  1. This is a false equivalency on the order of "Hamas and Israel both do bad things." I'm wondering why you Leftists even bother to argue about the number of Muslims in power positions. In the unicorn world of multiculturalism, it shouldn't matter, right? Every position of power could be held by a Muslim and the UK would be exactly the same.

Happy birfday old man! (I'm 56). Hope you have sweet dreams of hoisting an EdEx trophy... ... since it will never happen in real life.

I said something similar (thoughts, not prayers). IIRC Ed isn't the biggest fan of religion, so I thought I'd skip that part.

I think many of the young kids are just blithering idiots, going for shock value and or just following what their TikTok masters say to believe. Which, BTW, is China. You and I have socks with more life experience than these kids. For a more sophisticated answer, we can look at the powerful vs. powerless that we discussed before, but IMO that doesn't quite explain the conundrum of support from the Left for a culture which treats women, LGBTQ, or anyone different from them as utter and complete shiot. One explanation that I like is the Left's commitment to multiculturalism, the belief that all cultures are a net good, and that incorporating them into Western culture is therefore a net good on first principles. They ignore the disasters happening in European cultures which embraced such refugees. As with communism, the idea wasn't bad, just the implementation. THIS time, or in OUR country, it will work differently than in every previous example.

Well, I would expect the Repubs to use that fiasco as an example of Biden's inability to lead in military situations. Then again, the Repubs can't help but kick themselves in the balls come election time, so maybe they won't.

Sorry to hear, man. Six months in the hospital, that had to suck for him. Thoughts to you and your family.

    War in Israel

Umm... it depends on how volatile the world is, and the extent to which we are embroiled in it. W won reelection in 2004 largely because of a perception that Kerry was a poosay, and we were still fighting the terrorists. I find it hard to believe that Biden will change the (accurate) perception that he is in deep cognitive decline. Also a vote for Biden in 2024 is basically a vote for his VP candidate, since the odds of Biden making it another four years are approaching zero. If that's Harris, oof. Then again, I imagine the Left and their MSM cohorts will attempt to lather its lemmings up to worry that Trump will fire a bunch of nukes. So it's hard to predict the end result I guess. But it could certainly be a factor.

You are the dumbest poster in this thread and it isn't close. I can literally feel brain cells dying every time I read one of your posts. TBay has beaten you so soundly with actual data, but you keep coming back with your Leftie feelz. Also when my daughter was in 5th grade, her classmate was sexually abused by their 60 year old teacher. The girl wasn't his first victim, but she was the one they finally caught him on.

    Coronavirus - Doomsday

I do not know this guy, and had to look up the poll in your later post: https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/public_surveys/killer_jab_24_say_someone_they_know_died_from_covid_19_vaccine I do not see this Kirsch person mentioned, nor do I see that article drawing the conclusion you did. In conclusion, thanks for tagging me and wasting 10 minutes of my life.

Sam Bankman-Fried. The ex FTX crypto bazillionaire that was just convicted of a lot of bad behavior.
  13. I've never been live to a championship event, so we decided to splurge on tickets for us and our kids (who are hooge sports fans as well). Heading downtown early, we've got a reservation at a bar/restaurant with an outdoor patio, we'll drink and eat and take in the vibe. Suns game is downtown tonight as well, and Halloween night, should be crazy there. Go DBacks!

Yes, thanks. For those who want to watch live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqZLCdl4O90 Not sure if you need to register first. Moderator is the former head of ACLU, she said 40% of respondents from 248 different colleges state that they do not feel that they can discuss controversial topics on campus. I suspect the number is actually higher.

The Bestest Songs About Your City

I've been to Vegas a bunch. The Canyon, only once, a long time ago. Next time will be for a rim to rim hike, or maybe rim to rim to rim. I just read about a 92 yr old dood who did the rim to rim, he's a stud, prolly focked a young chick to celebrate. For Winslow, my thought is a loop with Taos-Los Alamos in NM, and Bryce Canyon in UT.

It's Winslow, not Tucson, but I'll claim it. somehow I've never been there, or in the NE part of the State in general. The Painted Desert area is supposedly beautiful, I plan to go in the next year.

    Coronavirus - Doomsday

In your quest for knowledge and truth, please point to one of your posts in this thread which says anything positive, or at least neutral, regarding the vax. Perhaps something like, "any lives that were saved are outweighed by the harm it did." That would acknowledge some positive. TIA

    Coronavirus - Doomsday

"Your side" is the side that refuses to entertain the indisputable reality that the vax saved many, many lives among the elderly and compromised population. Your side also believes that every person who was previously healthy and then encountered a medical issue did so as a result of the vax. Your side does not search for truth any more than the pro-vax/shutdown crazies do. You are both religious zealots fighting a holy war.

You have a college-aged daughter, no? If so, I'm surprised you haven't seen woke on campuses. Or maybe you do, but you don't realize it because you are on the ride along with it, so you don't feel it moving. There are a lot of alumni concerned with the impact of woke, or specifically of censorship of un-woke ideas. I belong to the MIT Free Speech Alliance (https://www.mitfreespeech.org/) and there are a growing number of similar groups forming across the country. In fact, tonight our group is hosting a debate entitled "Is STEM racist?" The idea of the group is not to advocate one side in any such argument, but rather to make sure both sides are heard.

    Coronavirus - Doomsday

I am in the camp that we won't know the full impact of the vaxxes until we go forward a few years and get more actual long-term data. To say that the vaxxes were safe in the long term, which the CDC and FDA did, was categorically false, as there is no way to truly tell (particularly for something revolutionary in development) until we start to get actual data -- accelerating things in lab animals is not the same. In other words, I believe that time will tell that the impact is worse than the establishment currently believes. As of now, I believe that we have seen some impact, but honestly, when your side blames every collapse on the vax, I get kind of deaf to it.
