    What are your NYE Plans

Update! I drank too much and fell asleep watching TV.

    GOP is a pathetic joke

Nice. What did the leper say to the prostitute? Keep the tip.

    What are your NYE Plans

Staying in. Wife got a Tomahawk steak we're going to share, slow cooking on the pellet grill. One of the great things about being out west is that we can watch the ball drop in NYC at 10pm our time and go to sleep. We already had sexy time this morning, but the wife just walked out after showering wearing a hot sweater/skirt/boots combo, so who knows.

    Books you are reading

Pillars of the Earth is one of my favorite books of all time; one of the few I've read more than once. We have World Without End and I THINK I read it, but I'm not sure. We also have his Century trilogy which my wife read but I haven't; it's set in the early 1900s I believe. Maybe I'll put World Without End in my queue.

    Books you are reading

I read those, they were entertaining. I'm finishing up "Gleanings," which is a bunch of short stories set in the Scythe world, some of which give the back story on characters from the trilogy.

Is there hope for academia yet?

Good article, thanks. There have been many such groups being formed at campuses across the country, and they will only grow given what happened with pro-Palestinian harassment. I belong to a similar alumni one for MIT. Still, this is a big step for Harvard, which has been ranked dead last in free speech by FIRE.

    This economy is so bad

This has to be trolling; nobody is this dumb.

    This economy is so bad

It makes the entire premise of your post dumb; read your first sentence. And now you are saying that somebody with (barely) a pulse was POTUS while the country inevitably did better, because it couldn't do worse, woo hoo!
  9. Care to provide your analysis which proves this? Regardless, it potentially impacts the distribution of electoral votes, which would disenfranchise the voters of Maine.

    This economy is so bad

This is so silly. The country was doing great until Covid destroyed the entire world economy. To blame Trump for it is inane. There is plenty about Trump to complain, this isn't one. Be better.

    FSU got hosed

Watching the pregame when they said FSU had a bunch of players opt out while Georgia was mostly in tact (and I sensed that they wanted to obliterate FSU and show they belonged in the playoff), I went and bet Georgia -23.5. I wish I bet my entire account on it. 42-3 and halftime, eesh.

    What's Your Gripe ?

Good one. My wife recently went shopping for some clothes; she used to buy a lot from Ann Taylor but she said their stuff was now shiot -- no lining in pants, etc. I pretty much just buy cheap stuff from places like Banana Republic these days -- they also used to have decent quality but that is gone, but they've embraced their cheapness in their prices, so I just figure I can just cycle through stuff and not spend too much in doing so.

    ***EdEx 2024 Sentry ***

Works for me. Count all 4 then?
  14. Um, a bipartisan group challenged it, but a single person decided not to put him on the ballot as a result of that challenge. RIF, Rusty. RIF.

Since I began praying and manifesting

Glad to hear you are doing well. Do you have a pipefitting gig? Still with the mother of your child, if I recall correctly? If not I apologize, and am still glad you are doing well.
  16. Maine is not a winner take all state. So removing Trump would potentially have an impact.
  17. I was merely commenting on Rusty's inability to read. That being said, what weird law? Do you mean her power to remove someone from the ballot? I'm interested to see how this plays out with SCOTUS. On the one hand, a conservative-leaning court should err on the side of giving states the power to determine their candidates. But on the other hand, these states are finding Trump guilty of things he hasn't even been formally accused of, so it seems like some sort of violation of his rights, or the rights of the electorate, or due process. I dunno, I'm not a lawyer, but it comes down to a person or small group arbitrarily deciding they don't want him on the ballot.
  18. Somebody can't read. The ruling was made by a single Democrat Secretary of State.

    DESANTIS 2024!!! Ron DeSantis

I'll admit I was wrong about DeSantis. It still amazes me that a guy who became so popular in his state, and deservedly so because of the success of that state, could not translate it to a national stage. I was also wrong about Trump having any chance of winning. Anyway, thanks for digging up old posts of mine. I'm enjoying that RMFF space in your head.
  20. You can get ID without it being a DL. My daughter thought about doing it when she moved to NY recently since she doesn't drive there, but I convinced her to get the DL for times like this week when she is back home. There are 258M adults in the US; 36M would be 14%. I cannot believe that that many people don't have ID. Also I looked up ID requirements for SNAP; the internet varies on answers. One site claimed you can do it without ID but it is a pain in the ass, and also may vary by state. The AZ site for assistance provides no such alternatives -- you need ID.
  21. Thanks. Looking at your first link, I think you did the math wrong. I don't believe these should be added. What it seems to be saying is that 7M of the 29M without licenses have no other valid ID. So the number is 7M, not 36M. That number still seems high to me, but it's better.
  22. Do you have a link to this 36M voting-aged adults in the US without ID to vote? That is quite difficult to believe. Thanks.
  23. He also should consider getting a mobile device which plays videos. I hear they are a thing with the kids these days.
  24. What was not mentioned? The topic of the video in the OP is voter ID.
  25. People with intelligence and nuance understand my point, which consistently includes that there is nothing inherent about black skin that impacts intelligence. You, unfortunately, have neither intelligence nor nuance. So carry on, simpleton.
