, now that you say that... maybe, but I don't think so. We had a bunch of seafood appetizers, particularly on the west coast (Ligurian Sea), so it's possible I did and didn't know. We had anchovies though, which I like (salt cured).

The safest and most secure election in the history of American politics
jerryskids replied to Dizkneelande's topic in The Geek Club
Unpossible. I was told mailing out tens of millions of ballots made this the most secure election evah! It's even the title of this thread, so it must be true. -
The disenfranchised on the Left need something, anything to fight for. Seems we've moved onto the "evil, soulless terrorist group" support phase. It's gotta be uphill from here, right?

I have a negative association with them from my youth. My grandma served them with some other (mostly also disgusting to young me) fish as part of our Christmas Eve dinner. We had other food which I liked and I loved those events, but those sardines, eesh... thing is I'd probably like them now. I love love love sushi, and I've had some which I'd guess is a close cousin to sardines. Similar for canned tuna, utterly disgusts me. Yet I love seared ahi.

The federal trial of Paul Pelosi’s attacker is in progress
jerryskids replied to IGotWorms's topic in The Geek Club
This is classic from the left, we see it from most of the Lefties here. "Sure, there are some wackos on the far, far left, but the vast majority of us are normal! But everyone right of Marx is MAGA$#@!" -
Back to Israel: Below is my latest Pod I'm pimping from the FP -- this time it is a Sam Harris pod that Bari Weiss just played in entirety. Her description: https://www.thefp.com/p/sam-harris-the-bright-line-between-8c9 I disagree with Sam often: for instance, his TDS is legendary and worse than anyone on this board. Not this time though. This is a great 60 minutes which encapsulates the fundamental problem we are facing: a movement (jihadism) foundationally supported by a religion and its teaching (Islam, Koran, chronicles of Muhammed). He addresses topics like moral equivalence, assigning western rationale to jihadist thinking, and negotiating with a belief system which wants nothing but death to infidels. One example: think of the heinous child abuse atrocities performed by some Catholic priests, and the justifiable outrage we as a society react with. Now imagine that the Bible and Catholic doctrine specifically call for such child abuse; how would our culture react? Yet, that is jihadism within Islam. I highly, highly recommend this, especially to folks like @The Real timschochet, @GutterBoy, and anyone else struggling with the moral equivalency on this topic.

Well, DePape seemed to have that idea. Perhaps Pelosi didn't and that started the argument? -

Thanks for the clarification. Also, I had to look up the Gorn; I presume most Star Trek references these days are from recent irrelevant spinoffs and not the original. Gorn was pretty badass. Almost beat Kirk. Almost. -
Homeless fire under I-10 bridge in LA shuts down freeway indefinitely
jerryskids posted a topic in The Geek Club
Dang, what a shiot show traffic is going to be there for the foreseeable future: https://x.com/ChayaRaichik10/status/1724125318460436945?s=20 Probably didn't help that the area under the freeway was (and is in other areas) used for palette storage. You know, those wooden thingies with the perfect combo of wood and air to stack for a bonfire. https://x.com/ToolmanLarryB/status/1724095992692179071?s=20 -

This morning when I first scanned this thread, I glossed over the significance of there being not one but two unicorn costumes.
